Hey Everyone!

hi

It’s always a good thing to hear about new products a little earlier than everyone else, especially when they haven’t hit the stores yet. So, here’s a new one for you –  the Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle and Pore Reducing Cream (let’s refer to it as the PWPRC)! This new cream from Kiehl’s will only be available in stores next month (in May) and is a brand new anti-ageing and wrinkle fighter cream!

wrinkles

But you’re probably thinking  - Roseanne, you’re far from getting wrinkles, you’re only 22! True but did you know that the loss of elasticity in your skin begins in our twenties? Maintaing elasticity is fundamental to preserving our supple faces – it keeps us from forming facial lines. The Kiehl’s PWPRC is unique because it uses two ingredients – Copper PCA and Calcium PCA. I mean have you ever heard of copper skincare?

smooth

Kiehl’s found out that to protect and improve the skin’s elasticity, you have to organize and protect the skin’s elastic fiber network, protect and strengthen the skin barrier and restore hydration at the same time. It’s a multi-pronged approach. The science behind using Copper as a key ingredient in this skincare product stems from the fact that Copper and Calcium are both micronturients that are required by the human body to function. They then paired this with PCA that is naturally found in our skin, so it’s overall absorbed even better by our body. If we want to get even deeper into the science of things, Copper helps to simulate our DNA to produce more elastin, binds to lysyl oxidase that helps in the linking of elastin and it is lined to the remodeling of elastin through the regulation of key enzymes. It’s also an antioxidant that helps protect the skin from stress and pollution.  Calcium on the other hand, is critical for cell turnover and regulation of the lipid barrier process that helps the skin to absorb nutrients better. Overall, it’s a great combination!

hydration

Science out of the way, the textures of the cream are extremely rich and thick. This is for those of us who need a heavy duty moisturiser, it almost has a texture similar to Lanolin creams you can find in Australia. Saying that, it looks like it can for sure improve our pores and deliver intense hydration – which is actually great for pores and blackheads because it looses them up. I still need to try it out more to get a verdict in! There’s the PWPRC cream and also the eye cream!

eye

So what’s the research stats? Within 4 weeks, a consumer study found out that 81% reported fine lines and wrinkles were visibly reduced and 89% said that their skin texture appears smoother.  A clinical study found a 49% reduction in puffiness and 38% reduction in dark circles too. Thats definitely something to look forward to come May.

I just wanted to also comment that Kiehl’s is having a price cut! And a permanent price-cut for even their top best sellers! Expect about 20% discount for the items pictured below. I’m throughly excited to say that their Calendula Toner, Ultra Facial Cleanser and Cream and Creme De Corps are all at lower prices! Gotta check them out now at Kiehl’s stores!!

Kiehl’s has always been on my need to try out list and I’m finally getting into the mood of it! I’m using the SPF 50 now and loving it so I will do a review soon!

Stay tuned to more updates :) Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below!

Hey Everyone!

review

I’m sure we’ve all dreamnt of a lipstick that doesn’t need touching up and that stays on even after we’ve eaten. And guess what I’ve found, the perfect solution. It’s the new addition to the Revlon lipstick family, the Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede lipsticks. Matte lips have been really in lately too so I was happy to try this baby out!

hi2

The lipstick comes in a cute cylinder/clear casing. As you rotate to draw more lipstick out, it has a clicking sound. Overall, it’s great that you can see the color of the lipstick clearly especially when you’re grabbing between many in your make-up case. No gripes about this one! The one I’m trying out happens to be the one in Finale. It’s a very wearable raspberry red that’s super pretty. In fact, let’s try it on! See how different your look can be when you change up your lips?

start

Oddly enough, when you apply the lipstick, it’s not matte or suede. It’s actually quite moisturising. In fact, there’s even a sheen to it. But before you judge, the lipstick then dries as time passes and as it dries, it clings on to your lips. It has a great texture and color when freshly applied and you have to wait about fifteen minutes for it to dry completely.  lips

