Hey Everyone!

worldfamous

Whenever I pass by the Benefit Counter these days, I’m amazed at how many make-up kits they have. From priming, to eye-shadow to even bronzing, they’re probably the first I’ll think about when I want to buy somebody a gift. That’s because these kits make amazing gifts. I mean who wouldn’t want one of these?

Today I’ll be talking about their new boxes of love – the Benefit World Famous Neutrals Eyeshadow Kits! They are a mouthful to say and remember but just like the other kits they’re offering, they are super easy to follow and provide you with just what you need. There are three varieties – the Most Glamorous Nudes Ever, Easiest Nudes Ever and Sexiest Nudes Ever – courtesy of Eyenessa who’s on the front cover. Stay tuned to find out how you can win one of these!

glam

Lets start with Most Glamorous Nudes Ever (short for MGNE)! The eyeshadow kits feature Benefit’s four long-wear powder eyeshadows and two creaseless cream shadows. I simply love the packaging, comes in a book box and it reminds you that when you’re done with everything, you can take out the shadow part and use it as a box for your precious items!

1

On the top part of the box is an instruction manual with step by step instructions for creating a daytime and night time look with your kit. It’s great for travel but as it doesn’t include liners, you might want to pack that along. I was very much looking forward to trying out the shadows as it will be my first benefit eye-shadow actually!

But seriously, the quality of these shadows were not surprising. They’re fantastic. The creaseless cream shadows went on like a dream, very creamy but great payoff. The shadows were super soft and blend able and both the texture and pigmentation is impressive. My favourite has to be birthday suit and it’s complicated! Such beautiful shades!

But of course, what’s a review in Roseanne’s world without a tutorial. You’ll have to excuse my eyes being a bit pink and red. I had the fan blowing at the side of my face in the morning because it was hot and it must have dried them out a bit. Nonetheless, I followed the instructions for the daytime look!

2

Isn’t this so cute on how it opens up like this? Daytime and..instead of nighttime, they called it play time lol. I love their names. So cute!

To achieve a simple daytime look with the Glamorous Neutrals palette, start by applying Birthday Suit all over the lids. This will act as a good base for your eyeshadow to cling onto.

Then apply It’s Complicated which is a beautiful rose gold shade onto the middle of your lids. Or if you like all over your lids to set your cream shadow.

complicated

After that, apply buff which is a matte cream color to highlight your brows and also in the inner corner! Then, use a synthetic brush with birthday suit again and smoke upwards from the lid line.

buff

Use your favourite eyeliner for your lid line, water line and tight line and you get something like this. Wasn’t that easy? I really feel like Benefit took all the complicated things about eyeshadow and tossed them right out the window! It’s so idiot-proof and you get a pretty fantastic look. I also defined my brows, used Benefit Dandelion blush and a Shu Uemura lip gloss to finish off the look.

3

But the fun doesn’t stop there. There is also Easiest Nudes Ever which features more pink and girly shades. Pink and brown make a great color combination.

easiest

There’s also Sexiest Nudes Ever which is more of a plum smokey eye palette. It’s so gorgeous and very versatile. I always think that plum and purple colors if done right suit everyone!

Although The Body Shop has been renowned for it’s body care and environmentally friendly products, I never really saw it as a make-up brand until they came out with these amazing Colour Crush eye shadows. Newly launched in Singapore, The Body Shop Colour Crush eye shadows come in 30 different shades, all single shadows which make them look just like smarties! They offer both pearl and matte shades and have an extensive colour range from the safe colours to the more wilder pinks, blues and greens.

colors

My ultimate favourite one is this vivid pink because of course you know that vivid pink is totally my colour! The name goes by Berry Cheeky which is a hot berry pink that is really pigmented. I just love how smooth the shadows are and how easily they glide on the skin. They have amazing texture and I’m really surprised since I usually see The Body Shop as more body care than make-up.

cheeky

The reason why they are so pigmented is because they are made with crushed pigments in Italy and they go on really smooth because they are blended with a silky blend of Community Fair Trade oils! I mean look at that swatch, and look at how soft the shadow is. It almost melts into the skin without that chalky feeling.

