I have to be honest with you, my skin is pretty bad right now. Acne has always been an enemy to me and mine’s not a result of improper cleansing, it’s a matter of hormones which kind of makes things worse. I was born with PCOS which doesn’t really do much except that there’s always a little bit of hormonal imbalance. I took a huge blood test back in Australia and they found out that I had it. I could have bouts of great skin (where I take all my pictures etc) but the next day I could be blooming with acne buds. It’s something that has been bugging me my entire life and I don’t know when it’s going to stop. Products do work for a series of days and then stop working. Right now, it’s pretty bad and has been since a few months back but I guess you wouldn’t know how much pressure I feel to have good skin doing what I do so it’s not something that I want to express to the entire world online.
A few weeks ago, my GC manager took me the IDS Clinic event and to be honest I thought it was just going to be another facial place that would work to just brighten my skin but not much else after that. But I remember just sitting there and listening to Dr. SK Tan, the lead Skin Doctor there talk about what cases he’s dealt with, his awards and and that he specialised in acne and hyperpigmentation, and I actually felt that wow, maybe this is it. Dr. SK Tan actually founded Derma-RX which you have probably already heard of from other bloggers or very positive public reviews but he left and founded IDS Clinic with products that are basically miracle workers. I wanted to join Derma-RX after hearing so much about the place but then after hearing about IDS, I wanted to sign up with them as fast as possible. After all, the founder has moved so we follow right?
First of all, IDS clinic is absolutely gorgeous, professional, clean and perfect. It is at level 5 of Novena Specialist Centre #05-07 to 10. You’re first greeted with open white counters, a large seating area, gorgeous consult rooms, analysis rooms and treatment rooms. The last time I saw this kind of interior perfection was at a high class clinic in Bangkok. Coming into the space, I really knew I was in good hands in all honesty. Yina also told me how Dr. SK Tan worked magic on her skin and a lot of the people there were telling me the same thing. They were there because of Dr. SK Tan!
Dr. SK Tan is really amazing. He is one of the foremost physicians in aesthetics and cosmeseuticals in Asia and here is more about his background right here:
He is a member of numerous medical associations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, and the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr Tan was one of the first local doctors to be certified by the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine. His personal interest in pigmentary disorders and acne has also led him to become an International Member of the Pigmentary Disorders Society of India, the Asian Society of Pigment Cell Research, and the American Acne and Rosacea Society (AARS).
Dr Tan’s work has been well received worldwide, having spoken at numerous international conferences in the US, Europe and throughout the Asia Pacific region. He is a co-editor of “Handbook of Cosmetic Microbiology”, a reference book published by Marcel Dekker, and his papers have been published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, International Journal of Dermatology, Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy, and Expert Review of Dermatology, and has contributed a chapter in the reference book ‘Pigmentary Disorders: A Comprehensive Compendium’.
After a consult and analysis of my skin, he prescribed me a skincare routine. It looks like a lot of products but it’s okay. I have been trying out the products for about 2 weeks already and I have seen a massive improvement in my skin. I can’t say my skin is totally camera ready as it’s only been that long but so many people have been telling me that my skin has gotten a lot better. My friends and co-workers as well as some of you on instagram and it’s because I’ve been sticking to this routine and my thoughts about them for the moment. By the way, those pictures I took at the clinic is from my first visit. You can see how bad my skin was.
The first product I use is the IDS Cleansing Gel. It’s a clear gel formula that cleanses the skin and takes off any make-up. I was surprised that this cleansing gel actually took off my hardy lipstick, foundation and waterproof products. It’s really good at removing make-up! I was really impressed with that.
Then I spritz on the IDS Oil Control Toner. This helps to unclog and minimize pores. It’s also a spray which is really useful because I don’t really like to use cotton pads but this is really easy. Just make sure you swipe your eyes before you open them so you can avoid getting the toner in your eyes. From using this toner, I actually saw a visible difference in my oil production!
Then I use the IDS Facial Scrub three times a week. This is an amazing product. It has ultra-fine crystals that feel like it’s melting off dead skin. Your face is as smooth and soft as a baby’s bottom after using this, no joke. It is the best facial scrub I have used yet. Your skin becomes incredibly soft and smooth.
Three times a week I also follow up with a IDS Probiotic Mask. I also really love this mask and the smell of it. I put this all over my face and it does dry up – absorbing any impurities and oil. The best part is that it kills acne bacteria or micro flora and limits blemish size. My face is incredibly soft after this. I am really liking this mask so far.
Then I use IDS PORE. This product actually unclogs pores and reduces blackheads and whiteheads. It also minimizes excess oil production and his highly effective for blemished skin. You only need a little bit of this and it goes a long way.
After that, I apply IDS C-Plus. This is IDS core Vitamin C product that tackles patchy skin tone, wrinkles, dark spots and even acne. It is not a regular Vitamin C product because it boasts a new form of potent but stable Vitamin C. Dr. SK Tan has been working with top Vitamin C specialists globally to produce this product!
Then I follow up with my moisturiser – the IDS Intensive Moisturiser! This is the super rich one but I love the texture. It’s more of a gel than a cream so it doesn’t really feel heavy at all. However, it is heavy duty stuff because my skin feels really hydrated after that. I really feel a difference in these products when I use them. I know they are working.
For acne spots or existing spots, I use the IDS SPOT which is a blemish fighter. It is also tinted so you can hide your spots during the daytime. I do prefer it not to be tinted because it’s hard to blend into my make-up but it’s good if you don’t really wear make-up and want to hide your spots of course. I see an improvement in spots over 2 nights with swelling decreased.
Last but not least, I have IDS Sunscreen SPF 50! Oh my gosh, this sunscreen is also amazing. It is so thin and light and actually applies to a thin powder finish with no white overcast. It doesn’t feel heavy at all and is so easy to use under make-up!
Overall, I am currently seeing a improvement in my skin. I can’t wait to do my final review so I can reveal a great before and after picture! To be completely honest with you though, they really are amazing products. I have tried so many skincare products, so many different ones of each kind from La Mer to drugstore Vichy or Avene and these products are on par or even better than some I’ve tried. Not only are they proving effective so far, they are of a good texture and consistency that makes it easy for everyday people like you and me to wear. Whether it’s a sunscreen that is as light as a feather or a gel based non-heavy but very intense moisturiser. I just can’t wait but in the meantime if you feel like you need to see someone about your skin, you should for sure check out IDS. I can’t give you my before and after yet but I can say that it’s working.
