Hey Everyone!

1

I’m sure us ladies are always on the hunt for that perfect lip gloss. One that isn’t sticky, doesn’t clump at the end of the day one that can make our lips that much juicer. Well ladies, I have your answer – it’s the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited Lip glosses. I have been trying these out for a while and I have fallen in love with them. They aren’t sticky, are really hydrating in fact and come in so many colors, you can probably have one for every outfit! In this post, I’ll be doing a review, tutorial on trendy lip gloss looks as seen on Spring runways, showing you some of my personal favourites and ending with a giveaway of one of them!

2

Shu Uemura has always been on the top of their game. They’re probably top in innovation and technology in cosmetics and are known for their vivid colors and breaking boundaries. You’ve seen them at every department store or mall and you probably have their eye-lash curlers. I raise my hand. Even when I was in make-up school, Shu Uemura was all our teachers (who have been doing makeup for like 20 years) could talk about. They said that their amazing quality and brushes surpasses all other make-up brands.

3

So here I am introducing you the new Shu Uemura Lip Gloss – the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited! Shu Uemura has integrated four key elements in these new lip glosses – being a shape memorising technology, artist modulator colors, a skin loving formula and a new applicator!

Previously, Shu Uemura included a rod shaped applicator in its lip glosses. Now, the applicator is a circular shaped donut that can catch just the right amount of lip gloss when you apply it. I love these applicators because they spread the gloss really well and they do trap lip gloss as well. The pointed top makes going into the corners of the mouth a lot easier too.

4

Another cool thing is the shape memorizing technology  When applied, the lip gloss forms a coat following the shape of your lips and even if you touch it, it doesn’t shift or move. It’s powered by a 3D elastic gel network that evelops the lips. When you disturb the surface of the gloss, with pressure or friction, it automatically repairs the smooth surface. It can reflect light well too!

These lip glosses are also super hydrating and really, they aren’t sticky at all. The super smooth formula is caused by a moisture active complex and botanical oils that condition and soften your lips.

5

I’ve always seen Shu Uemura as a real make-up artist brand and it’s so cool to see that they’re encouraging people out there to be make-up artists on themselves with exploring new color boundaries. The lip gloss range also has 4 Artist Modulator colors that you can wear before or after your lip glosses to change the look and texture of them. It’s sort of like on-the-spot customisation! You can mix and match these modulator colors to create new colorful shades or to make it suit your skin tone better.

6

7

Now it’s tutorial time! Today I’m going to show you how to do the trendy two-toned lip that’s been making an appearance everywhere including on the runway and in magazines. It’s a really easy look to do and something that’s really in right now.

8

Simply use a pink lipstick on your upper lip. Choose a vivid color or a sheer color depending on whether you’re more of a bold lip or natural lip gal. Then apply an orange lipstick to your bottom lip. Of course you don’t need to stick to these colours! Find colors that are complimentary to each other and those work too.

9

10

Then, apply your lipgloss! I’m using Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited in AT 60C and applying it to my top lip. It really brings the lip out automatically. Then, I’m using AT 50C on my bottom lip. Make sure you’re careful and if you need to, you can always use a bit of make-up remover and a q-tip to hide any mistakes.

11

And you’re finished!

12

The next look I thought about was how to make lips really have a pout with lipgloss. As a make-up artist, you learn that you don’t always have to stick to the rules and apply lip gloss all over your lips only. You can actually add a lighter lip gloss to the middle of your lips to make them pop and have a pout!

13

I’m using a wine beige lip pencil first and applying that all over my lips. This will help form a nice layer for the lipstick to cling on to and hide any skin tone imperfections. Then, apply a raspberry red lipstick and finish off with a pale orange lipgloss like the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited in OR10C! Using the applicator, just lightly dab the middle of your lips until you get that desired pout!

14

The last look is probably what is on everyone’s mind this season, being Spring. It’s that pretty nude lip! It’s great for even a smokey eye or keeping it natural with pretty pink cheeks to match.

15

Instead of using a lipstick which can be too nude and harsh, I’m using a nude lip pencil to do the trick. I love using this pencil because I can layer it on until I get the desired nude lip. All I have to do is put streaks on my lips and use my finger to blend it out. You’ll see that you’ll have a much more natural nude lip and it helps the nude lips show up on darker skin tones too. Then, I apply Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited PK 60s which is a really pretty fairytale pink with a bit of silver shimmer and that completes your nude lip look!