This lipstick is indeed transfer resistent. When it’s dry, it doesn’t budge. You can put your fingers to your lips and you will see no lip stains or anything on your fingers. It’s as if you’ve set your foundation with heaps of powder and nothing is going to budge it. It’s fantastic and I haven’t met a lipstick that’s like this before.

smile

The only downside is that it can be a tiny bit drying once its dried especially if you have dry and flaky lips. Remember to moisturise with a lip balm or vaseline before you use this and while it is drying, do not purse your lips or you can get clumps. Do not layer this lipstick after you’ve applied it and do not be generous with the amount of lipstick you apply. The less is better so you can avoid the clumps and take advantage of how long lasting and transfer resistent this lipstick is!

beforeafter

I mean seriously, even after 9 hours, it still looks pretty much the same. I didn’t have to do any touching up at all, and during the time I was out, I did eat and drink but nothing transfered! This is Mag (makeupstash) and I at an event and I received lots of compliments with the color. Hehe. Anyway, it is super long lasting. I mean what lipstick lasts 9 hours and more without touching up.

hhiih

Overall, I think if you need a lippie that lasts all day and is transfer resistent, go for it. But, if you have dry and flaky lips, you might want to give this one a miss. I do like the lipstick though, it’s for sure a ColorStay :)

Hope you liked this post and let me know if you have any questions in the comments!

When I’m having a bad skin day or my eyes are uneven, there’s make-up but when I’m having a bad hair day…it’s not so easy. I’ve been blessed with quite obedient hair but it tends to have an attitude of its own. When I’m tired, it lies flat and when the weather is dry, it can knot up horribly. Thankfully, I do use a couple of hair products that can help and today I’m happy to introduce to you Dove Hair Therapy’s leave-on products.

hair therapy

Pictured from left to right: Dove Hairfall Tonic, Straight & Silky leave-on cream, Intense Repair leave-on cream, Intense Repair Overnight Treatment, Nourishing Oil Care serum and Hairfall Rescue Serum.

The Dove Hair Therapy range is great. Although you commonly associate Dove with body care (or even chocolate ;), there’s finally a hair range that understands that everyone’s hair is unique and different. That’s why the Dove Hair Therapy range includes Damage Solutions to repair damaged hair and Nutritive Solutions to nourish hair.

fave

Out of all these leave-on great products, my favourite has to be the Dove Leave-on creams. These are so handy especially on the go when you have someone to impress or if you’re feeling like your hair caught too much sun. The Dove Intense Repair is my favourite. It contains Moisture Serum that instantly repairs severely damaged cuticles and protects your hair throughout the day without making it limp.

nongrease

It comes in a squeeze bottle and its so simple. Just twist the cap, give it a little squeeze in your palm, rub your fingers together and comb through your hair with your fingers. It doesn’t give you a greasy feeling on your hair like other leave on creams can and blends into your hair really well.

The result I always get is super smooth hair without the tangles. I bring this around in my bag at all times because you never know when you’ll need a quick hair fix – especially when it comes to keeping your hair looking less like a frizzy mess (or knotted in my case). As you can see, my hair looks calmer overall! I also love the Hair Fall Tonics (the little vials you see) – they are so good and work each time I apply it on my scalp after washing. I see visibly less hair fall on my comb after using it for about 2 weeks. I also love the overnight treatment. It helps to repair your hair overnight and when I wake up, my hair feels super silky. I love how its no fuss. All I have to do is sleep to get great hair!

bouncy

Dove has also always been close to my heart. Their Hair Tips of Real Beauty campaign really struck a chord with me and I am so excited to share with you that I am a Dove Girl and you can see me showing you how to do different easy and pretty hair styles on www.dovehairtips.com. I’ve been working hard with them the past few weeks and chose a few very wearable yet unique styles that I’m sure you’ll love!