But you know me, what better way to demonstrate with an easy tutorial. Excuse the eye-brows, they’re properly trimmed right now but not when I did the pictures for this post. Whoops. Life gets busy. Anyway,  I used Sand By Me all over the lids and chocolate linger in the crease to warm it up. This is a great way that you can balance the colour that you’re going to wear later. I then ended off with a tad bit of colour which is the Berry Cheeky in the outer corner coming up from the lash line. You can use a very small angled brush for this – something fluffy and simply dab the colour on. The intensity is already very vivid so make sure you’re doing it in a buildable manner. As you can see, it’s colour made wearable! Then, finish off with eyeliner, mascara and false lashes. I also added a cream yellow in the inner corners which is Golden Girl!

I hope you liked the look! Overall, I love these eye-shadows because they are pigmented, glide on like a dream and totally worth it! The extensive range of 30 shades also means that you can play around with colour!

Hey Everyone!

intro

Putting on eyeshadow that’s not a shade of brown isn’t commonplace for me. Especially lilac. So when Bobbi Brown introduced me to what’s in store for Spring 2013 and their Lilac Rose Collection, I wasn’t convinced that a pastel shade of purple pink could be so inviting. I was wrong. The Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Collection is beautiful and despite what seems like cool tones, they still work on warmer tones like me. The Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Collection was inspired by sweet candy and jellies that Bobbi Brown saw in a jar and it reminded her that lilac could be a universal color for all skin tones. But enough talk, here are some of the stars of the show!

Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Palette – (SGD$99)

The Bobbi Brown Lilac Rose Palette is the main attraction of this season’s collection. It features eight shadows in a really smart convertible two-level palette. Simply draw out the little drawer on the bottom to reveal two more shadows of the second level. That being said, the palette consists of flattering dusty pinks, heather greys and lily shades. I love this palette because it caters to both day and night looks and has both matte and shimmery shades. There’s even a matte black that can turn any day look into a look ready for some dancin’. You do have to keep in mind that these shades are not your Sugarpill pigmented kind of colors. I think the reason why is because they want the color to be buildable and for everyday wear – for enhancing the eyes.

4

Here’s a tutorial of the look I did with this palette. As you can see, the shadows are made to be build-able but I wanted a very light day look so I went light with the colors. In the level closest to the mirror, I used the sparkly lilac shade all over the lid. Then, I used the brown in the top right corner of the first level in my crease. I used the gunmetal brown shade in my inner corner and defined a little bit with the matte black brown. Then finished off with eyeliner just on my lid line.

Sparkly Eye – Shadow – Limited Edition Lilac Shade – ( SGD$45 )

I love this eye-shadow, it is amazingly beautiful and pigmented. It’s a great way for women to wear glitter for both day and night especially in the lilac shade.

1

I mean look at the swatch! It’s so beautiful! It has a featherweight formula that instantly lights up the eyes and uses a unique combination of glitter and shimmer pearls in a translucent base. It’s not chalky at all and produces great color. This ought to be my favourite item out of the whole collection.

Brightening Lip Gloss – Lilac Rose – (SGD$36)

This lip gloss has color with a hint of pearlized shimmer to enhance the lips. The lilac rose collection will come out with three new shades – Lilac Rose as featured below, New Pink Lily and Pink Lilac. The lip gloss is smooth and not sticky and even though the lilac rose shade look quite cool, the lip gloss again has build-able lip color and provides just a hint of color. It’s not overwhelming and gives a nice shade to the entire look.

2

Here’s the day look I did with the collection! The colors of the collection really do compliment each other!

Nail Polish – Roza – (SGD$29)

The last item is the nail polish in a limited edition Roza. It was inspired by Bobbi’s editorial manicurist who is known for fashion-forward nail trends and Roza is that shade of heather pink that Bobbi Brown wanted to feature in the collection. It’s a sheer color that’s buildable and a great nude shade!

