Hey Everyone!
I am sure we have all heard of mainstream nail polish brands like O.P.I, Essie and China Glaze, but what about indie nail polish brands? Indie nail polish brands tend to be better for you since often they are handmade, 5 – free (meaning that they do not contain camphor, toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde or formaldehyde resins) or 3-free and sometimes cruelty free as well. They are like secret gems in the nail polish world made by passionate and creative people! You can’t find indie nail polish brands just anywhere.
In fact, I don’t know of a place that you can in Singapore except an online store called www.beautysofly.com where I got all these nail polishes I’m going to show you today! It’s an amazing site that has a load of indie nail polish brands you should check out as well as a variety of mainstream brands too. I love the variety on there and shipping is quick and efficient! Let’s get started and explore my favourite glitter ones!
The first brand is Laquerlicious – one of my favourite indie nail polish brands. Laquerlicious is owned by a lady in the U.S named Michelle – “My name is Michelle and I am the sole creator/owner of Laquerlicious! I brainstorm, create, bottle, package and ship out polishes all by myself! I started Laquerlicious in July-October of 2012 and it’s been a fantastic adventure. Never would I have thought I could take a vision, put it in a bottle and people would actually want to buy it! Thank you for your continuous support from the bottom of my heart!“ and “Laquerlicious polishes are 5-free, which means they do not contain camphor, toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde or formaldehyde resins. In addition to being 5-Free, they are cruelty-free. They are made from high quality base, cosmetic grade glitter and/or cosmetic grade micas/pigments.”
I have so many favourites from Laquerlicious including Daisy Fresh (which is the perfect spring time nail polish – reminds me of easter egg hunting), Bite My Tongue (which needs to be layered on more to produce a mystical effect) and of course Strawberry Cosmo is such a high intensity pink glitter! So gorgeous and special. I have never seen glitter combinations that are so creative before.
All these Laquerlicious swatches are two coats of the color and as you can see the nail polish is not sheer. In fact, two coats for such high intensity makes these nail polishes a great grade even though you might hesitate that they were handmade. I feel it just adds to its authenticity and originality!
The next brand I like is Glimmer By Erica! Glimmer by Erica main focus is on chunky glitter combinations with a clear base coat. They are all 3-free and amazingly beautiful. Because these have clear base coats, I suggest that you go ahead and layer them. I stayed consistent with my two coats since I would rather you see what two coats is like then layering seven on!
This is Matte About You by Glimmer By Erica! I love this one, looks just like carnival circus polka dots. A great way to use this is to have that gradient effect with the glitter on the tips. I have that on right now with a teal shade and Matte About You on my tips!
I love this one too! On Wednesdays We Wear Pink! The owner of beautysofly loves Mean Girls and they made this specially for her. Such a gorgeous pink glitter with silver flecks!
Overall, indie nail polishes are worth checking out! It’s fun to be experimental! You can find out more indie polishes on www.beautysofly.com :) Have a great day!
Love,
Rsoeanne
