Hey Everyone!

hi

It’s always a good thing to hear about new products a little earlier than everyone else, especially when they haven’t hit the stores yet. So, here’s a new one for you –  the Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle and Pore Reducing Cream (let’s refer to it as the PWPRC)! This new cream from Kiehl’s will only be available in stores next month (in May) and is a brand new anti-ageing and wrinkle fighter cream!

wrinkles

But you’re probably thinking  - Roseanne, you’re far from getting wrinkles, you’re only 22! True but did you know that the loss of elasticity in your skin begins in our twenties? Maintaing elasticity is fundamental to preserving our supple faces – it keeps us from forming facial lines. The Kiehl’s PWPRC is unique because it uses two ingredients – Copper PCA and Calcium PCA. I mean have you ever heard of copper skincare?

smooth

Kiehl’s found out that to protect and improve the skin’s elasticity, you have to organize and protect the skin’s elastic fiber network, protect and strengthen the skin barrier and restore hydration at the same time. It’s a multi-pronged approach. The science behind using Copper as a key ingredient in this skincare product stems from the fact that Copper and Calcium are both micronturients that are required by the human body to function. They then paired this with PCA that is naturally found in our skin, so it’s overall absorbed even better by our body. If we want to get even deeper into the science of things, Copper helps to simulate our DNA to produce more elastin, binds to lysyl oxidase that helps in the linking of elastin and it is lined to the remodeling of elastin through the regulation of key enzymes. It’s also an antioxidant that helps protect the skin from stress and pollution.  Calcium on the other hand, is critical for cell turnover and regulation of the lipid barrier process that helps the skin to absorb nutrients better. Overall, it’s a great combination!

hydration

Science out of the way, the textures of the cream are extremely rich and thick. This is for those of us who need a heavy duty moisturiser, it almost has a texture similar to Lanolin creams you can find in Australia. Saying that, it looks like it can for sure improve our pores and deliver intense hydration – which is actually great for pores and blackheads because it looses them up. I still need to try it out more to get a verdict in! There’s the PWPRC cream and also the eye cream!

eye

So what’s the research stats? Within 4 weeks, a consumer study found out that 81% reported fine lines and wrinkles were visibly reduced and 89% said that their skin texture appears smoother.  A clinical study found a 49% reduction in puffiness and 38% reduction in dark circles too. Thats definitely something to look forward to come May.

I just wanted to also comment that Kiehl’s is having a price cut! And a permanent price-cut for even their top best sellers! Expect about 20% discount for the items pictured below. I’m throughly excited to say that their Calendula Toner, Ultra Facial Cleanser and Cream and Creme De Corps are all at lower prices! Gotta check them out now at Kiehl’s stores!!

pcut

Kiehl’s has always been on my need to try out list and I’m finally getting into the mood of it! I’m using the SPF 50 now and loving it so I will do a review soon!

Stay tuned to more updates :) Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below!

Hey Everyone!

hi

I think one of the challenges with starting any make-up artist career is building a kit. Not only do you need to get your shade, you need to be able to provide for everyone else’s. While you were opening your awesome Christmas presents, I was opening this. My boyfriend gave me a make-up artist’s dream – the Bobbi Brown BBU Face Palette! Best boyfriend in the world award? Pretty much.

The Bobbi Brown BBU Face palette is not available in retail stores, and is only available online. It is inspired by Bobbi’s own make-up palette that she uses when she works and features her correctors, concealers and foundation sticks. It has a great amount of shades and is perfect for a make-up artist because it is portable and provides for people with light or dark skin an anyone in between.  I’ve used her foundation sticks at school and bought one for myself at the airport (go duty free) and love it! But enough talk, let’s open this baby!

