Hey Everyone!

review

I’m sure we’ve all dreamnt of a lipstick that doesn’t need touching up and that stays on even after we’ve eaten. And guess what I’ve found, the perfect solution. It’s the new addition to the Revlon lipstick family, the Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede lipsticks. Matte lips have been really in lately too so I was happy to try this baby out!

hi2

The lipstick comes in a cute cylinder/clear casing. As you rotate to draw more lipstick out, it has a clicking sound. Overall, it’s great that you can see the color of the lipstick clearly especially when you’re grabbing between many in your make-up case. No gripes about this one! The one I’m trying out happens to be the one in Finale. It’s a very wearable raspberry red that’s super pretty. In fact, let’s try it on! See how different your look can be when you change up your lips?

start

Oddly enough, when you apply the lipstick, it’s not matte or suede. It’s actually quite moisturising. In fact, there’s even a sheen to it. But before you judge, the lipstick then dries as time passes and as it dries, it clings on to your lips. It has a great texture and color when freshly applied and you have to wait about fifteen minutes for it to dry completely.  lips

This lipstick is indeed transfer resistent. When it’s dry, it doesn’t budge. You can put your fingers to your lips and you will see no lip stains or anything on your fingers. It’s as if you’ve set your foundation with heaps of powder and nothing is going to budge it. It’s fantastic and I haven’t met a lipstick that’s like this before.

smile

The only downside is that it can be a tiny bit drying once its dried especially if you have dry and flaky lips. Remember to moisturise with a lip balm or vaseline before you use this and while it is drying, do not purse your lips or you can get clumps. Do not layer this lipstick after you’ve applied it and do not be generous with the amount of lipstick you apply. The less is better so you can avoid the clumps and take advantage of how long lasting and transfer resistent this lipstick is!

beforeafter

I mean seriously, even after 9 hours, it still looks pretty much the same. I didn’t have to do any touching up at all, and during the time I was out, I did eat and drink but nothing transfered! This is Mag (makeupstash) and I at an event and I received lots of compliments with the color. Hehe. Anyway, it is super long lasting. I mean what lipstick lasts 9 hours and more without touching up.

hhiih

Overall, I think if you need a lippie that lasts all day and is transfer resistent, go for it. But, if you have dry and flaky lips, you might want to give this one a miss. I do like the lipstick though, it’s for sure a ColorStay :)

Hope you liked this post and let me know if you have any questions in the comments!

Hey Everyone!

I’m down to my final week in Australia and although most of my make-up is packed up and bubble-wrapped and I probably swore to myself not to buy anymore, I came across these two babies and I couldn’t resist. But trust me, I do have a decent explanation for purchasing and that is well, I’ve never tried anything like them before and they are both spankin’ new products . Plus, I’m leaving so I should be putting my paws on everything I can’t get back in Singapore! Here’s a little haul of the Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Make-Up foundation and the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam! I am throughly excited to review both but here are my first impressions of each of them if you’re already on the edge of your seats.

Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foaming Foundation:

The Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam is a foaming foundation. The first time I spotted a foaming foundation was back in Singapore, I think it’s called the Maybelline BB Mousse but I didn’t get it (yet). I was also a bit concerned with the skin care effects of these products. I mean, make-up in a can? I didn’t know if it would harm my skin because of the extra “chemicals” required to make it into a foam, but hey I guess the newest generation of foundations deserve a try right? This one in particular is supposed to be a very lightweight foundation that is able to give a flawless finish by releasing fine pigments, is SPF 16, ideal for normal skin and apparently won’t clog pores. Sounds good to me so far.

I think when I bought this, I really didn’t know what was comin’. The first time I pressed the nozzle, I was really surprised as the foam immediately grew before my eyes. I did also notice that it does oxidize on your hand as you can see the color differences in the next two pictures. It’s a very light feeling, airy kind of thing, unlike anything I have tried before.

When I first applied it on my skin, it was pretty ridiculous. I really didn’t know what I was doing. I am after all applying foam on my face. However, despite the application, the foundation almost disappeared into my skin almost covering a light and natural layer so that I don’t feel like I’m wearing anything at all but it still is able to give me medium to full coverage which was utterly amazing. I really liked it despite my sneaking suspicion that I might probably break out from it, but I guess we will have to see. It doesn’t oxidize that much on my face but it does oxidize a lot on my hand.

Relvon Colorstay Whipped Creme Make-Up Foundation

The Revlon ColorStay Whipped Creme make-up will officially be my first creme foundation. It comes in a pot and is a very luxurious feeling foundation, almost like a night cream yet it does have a mousse like silky texture which I really like. As you would know, I’m impressed by the original liquid Revlon Colorstay foundation for it’s perfect coverage, ability to control oil and it’s long-wearing abilities even though it does feel a bit heavy. I expect this one to be much more hydrating and in that sense more natural feeling but still have that long wear and perfect coverage.

Revlon claims this baby to have a silky mousse like texture, will make you flawless and give you all day flexible wear and result in a soft matte finish. It is supposed to be a full coverage foundation that will withstand heat and humidity. I like the last point as I’m going back to humid and tropical weather back in Singapore and for me, glowy and hydrating foundations are the best for that climate because you don’t end up looking like a cakey mess.

When I first applied the foundation, I was really surprised by how mousse like it feels, much more than an actual cream even though it looks so much more like a cream. It is very silky when applying it and it does give medium to full flawless coverage. I did not however see my foundation lasting longer than the original revlon colorstay foundation and it did give me a soft semi-matte finish. I’m excited to try this out more as I am in love with the texture!

