Hey Everyone!

Fall is basically here and it’s one of my favourite seasons not just because of the pretty leaves but it’s the make-up looks that I love too! Here in Singapore, we don’t get fall unfortunately but that doesn’t stop me from delving into fall colors and makeup! My latest acquisition is the Urban Decay Pulp Fiction palette from Urban Decay’s fall 2014 collection! You can get it at Sephora and it retails for SGD $52, if you’re curious.

The Urban Decay Pulp Fiction palette consists of 5 shades that is a mix of subtle shimmer and totally matte. Righteous, Tyranny and Anger are all matte colors while Vengence and Furious have hints of shimmer. It’s the perfect palette for fall because when I think of a fall look, this palette is a classic example. They’re all shades of brown and cream with the exception of a very useful matte black. Along with the collection is a lip pencil, lipstick and nail polish in Mrs. Mia Wallace which is a dark red that I didn’t get. Instead, I dug up Guerlain’s Iris Noir lip pencil to sub in for my lips! Today I’m going to be showing you how to do this beautiful look that will for sure turn heads this fall!

I’m sure we all have our own list of favourite apps that we can’t live without. Being possibly addicted to technology, I know I have mine. For me, I’m always on the lookout for apps that make my life easier OR apps that connect me to the rest of the world. I’m not much of a gamer although on some nights, I just download a bunch if I need to de-stress! In fact, my tablet or phone is the first thing I reach for right before I sleep and right when I wake up! Here are my top five favourite apps that I love! I’ll be showcasing them on my new tablet – the Samsung GALAXY Tab S (10.5”) LTE- just because it’s bigger and a beauty. (Thank you Samsung Asia for sponsoring me this new tablet!)

Hey Everyone,

important

Do you know how important YOU are? Most of the time we always underestimate ourselves. I know I always do. I always doubt how much I mean to someone, doubt how much I can do and most of all, doubt what I can do. And I think this really needs to stop. A lot of what we need to achieve in life cannot be done simply because we cannot believe in ourselves. It’s for sure a struggle that I’m still battling.

My question is – Why do we always need to prove ourselves to other people? I always feel sad when my salary doesn’t hit the salary my parents expect from me. I always feel insecure when I feel like I don’t look the part. I feel insuffcient when my job description doesn’t sound like everybody elses. But, Why don’t we turn the tables and try to prove ourselves to…. ourselves. That’s how important you are. You are the only person you need to impress. You are the only person you need to prove yourself to. You are the only person you need recognition from. You are the only person you need validation from.

I’m glad to say that my skin is finally getting better and better. That means I get to be more experimental with my skincare! I am truly a huge fan of Aveda products. Their Dry Remedy™shampoo has literally healed my hair after so much color and treatment damage and their hair products actually work. Even my boyfriend uses their products now on his hair! But hair isn’t the only thing that Aveda is known for, they have skincare ranges as well! In my last post, I visited the Aveda Experience Centre at Ngee Ann City for the Aroma Sensory Journey and Hairstyling Ritual where an Aveda daymaker chose the specific products that suited me best!

Hey Everyone!

bathina

I confess, I’m obsessed. When I pop the cap open and smell Bathina, it takes me back to my Uni days. I wore this scent during my 2nd year of Uni when my friend gave it to me as a gift. I started wearing it after my shower daily and after that, I loved it so much, I kept wearing it out. For a while until the bottle finished, it became my classic and signature scent. That says a lot since I’m quite picky with..well how I smell.

Benefit’s Bathina is just one of those scents you can’t forget. It’s something that is perfectly sweet and flirty but still complex and complicated. It smells amazing, and to this, it’s for sure an understatement. No joke, girls. So when I saw the new bottle, you can probably say I was thrilled. The old bottle was just a pink tall glass bottle that was pretty generic. Now, it’s looks like a pink genie is going to pop out of the bottle and grant you three wishes. Now that’s an improvement.

Some may say that when it comes to make-up, there are no rules. I have to..half agree. Yes it’s great to be creative and have a blast, but if you don’t have a basic understanding of a few principles it can make it a little bit harder. Whether it be tools, technique or theory – there is a lot to be learned and when you’ve solidified a good foundation you can have even more fun! Here are five make-up tips that I believe everyone should know. They’re essential!

1. Follow your natural contours – your face is your BEST guide

When make-up artists come straight out of school, one thing I notice is that they always follow the template that they learned at school no matter what eye shape they’re working on. And that’s not a good at all. Similarly, you can’t believe that all shapes of faces were created equal. The best trick is to follow your natural contours. Take a moment and feel where your face shape is – where your eye pops out of the socket (that’s the crease) or where your cheeks sink in (that’s where you contour). Every face is different and to be honest when you’re doing make-up, the face is the best guide. For me, I use it as a map and when I do, I can basically enhance the features that are already there. It’s my make-up secret. I observe where the eye folds in and gradually add shadow to it and I observe where light hits the face and where shadow forms to create a look that suits the person I’m doing make-up on to a T.
