Today I will doing a review on a recent purchase in London – the Rimmel Apocalips! I first heard about these amazing lip lacquers from a fellow youtuber @sunnydahye who insisted I tried them. The recent withdrawal of all Rimmel products from Singapore didn’t allow me to so when I saw it here in London at my local Boots, I made a quick grab to add them to my basket. I thought they’d go on too bold for me to be honest swatching them at the store but I was really surprised at how smooth and lightweight they are.
There are just about 7 or 8 shades of these Apocalips and I got the pretty much the boldest picks of the lot – Stellar and Apocaliptic. There are nudes, a neutral and a couple reds and plums as well. As you know, my standard lip is a good hot pink so I’m always on the hunt for my next favourite when it comes to this shade. These were 6.49 pounds and I had a 3 for 2 deal at Boots which was great. I love the packaging – in this kind of black diamond mountain like appeal as if it’s “earth-shattering” and the applicator is cool in that it has a pocket for the product. This ensures that you don’t have to keep on dipping back into the tube for more which is an issue I always have.
So let’s put them on! The first one is in Apocaliptic which is a bright hot fuchsia pink!
On the lips, it really is true to color at first swatch. It’s so bold and pigmented and you’d expect that something this bold would be really heavy but it is surprisingly lightweight and really smooth. It doesn’t feel like much on the lips which is really amazing! I love the pigmentation that I can wear everyday without my lips drying out.
The second color is Stellar which is a hot pink shade with a peach undertone to it! It is basically the color of my logo which I think is pretty cool.
Again, amazing pigmentation and it is so smooth. It’s not drying and really lightweight. You can draw really bold lips without fearing your lipstick bleeding or smudging too much and the shine is perfect – not to OTT. The product lasts average though so don’t expect it to go all the way. It will last a couple of hours when it may or may not fade naturally.
Overall, these are something to for sure check out if you are able to get your hands on it! There seems to be Rimmel everywhere else besides Singapore so perhaps if you travel, you can get one! I really love them and totally want more to stock up! To follow my travels in London, follow me on instagram @roseannetangrs!