So there we have it! My two new foundations that I will be reviewing in the next few weeks! Stay tuned! By the way as you can tell, I changed my layout after hours of coding (and I mean hours – I stayed up till 4am, and woke up at 8am to continue coding the rest of the day) and I hope you like it. You better like it. JOKES. Lol. I wanted it to be cleaner and simpler. The other I reckon was too in your face, so I wanted this to be a place of peace and serenity (if at all). I should sleep.

Have you tried these foundations yet, what do you think?

Hey Everyone!

I don’t know how many times I saw these babies on instagram, being tweeted and being ripped off the shelves at Priceline. Despite telling myself time and again that I didn’t need a new lipstick, I just had to. Plus priceline had a 2 for 1 deal and buying them at a regular 20+ dollar tag was way too out of my league for a drugstore purchase. I have to say that these are absolutely wonderful, now let’s take a look at why.

The Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters state that:

So basically, you’re looking at absolutely moisturising lipsticks that have hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula and are said to boost moisture by 156% which is huge. What’s unique is that it has a gel formula and provides sheer to medium color with buttery shine. I like it already. I don’t tend to like my lipsticks super buttery though if that makes sense. I’d a rather a lipstick that feels natural on my lips than one I can “slip and slide” with.

Watch the Review Video Here!

Packaging:

Packaging of these lip butters are average. A plastic dingy thing encases them and when you twist the lipsticks out, the mid section wobbles a bit. I love the names though. They come in names like lollipop and creme brulee. Yummy!

Applying the Revlon Lip Butters

But really, what’s a review if I don’t put them on. When you first purchase the lip butters, they are quite stiff being brand new. They “melt” as you use them more and more. That being said, when you swatch them at the store, they are really buttery because everyone has had their hands on them. So don’t be baffled at the texture when you first open them. Use them a few times and they will become very buttery.

The lip butters glide smoothly on and they are exceptionally moisturizing. Think mid between the Chanel Rougue Allure and the YSL Rougue Volupte (Click on their names for their own respective reviews). I am in love with the gel formula and it really “shines” through. The lip butters leave a good amount of shine. You still feel them on the lips but nothing too annoying.

Color Ranges of Lip Butters Available:

There is a huge color range available but I had trouble finding a suitable color match for me. Most of the colors seemed really not wearble for daily wear and were colors like bubblegum pink or peach nudes that I just did not look good in. I stumbled on Sugar Plum and Raspberry Pie as my “best matches”. Sugar Plum is a fantastic fall color which is a brick red undertone plum. I love how it matches the make-up naturally and even better, it’s has the lip butter texture. One of my favorite lipstick colors!

The next color is Raspberry Pie which is a bright pink, red. A bold color that I don’t necessarily always take off the shelf but hey, I needed something different in my collection for once.

It’s a beautiful bold color on my lips. I still prefer sugar plum though!

So there you have it! Amazing texture that definetly is moisturising. Be careful to use it more before you judge the lipstick because when you first take the packaging off, it will not be as buttery. Wear it more and you will find out it is. I wish there were more wearable colors but the ones I have picked out will surely do!

Hey Everyone,

More exciting news first! I’m going to Sydney tomorrow for IMATS on Saturday after a talk with Dad. Super duper excited. Tickets are booked, and the theme this time is Alice in Wonderland, of course one of my favourite tales. Super duper excited. Breathe Roseanne. And look, I’m blogging. Finally, those 2 weeks of hell are over and now i’m able to prance around for at least a few days before I start burry-ing my head in books again.

So here’s a foundation review for you. I’ve decided I’m going to write less, and picture more. So, picture this. A foundation that makes you absolutely flawless and in my opinion blends pretty well and is probably one of the best oil controlling foundations out there. No, it’s not over sixty dollars fortunately, it’s the Revlon ColorStay Foundation.

So, I’ve heard a lot about this baby and lots of it is negative feedback. I get things like it smells bad but honestly I only noticed the smell until a few of you told me and it smells sort of like paint. Like artsy paint which really doesn’t bother me. The only reason why I would think people would dislike this product is that they aren’t used to the coverage.

Yes, yes..it really is all of the above but boy does it cover! And it covers so well that sometimes I’m scared to use it because it might have this magical chemical in it that’s actually bad for me. I don’t know if it does but it covers too well. And it controls oil too well. Just too well, I can’t really believe it sometimes. But, believe it because it’s photo time!

It’s a screw top cover which isn’t convenient. I’d rather much prefer a pump but it’s okay, it’s not like I’m wearing the pump on my face I reckon.

The consistency is slightly thicker but one of the best ones I’ve had. I don’t like a foundation that’s too runny, I don’t trust that it will give me the coverage I need.

And yea, I do need coverage but my skin has been healing up pretty well and this stuff does’t break me out!

It’s foundation time! One of my favourite times of the day!

As you can see, super high coverage. Don’t worry, it might look a little white at the beginning but it does oxidize. Negative feedback spotlight – sometimes ppl say it turns orange but it doesn’t on me. Maybe I got some really good batch or something.

Yea, flawless much?

Even my new Canon S95 can’t pick up the cakiness.

And I’m done, pretty photo worthy stuff!

It’s quite pricy in Australia, being a little less than $40 but if you are looking for high coverage and oil control, this makes a pretty good bet. Make sure you’re used to it or your first application will be quite a shock.

To all going to IMATS on Saturday, see you there!

xx Roseanne