All nicely wrapped, of course I had my paws already on Christmas so the wrapping is all torn up. Oopsies.

sdfsdf

So the Bobbi Brown BBU Face Palette features 11 shades of corrector and 14 shades of creamy concealer. Correctors are used to neutralise under eye circles which explains why they are peachy or yellow based to counteract ashy and blue shades. You apply the correctors first before your concealer under the eyes. Of course there are many other correctors out there like – green to fight off redness and lilac to fight off sallowness. It’s all about the color wheel really. Typically the peachier the corrector is, the more it is suited for correcting darker skin.

corrector

The palette also includes 20 colours of foundation sticks. I love the Bobbi Brown foundation stick and I will do a review soon! I love how it really blends into the skin. When you see the swatches, you’ll see how it blends right in. What I also like about Bobbi Brown is that they really do provide for the more warmer skin tones, including a good amount of yellow. Even their bb cream suits me because it is yellow toned as I myself am quite warm. However, people who have a cooler undertone often complain.

backview

Time for swatches! It’s quite hard to swatch foundation right, especially when it matches so well to the skin. It’s quite cool too. If I ever need to get a foundation or concealer from Bobbi Brown again, I’ll know my shade exactly since I…I guess have all the shades now!

Swatches for the foundation stick. They are extremely creamy when you warm it with your fingers but when you take it from the tube, they are stiff enough to apply. It’s a great product because it knows what you want. When you apply it, you don’t want it to smear everywhere if it’s too creamy but when you need to blend it, it becomes very flexible.

foundationsticks

This palette is my new baby, I’m in love with it and can’t wait to use it and it’s smaller than I expected it to be making it great to bring along!

I’m also back in Singapore already (now this time forever) and it’s time to get cracking. I’m hoping to launch the store at the end of this month so I need to work really hard, I hope I have everyone’s support! It’s going to be fun! That being said, I will have giveaways all throughout January for the store so stay tuned for the blog post about it! I hope you have a fabulous new year :)

Hey Everyone!

When I first came over to London, I was excited to see pretty much two brands – Barry M and SLEEK. Sleek has always been written about in blogs, talked about on YouTube and after getting a Sleek Acid palette online a year ago, I couldn’t help myself to a few Sleek products here. Plus, there was a Superdrug deal (the local health & beauty store) on all beauty items going for 3 for 2 (buy 2 get 1 free) which made these originally £7.99 palettes only about £5 each (about 10 sing dollars). How great right!!

Sleek make-up is actually the drugstore line of NARS, one of my favourite high end brands and it’s really to no surprise.  I’ve been really impressed with the quality of these products. They pride themselves in trying to cater to all skin tones and aim to be fresh, trendy and iconic in the eyes of both you and me and make-up artists. But enough talk, let’s get started!

1. Sleek i-Divine Original Palette

When you look at a Sleek counter at the store, you will see probably six or seven varieties of the Sleek i-Divine palette range which I think is pure awesomeness. I love how they’re like the only drugstore brand that stocks larger palettes. Most of the high street brands usually only have palettes of 3 or 2 shades which isn’t useful if you want to do make-up as a job. The Sleek i-Divine Original Palette boasts twelve shades of super pigmented shadow. I chose this one because it has a good range of non neutral colors like blue and green but also more feminine colours like pinks and coppers. There’s sort of a great range of things you can do with this palette!

I find Sleek eyeshadows and all the eyeshadows to be really quite pigmented, creamy and blendable which is really handy with so many colors. The shadows have quite a good reflex on them as well and with a primer, they are really quite good.

2. Sleek i-Divine Primer Palette

The next thing I got was the Sleek Primer Palette. This is a palette that consists of 12 shades of primers but most of the darker colours can actually act as cream shadows. The palette calls you to actually apply these as primers with shadows on top to boost the colours and not really as cream shadows so you have to keep this in mind when you swatch some of the lighter colors! I really do love this palette and it does the job great for enhancing eye-shadows. I’ve only recently learnt that this is so important to getting that super pigmented look.

3. Sleek i-Divine Storm Palette

The last one I’ll talk about is my favourite. There’s another neutral Sleek palette called the Au Natural but I think if you were to get a neutral palette from Sleek, you should get this one. I mean, how many shades of matte brown do you need? This one gives you exactly what you need with room for more. It’s kind of like an expanded Wet N’Wild comfort zone palette.

Not only does it have golds, creams, and pinks. The matte cream and matte brown will be your go to colors for bridal or beauty shots. Then, you have a smokey eye palette right in there too including the dark green and shimmery and not to mention beautiful indigo blue. Plus, a matte black, copper, and dark brown. It’s like everything you need to go from a day look to a night look. It’s perfect.