16

My personal favourites that I’ve been loving lately are the CR 20S, WN 20S, PK 30S and RD 10G. The CR 20S is a beautiful coral and pink shade with a subtle silver reflex. It’s an amazing everyday color that goes well with all make-up looks!

17

I love the WN 20S because it’s such a unique color for a lip gloss – that dark burgundy that’s really in right now as a color. You can go lighter or go all out and use this even without a lipstick and the pigmentation is totally Shu Uemura!

18

The PK 30S is a creamy pink that reminds me of barbie. It’s really pretty and has a multi tone reflex that really makes your lips shine. I feel like it does a really good job plumping the lips too! RD  10G may look really vibrant and bold in the tube but straight on the lips (like these swatches with JUST glosses on and no lipstick ) you can see it really enhances the lips and is quite wearable. It’s a gold and red orange combination that’s super pretty.

Hey Everyone!

review

I’m sure we’ve all dreamnt of a lipstick that doesn’t need touching up and that stays on even after we’ve eaten. And guess what I’ve found, the perfect solution. It’s the new addition to the Revlon lipstick family, the Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede lipsticks. Matte lips have been really in lately too so I was happy to try this baby out!

hi2

The lipstick comes in a cute cylinder/clear casing. As you rotate to draw more lipstick out, it has a clicking sound. Overall, it’s great that you can see the color of the lipstick clearly especially when you’re grabbing between many in your make-up case. No gripes about this one! The one I’m trying out happens to be the one in Finale. It’s a very wearable raspberry red that’s super pretty. In fact, let’s try it on! See how different your look can be when you change up your lips?

start

Oddly enough, when you apply the lipstick, it’s not matte or suede. It’s actually quite moisturising. In fact, there’s even a sheen to it. But before you judge, the lipstick then dries as time passes and as it dries, it clings on to your lips. It has a great texture and color when freshly applied and you have to wait about fifteen minutes for it to dry completely.  lips

This lipstick is indeed transfer resistent. When it’s dry, it doesn’t budge. You can put your fingers to your lips and you will see no lip stains or anything on your fingers. It’s as if you’ve set your foundation with heaps of powder and nothing is going to budge it. It’s fantastic and I haven’t met a lipstick that’s like this before.

smile

The only downside is that it can be a tiny bit drying once its dried especially if you have dry and flaky lips. Remember to moisturise with a lip balm or vaseline before you use this and while it is drying, do not purse your lips or you can get clumps. Do not layer this lipstick after you’ve applied it and do not be generous with the amount of lipstick you apply. The less is better so you can avoid the clumps and take advantage of how long lasting and transfer resistent this lipstick is!

beforeafter

I mean seriously, even after 9 hours, it still looks pretty much the same. I didn’t have to do any touching up at all, and during the time I was out, I did eat and drink but nothing transfered! This is Mag (makeupstash) and I at an event and I received lots of compliments with the color. Hehe. Anyway, it is super long lasting. I mean what lipstick lasts 9 hours and more without touching up.

hhiih

Overall, I think if you need a lippie that lasts all day and is transfer resistent, go for it. But, if you have dry and flaky lips, you might want to give this one a miss. I do like the lipstick though, it’s for sure a ColorStay :)

Hope you liked this post and let me know if you have any questions in the comments!

Hey Everyone!

intro

Putting on eyeshadow that’s not a shade of brown isn’t commonplace for me. Especially lilac. So when Bobbi Brown introduced me to what’s in store for Spring 2013 and their Lilac Rose Collection, I wasn’t convinced that a pastel shade of purple pink could be so inviting. I was wrong. The Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Collection is beautiful and despite what seems like cool tones, they still work on warmer tones like me. The Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Collection was inspired by sweet candy and jellies that Bobbi Brown saw in a jar and it reminded her that lilac could be a universal color for all skin tones. But enough talk, here are some of the stars of the show!

Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Palette – (SGD$99)

The Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Palette is the main attraction of this season’s collection. It features eight shadows in a really smart convertible two-level palette. Simply draw out the little drawer on the bottom to reveal two more shadows of the second level. That being said, the palette consists of flattering dusty pinks, heather greys and lily shades. I love this palette because it caters to both day and night looks and has both matte and shimmery shades. There’s even a matte black that can turn any day look into a look ready for some dancin’. You do have to keep in mind that these shades are not your Sugarpill pigmented kind of colors. I think the reason why is because they want the color to be buildable and for everyday wear – for enhancing the eyes.