Hey Everyone!

saveur

As much as I love make-up, you could ask anyone, sometimes I wonder if I like food a little more. My guilty pleasure isn’t spending a bomb on clothes (although I can’t say much about make-up) but it is eating out. And today I can’t wait to share with you something that I’ve been visiting almost every week and that’s a quaint restaurant on Purvis St. called Saveur. It’s not like this place needs any more attention than it already has being featured in countless magazines and newspapers, but hey, I’m here to say that all of that is true. It’s that good and girl, you need to go!

hi

Yesterday I decided that today is the day that I’m going to take the pictures and blog about this place. So, I took Trisha, a good friend from Melbourne now staying in Indo. She’s just visiting in Singapore and it was so good seeing her! She’ll be starting work in a few weeks so I’m glad she got to fit in Singapore before everything starts!

trisha

First up was the Salmon Confit. This is my all time favourite starter. It is salmon cooked in its own “fat” with a green apple salad and chives and the black bits you see which is kombu, salty seaweed, the yummiest thing ever! The salmon is so soft and melts in your mouth. You can just taste the beauty of the fish which is really hard to find these days. Plus, it’s only 9.90. Saveur is known for being really affordable. If I got this anywhere else, I’d probably be paying twice the price for it. That being said, it’s such a great place to bring people because you have great food and you don’t have to spend that much.

starter

Saveur has five main main courses and they also have a specials menu at the back. I think the best seller is the Duck, which I always order. You can see just order upon order coming out of the kitchen! The duck is absolutely delicious. It is duck leg confit, with the softest home-made mashed potatoes, saute shitake mushrooms, orange segments and orange infused natural jus. It is crispy on the outside and tender, soft and moist in the inside.

duck

For dessert, I totally recommend the creme brulee. I’ve tried every single dessert on the menu and I think this one is my favourite. They have seasonal favourites so the last time I had the creme brulee, it was pandan flavoured (so good) but today it was coffee which didn’t disappoint at all either. The sugar on top complements the coffee really well – kinda like a caramel coffee.

coffee

But of course they don’t just carry normal desserts, they carry pretty innovative ones as well. I love the Textures of Citrus because it’s so refreshing! It is blood orange jelly, served with orange granite, freeze-dried pineapple, feuilletine (the cereal part), citrus segments and lime zest. It’s like the perfect end to the meal and there’s so many cool things going on, you just don’t know where to start!

textures

Overall, it’s never a sad meal at Saveur. It’s totally a must go to place if you haven’t been yet. There is always a queue for their lunch and dinner session so go early to beat the queu. Just like the Transformers Ride in Universal Studios, it’s worth it.

empty

You can find Saveur at 5 & 6 Purvis St. which is just across the National Library. You can stop at City Hall mrt and walk past Chijmes towards the Raffles Hotel and just go straight until you see Maybank and Saveur and Purvis st is just there. They are also opening up a new restaurant starting April 2nd at Far East in Orchard. It used to be the Old Town cafe next to KFC but now it’s going to be Saveur! *happy dance*. Hope I added something to your bucket list this long weekend.

Hey Everyone!

eternal grace

I remember when I was sitting in class back in High School and almost every single friend of mine would ask what I was wearing. It was my beloved ZARA perfume I got in Dubai when I was 15 and it was my very first. My Dad gave me holiday money (score!) and I ended up getting my first concealer from The Body Shop and my first perfume from..Zara. You can tell that I was totally not a clothes kinda girl from the start. Anyway Zara discontinued it and I’ve been on the hunt for something similar for a very long time.

It was in London when the Philosophy Eternal Grace perfume and I first met. It was a long day trying to find the boyfriend a Christmas present making my way through Selfridges and I ended up in the beauty hall across the candy aisle. Amongst other cult favourites stood Philosophy and looking at the popularity of Grace, I decided to give all three a whiff. Eternal Grace was clean, crisp, subtle, sweet and charming. It smelled just like my Zara perfume when I was 15. I was overjoyed! But I didn’t buy it that day and I regretted it ever since so when I saw it at the Philosophy counter in Singapore, I handed over the mooh-lah in an instant. I have no regrets despite adding yet another perfume to my collection. It is the perfect citrusy floral scent for everyday and smells amazing. You have no idea. It’s seriously a must-have, a long lost love now found and my favourite.

Scent Profile: Bergamot, citrus, neroli, geranium, lavender, violet, passion fruit, musk and amber.