So there we have it, your own introduction to Bobbi Brown’s new Spring 2013 Lilac Rose Collection :) It will be in stores in Singapore from March 2013 next month!

Hey Everyone!

naked1

I finally got my hands on the most famous baby of 2013, the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I am in LOVE with Urban Decay eyeshadows as you probably would have known judging from my tutorials and I was so excited when I got my paws on this one.

naked2

The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette features six essential shades – five being matte and one being a frost shade. This is the ultimate palette for neutral eye wearers like me and the matte shades help even mature ladies get the best for their buck. In fact, for more mature women – matte shades help to enhance the eye while shimmer shades enhance the wrong thing such as wrinkles. Nonethless, no matter what shade you are, going matte isn’t a boring idea at all. However, if you’re the more colorful type, you might want to use these colors in the crease that will help contour the eye as a mix of matte and shimmer on the eye can go a long way.

swatchesnaked

I’ve never been really disappointed with Urban Decay eyeshadows. They are creamy, build-a-ble, and really pigmented. I mean look at those swatches! Although not all the shades are new to the Urban Decay Team like Foxy and Venus, it still is a great palette putting all the matte shades together. I love how despite being matte, the shadows still have a great texture and aren’t chalky like some other matte shadows are.

naked3

Here’s an eye look that is SUPER simple – great for any occasion with the Basics palette. I went really quite light but if it’s not smokey for you, just add more color! I used a mix of Foxy and WOS on the lid as the nude base, Naked 2 in the crease and Faint in the outer corner. I then defined my lid line and waterline with Crave, the matte black and finished with eyeliner and mascara!

Hope you liked this look! I also had a great time at the Urban Decay Event at Sephora ION where I got to do a make-up demo using the palette! Here are a few snapshots including Chloe in white as my model after using not only this palette but a few other UD products!

Hey Everyone!

paperself1

The world of creative falsies has always been foreign to me. I mean, when would I find the occasion to wear lashes with red and green feathers or even to the more simple diamonte ones? Probably never. But, going to make-up school helped bring out the crazier side of me and that’s when I learned of Paperself lashes. If you think feathers is a bit too cray cray for you, then how about paper cut out eyelashes? That’s right.

So when eyesbright.com contacted me to see if I’d like to review one of these, I was more than excited. For all of you who are unfamiliar with eyesbright.com, it is one of UK’s leading eye accessories retailers and they provide us not only with cool falsies like Paperself, but also a myriad of different contact lenses – from cat eyes and panther eyes to halloween contact lenses to UV electric blue lenses. They also do face and nail and lip tattoos! SO, if you’re looking to make your next costume better than anyone else’s, you can make it complete by checking out what Eyesbright has to offer. I mean, seriously, what they offer is so quirky and cool, I would hop onto their site just for pure entertainment.

paperself2

Anyways, back to the review. The ones that I chose were the Paperself Deer & Butterfly. These were designed by Ting Yu Wang and feature stunning paper cut outs of deer..and well butterfly and of course some grass. It’s nonethless pretty and an amazing feat by itself.

paperself5

To apply the lashes, you would apply them like any other false lash. I was to be honest a bit concerned with how my DUO eyelash glue would soften the paper but it was fine. There is no band that most lashes seem to have, it’s just totally paper. That being said, be absolutely careful because you could end up ripping something. I used a pair of tweezers to pick them up but to be honest because of the shape, the easiest way to put these on would probably be to use your own fingers.

paperself3

And on myself, I look like I’m ready for a forest photoshoot. These look beautiful on the lashes but to be honest, I don’t think I can find an occasion. I will enjoy using it the next time I have a beauty shoot though. Overall, it was easier to apply and take off than I expected and although delicate, withstood the glue. You do have to be careful though!

paperself4

I don’t know if you noticed, but I didn’t trim the lashes at the end. This is because personally I think these lashes would look better on my eye elongated as I have pretty small eyes and the band is a good width for eyeliner!

I hope you liked this post and do give eyesbright.com a visit!

Love,
Roseanne
