Review: The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso Overnight Triple Boost Serum

Hey Everyone!

bs1

I’ve recently added a brand new serum to my nightly skincare routine and decided that today I wanted to share it with you! It’s the new The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso Overnight Triple Boost Serum. A serum is a skincare product that  you apply after your toner and before your moisturiser. It typically has a higher concentration of a particular active ingredient that does all sorts of different things from brightening your skin to making it more hydrated.

bs2

A brighter complexion is on everyone’s wish list. You can either DIY it – they say a mix of lemon juice, egg whites and honey works – or you can simply get a good serum to do the trick. I have been using The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso Overnight Triple Boost Serum for a while and I love that I wake up in the morning brighter and more hydrated. In total, it increases hydration, brightness and translucency of your skin.

This particular serum contains The Body Shop’s Shiso Complex that involves four main ingredients – Shiso, Liquorice, Aloe Vera and Vitamin C. Shiso is actually a Japanese leaf and the onesThe Body Shop uses is harvested organically in Hokkaido. It is known for its medicinal properties and in this case it’s able to lessen melanin production which is responsible for dark spots and uneven skin. The liquorice helps to penetrate even the deeper cell levels to restrict melanin production while Aloe Vera helps to hydrate the skin. Last of all, Vitamin C helps to brighten the skin. Note that this is an overnight serum. The Body Shop found out that we produce melanin even through the night so they developed this serum to help lessen the amount of melanin your melanocytes produce while you sleep. It’s the perfect night serum to use.

The texture of this serum is a cream gel consistency. It still has a moisturising feel to it but it’s nothing too heavy and almost gel-like. It is extremely lightweight and leaves no sticky residue at all which I love. I wake up in the morning with super soft skin and a brighter complexion at that. So I thought why not show you my nightly beauty routine with both the Body Shop Drops of Youth concentrate and the new The Body Shop Moisture White Shiso Overnight Triple Boost Serum.

bs4

Let’s get started! After cleansing my skin, I will usually skip my toner. I’m not really big on using toner so after cleansing, I move straight to using my serums. The first one I use is The Body Shop Drops of Youth concentrate.

bs6

The Drops of Youth concentrate is actually 98% organic and uses Babassu oil and Criste-Marine stem cell complex to revive your skin. I usually take a few drops on my palm and then pat it into my skin.

bs7

After that is fully absorbed (which doesn’t take much time at all), it’s time for my Moisture White Shiso Overnight Triple Boost Serum. Again this is an overnight serum as the name implies so use it at night to stop melanin production in its tracks.

bs8

I usually squeeze some onto the back of my hand before applying. It’s a super lightweight creamy gel texture. It still has a hold to it which I like. I feel like it is really moisturising my skin instead of just a watery serum.

bs9

The Body Shop actually recommends a 3-point relaxation massage to go along with this particular serum. The first is called “In Between Brows”. Simply use your ring finger and pinky and massage the inner corners of your eyes in circular motions. For “Temple points”, use your middle finger and index finger to massage your temples and then use your ring finger and pinky to massage your laugh lines. I love these massages because they totally get you relaxed and ready for bed. This also helps the serum absorb better into your skin and improves circulation around your face.

And that’s it for you! If my skin feels particularly dry, I do use an extra moisturiser but to be honest, most nights I don’t need to because the serum actually feels really hydrating on the skin already. Overall I really liked this serum. I love how the texture is so lightweight but still hydrating and I do wake up in the morning with a nice inner glow. I love the whole idea of using an overnight serum to brighten the skin!

I also wanted to let you know about another product The Body Shop is launching as well and that I have been trying out to touch-up during the day. It’s The Body Shop Moisture White Bright Complex Foundation! It’s basically a powder foundation but as you can see, part of it is also a highlight. It gives you a nice 3D glow and is the first multi-dimensional brightening powder foundation from The Body Shop.

You can use this in three ways – combining the foundation and highlighter together or using each separately on its own. If you do that though, I’d suggest adding the highlight only where light specifically hits your face, not all over. The glow is actually quite nice on this powder and it’s quite finely milled as well. I need to try it more though for a proper review!

I really hope you liked this post and thank you to The Body Shop for sponsoring this post.

Much Love,