Other than that, I also picked up a corrector and concealer palette and my first creme to powder foundation from Sleek. As you can see, they are far from my original skin tone color. Last Saturday was my first sort of “work for free” job doing the make-up for the auditions of a modelling competition. There were only four of us make-up artists and more than 30 models to do, it was like a conveyer belt of models – six hours straight – but I have nothing to complain about because I loved every minute of it. Anyway, what I’ve also realised is that as a make-up artist, you’ll have to get colours that aren’t your shade now but you can still be smart about it. Feel free to mix and match colors to get your exact shade. Plus, I can use the darker color as a cream bronzer too. I love the coverage and texture of both of these products. What can I say? I’m impressed.

So therefore, I decided to do a Sleek giveaway! A lot of you have asked me where you can get Sleek because you’re not here in London after posting a few pictures of my loot on Instagram. I thought why not get some Sleek for y’all! I will be giving away the Sleek Primer Palette here on the blog and the Sleek Storm palette on my Youtube Channel!

Hey Everyone!

I am so excited to share with you my make-up and fashion goodies that I’ve been “collecting” and getting here in the UK! I’m really into affordable drugstore or “high street” as they call it here brands because I know that these are the products that I can’t get anywhere else but in the UK or London!  And, with the store coming along, it also makes for a healthier wallet and a few more savings! :) That being said, the best place to go here in London is Superdrug which is a health/beauty store just like Watsons in Singapore and Priceline in Australia.

We’ve all heard of Sleek and BarryM I’m sure if you’re a beauty blog reader and it was so cool seeing the actual counter at the store! There’s the Sleek Counter and there’s also BarryM as well. Usually we only see these brands on blogs and online shops. But enough talk, here’s what I got!

1. Sleek Face Form Contouring Palette – love at first sight! This has a beautiful blush, matte bronzer and highlighter that’s just the perfect shimmer in an all in one palette. Plus, they have ample quantities of each. Imagine never having to lug around three products anymore. Just grab this and go! Totally review worthy!

2. MUA Nail Constellation (Nail Caviar Pearls) – Who doesn’t want to make their nails like cupcakes with sprinkles on top! Check out my blog post on putting them on. They’re great, easy to use and cheap as well.

3. MUA Professional Brow Kit – I’ve been reading loads of UK beauty blogs lately and everyone seems to be reviewing the professional brow kit from MUA (otherwise known as Make-Up Academy). I like how it has highlighter, wax, the brow definer and even a pair of tweezers. To be honest, the highlighters come off as a bit light though so you might want to be careful there!

4. Vaseline Pink Bubbly Lip Balm - My friend Ting recommended me this lip balm and I am in love with the smell. It’s a limited edition flavour and smells like grapefruit and a bit of champagne. Very classy and of course pretty moisturising too. It also adds a nice sheen to the lips when applied.

5. Simple Intensive Moisturiser - If there’s winter, my body tends to dry up fast and even show a bit of cracking. I know that’s horrible so I need an intensive moisturiser. With no fragrance or extra irritants, I’ll see how this goes. However, it is quite hard to blend in so far!

6. MUA Heaven & Earth Palette - The moment I saw this, I thought it would be a great dupe for the Naked 2 Palette. I love how it is lightweight and actually has great colours and pigmentation. I wouldn’t say it’s an exact dupe as it’s missing a few colours but it’s for sure good effort and beats the price hands down.

7. BarryM Black Nail Paint – The only reason why I got this was because I needed a black nail polish for the MUA nail constellation *cheesy smile*. It’s an average nail polish but I’m for sure on the lookout to try more BarryM. Any suggestions?

I’ve also been caught shopping at Primark lately as well. Primark is a super affordable shop to get all your clothes especially basics, is actually pretty fashionable and trendy, and also has a Men’s and Home floor as well! It’s a great place to take a break from all the swanky boutiques to get your winter cardigans or even cute tops at great prices.

I am in love with sheer, chiffon tops. Of course I won’t be wearing these during the winter in London, but these are essentials for the Singapore weather when I’m back. I love the pearl beaded collar on this!

And then I got a straight cut floral top as well! It has a cut in the back and I really like it!

Of course no haul is complete without some bottoms. I chose lace shorts. These were an affordable 12 or so pounds which I thought was really value for money.