4

Here’s a tutorial of the look I did with this palette. As you can see, the shadows are made to be build-able but I wanted a very light day look so I went light with the colors. In the level closest to the mirror, I used the sparkly lilac shade all over the lid. Then, I used the brown in the top right corner of the first level in my crease. I used the gunmetal brown shade in my inner corner and defined a little bit with the matte black brown. Then finished off with eyeliner just on my lid line.

Sparkly Eye – Shadow – Limited Edition Lilac Shade – ( SGD$45 )

I love this eye-shadow, it is amazingly beautiful and pigmented. It’s a great way for women to wear glitter for both day and night especially in the lilac shade.

1

I mean look at the swatch! It’s so beautiful! It has a featherweight formula that instantly lights up the eyes and uses a unique combination of glitter and shimmer pearls in a translucent base. It’s not chalky at all and produces great color. This ought to be my favourite item out of the whole collection.

Brightening Lip Gloss – Lilac Rose – (SGD$36)

This lip gloss has color with a hint of pearlized shimmer to enhance the lips. The lilac rose collection will come out with three new shades – Lilac Rose as featured below, New Pink Lily and Pink Lilac. The lip gloss is smooth and not sticky and even though the lilac rose shade look quite cool, the lip gloss again has build-able lip color and provides just a hint of color. It’s not overwhelming and gives a nice shade to the entire look.

2

Here’s the day look I did with the collection! The colors of the collection really do compliment each other!

Nail Polish – Roza – (SGD$29)

The last item is the nail polish in a limited edition Roza. It was inspired by Bobbi’s editorial manicurist who is known for fashion-forward nail trends and Roza is that shade of heather pink that Bobbi Brown wanted to feature in the collection. It’s a sheer color that’s buildable and a great nude shade!

Hey Everyone,

1.3

Lip liner is one of those love it or don’t know it kind of products. Most of us don’t even use lip liner and reach straight for our lipsticks right? I know I used to. But I find that for bold lips – whether it’s red, pink or even orange –  nothing beats a good lip liner to really define your lips and make sure that your lipstick doesn’t move or fade.

The best lip liners are smooth, easy to apply, sharp and pigmented. You need to be able to get pigment by a very light trace of the pencil. Here’s a simple tutorial on how to apply your lip liner. Of course the way you do this is just like eye liner in that you have thousands of different ways that you can draw the line but here’s how I do the job:

1.4

Start with your cupids bow and draw the line so that it frames your lips exactly. Lightly trace the pencil. Then, connect both ends to the ends of your top lip. Move down to your bottom lip and press your tongue against your chin so that you can see your lip line more clearly. Draw the centre first and connect to the ends of your bottom lip. Then, fill in the lip entirely with the lip pencil. Follow with matching lipstick. Another trick is to set your lipstick with a powder and then apply another coat of lipstick to make sure there will be absolutely no budging whatsoever.

1.1

The stars of this show is my new purchase, the MAC Moorange lipstick which is an Amplified Creme and the LA Girls Endless Lipliner in Nectar kindly suggested by the wonderful Sarah Chaudry or (facesbysarah) during dinner a few days ago. I love this lip liner and it does not budge. Plus it’s 10 bucks so I got myself a neutral shade too. Orange lips are good for this season if you’re looking for a more unique pop of color instead of the standard bright red and pink. It’s an often forgotten lip shade but it can look pretty cool too.

Hey Everyone!

It’s silly, but it’s true. Sometimes with all the lip colours out there, we just don’t know which one to whip on. Do we go pale like Kim Kardashian or pink like Nicki Minaj?

Well, here’s the answer. Simply go 1 or 2 shades darker than your natural lip color to find your most flattering, natural shade. Simply smack your lips together tightly and see the color your lips produce when you let go. That, my love, would be your go to daily lip color. If you want your lipstick to last longer, grab a lip liner and fill in your lips first before applying your lipstick.

Of course you might argue that you’re in love with your nude lips or vintage red lips but it’s really I guess up to you whether you want to take the theory. If you’re experimental with lip colours, just make sure your undertone is right. Warm undertones vs. cool undertones must be taken into consideration with lipsticks being cool or warm.

In my opinion, going too nude, especially if you have dark to medium skin, isn’t flattering, but we all have our own opinions don’t we? Nonetheless, the “theory” says that fair skins look best in fair apricot shades, light pinks or corals. Medium skin tones look best in lips that are slightly darker like berries, muaves, roses. Dark skin tones look best in plums, wines, vivid pinks (if you’re experimental) and brick reds.