I’m probably known in my family to very easily break shoes. So I also picked up two pairs of those flats. They’re basic, cute and classic and I also scored a pair of ankle heeled boots. I love these and they add a bit of “spice” into any winter look.

Last but not least, I’m actually wearing some of the jewlery from my upcoming online store. Would love your support for it at the facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/roseanne.sg  And once we get to 1,000 likes, there will be a mega giveaway across all my channels!

I really hoped you like this haul. I’ve had an incredible month in London so far. I even got recognised at the tube station by one of you which was a bit of a shock, but for sure a pleasant one. Shoutout to Grace! I start make-up school tomorrow!! I won’t be able to paint my nails except on the weekend. I don’t know what to expect but I hope it’ll be good and I can’t wait to share some make-up tips and tricks with you!

Hey Everyone!

To be honest, the first time I saw Cetaphil was  when it was stacked up in my parent’s bathroom. My Dad swears by the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser which was recommended by his dermatologist  for helping cure his skin condition at the back of his neck. He has been using it every day and has seen massive improvements . Yet it wasn’t probably the first time I heard about it either. Cetaphil has long been a holygrail product that is not only effective but affordable .  I remember way back  when the first time I used it and I fell in love with it’s non-soap formula. Like an old flame,  I’ve fallen in love again so when Cetaphil contacted me to be their Cetaphil Facebook Expert Tips Ambassador, I couldn’t be happier.

As Ambassador, I will be  giving webisodes of my Skincare tips  answering your questions on topics from how to remove make-up properly to protecting your skin daily. Join me on the Cetaphil Singapore Facebook Page if you want to be part of it all! So here’s a haul of Cetaphil’s best sellers so you can get the low-down on these babies and how to win a  full set of Cetaphil Products later of your own!

1. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser  (237 mL)

The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser ought to be the star of the show. It has been talked about so much and it really is like nothing I’ve tried before. Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin cleanser is not only suitable for all skin types, it can cleanse both the body and face (which is why my Dad uses it for his body and I use mine for my face).

It’s a very versatile product and because the gel that you pour out is so gentle, it doesn’t cause skin irritation and can be used for even the most sensitive of skin. The cleanser also happens to be soap-free and pH balanced (did you know that our skin has an optimal pH and that most cleansers aren’t pH balanced therefore stripping away natural oils?) – bet you didn’t. And better yet, it can be used with our without water making it great for removing foundation.

Although you’ll have to wait till I do a full review, I’ve loved it for a while now. When you pour it out onto your hand, it is a cloudy smooth and silky gel. It’s as if the cloudy bits make it so silky. As you apply the cleanser, you can really feel it gliding and it is unlike any other cleanser – it’s just soft and smooth..and well a little hard to describe. Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser is also fragrance free which is great. Cetaphil is not only recommended by dermatologists, it’s affordable and accessible by people like you and me.

2. Cetaphil DailyAdvance Hydrating Lotion (85g)

The Cetaphil DailyAdvance Hydrating Lotion although it claims to be for dry to very dry skin can also be used for normal skin. Not only is it a face moisturiser, it also is great for your body too just like the Cetaphil cleanser. It’s core offering is it’s Epidermal Replenishing Complex that hydrates skin for 24 hours and it’s quickly absorbed.

The lotion is more luxurious and creamy than what is expected out of a lotion. It absorbs quickly and I like to use it for my arms and can’t wait to use it more in London when the winter comes and I’ll be scrambling for moisturisers!

3. Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Sunscreen (550mL)

I’m always on the look-out for the next best sunscreen. These skincare products are one of the most important but is often overlooked. When we think skincare, we think of cleansers, toners and moisturisers but to seriously care for your skin, we are always in need for a good sunscreen. The Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense sunscreen is actually SPF 50+ which is a pretty high SPF, great for whether like Singapore..or Australia where the suns rays can be pretty potent. It is also suitable for all skin types, provides broad spectrum  UVA/UVB protection, is easily absorbed and leaves no white residue. Even better, you can use it for body too the next time you’re at the beach.

I’ve been using this daily but I haven’t come up with a consensus just yet, you’ll have to wait for my full review . It gives you a fantastic glow and after you properly work it into the skin, the white residue quickly disappears which is great for make-up fanatics like you and me!

Did you know this sunscreen ha s ablend of 7 UV filters? Pretty noteworthy.
