Hey Everyone!

1

I’m sure us ladies are always on the hunt for that perfect lip gloss. One that isn’t sticky, doesn’t clump at the end of the day one that can make our lips that much juicer. Well ladies, I have your answer – it’s the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited Lip glosses. I have been trying these out for a while and I have fallen in love with them. They aren’t sticky, are really hydrating in fact and come in so many colors, you can probably have one for every outfit! In this post, I’ll be doing a review, tutorial on trendy lip gloss looks as seen on Spring runways, showing you some of my personal favourites and ending with a giveaway of one of them!

2

Shu Uemura has always been on the top of their game. They’re probably top in innovation and technology in cosmetics and are known for their vivid colors and breaking boundaries. You’ve seen them at every department store or mall and you probably have their eye-lash curlers. I raise my hand. Even when I was in make-up school, Shu Uemura was all our teachers (who have been doing makeup for like 20 years) could talk about. They said that their amazing quality and brushes surpasses all other make-up brands.

3

So here I am introducing you the new Shu Uemura Lip Gloss – the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited! Shu Uemura has integrated four key elements in these new lip glosses – being a shape memorising technology, artist modulator colors, a skin loving formula and a new applicator!

Previously, Shu Uemura included a rod shaped applicator in its lip glosses. Now, the applicator is a circular shaped donut that can catch just the right amount of lip gloss when you apply it. I love these applicators because they spread the gloss really well and they do trap lip gloss as well. The pointed top makes going into the corners of the mouth a lot easier too.

4

Another cool thing is the shape memorizing technology  When applied, the lip gloss forms a coat following the shape of your lips and even if you touch it, it doesn’t shift or move. It’s powered by a 3D elastic gel network that evelops the lips. When you disturb the surface of the gloss, with pressure or friction, it automatically repairs the smooth surface. It can reflect light well too!

These lip glosses are also super hydrating and really, they aren’t sticky at all. The super smooth formula is caused by a moisture active complex and botanical oils that condition and soften your lips.

5

I’ve always seen Shu Uemura as a real make-up artist brand and it’s so cool to see that they’re encouraging people out there to be make-up artists on themselves with exploring new color boundaries. The lip gloss range also has 4 Artist Modulator colors that you can wear before or after your lip glosses to change the look and texture of them. It’s sort of like on-the-spot customisation! You can mix and match these modulator colors to create new colorful shades or to make it suit your skin tone better.

6

7

Now it’s tutorial time! Today I’m going to show you how to do the trendy two-toned lip that’s been making an appearance everywhere including on the runway and in magazines. It’s a really easy look to do and something that’s really in right now.

8

Simply use a pink lipstick on your upper lip. Choose a vivid color or a sheer color depending on whether you’re more of a bold lip or natural lip gal. Then apply an orange lipstick to your bottom lip. Of course you don’t need to stick to these colours! Find colors that are complimentary to each other and those work too.

9

10

Then, apply your lipgloss! I’m using Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited in AT 60C and applying it to my top lip. It really brings the lip out automatically. Then, I’m using AT 50C on my bottom lip. Make sure you’re careful and if you need to, you can always use a bit of make-up remover and a q-tip to hide any mistakes.

11

And you’re finished!

12

The next look I thought about was how to make lips really have a pout with lipgloss. As a make-up artist, you learn that you don’t always have to stick to the rules and apply lip gloss all over your lips only. You can actually add a lighter lip gloss to the middle of your lips to make them pop and have a pout!

13

I’m using a wine beige lip pencil first and applying that all over my lips. This will help form a nice layer for the lipstick to cling on to and hide any skin tone imperfections. Then, apply a raspberry red lipstick and finish off with a pale orange lipgloss like the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited in OR10C! Using the applicator, just lightly dab the middle of your lips until you get that desired pout!

14

The last look is probably what is on everyone’s mind this season, being Spring. It’s that pretty nude lip! It’s great for even a smokey eye or keeping it natural with pretty pink cheeks to match.

15

Instead of using a lipstick which can be too nude and harsh, I’m using a nude lip pencil to do the trick. I love using this pencil because I can layer it on until I get the desired nude lip. All I have to do is put streaks on my lips and use my finger to blend it out. You’ll see that you’ll have a much more natural nude lip and it helps the nude lips show up on darker skin tones too. Then, I apply Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited PK 60s which is a really pretty fairytale pink with a bit of silver shimmer and that completes your nude lip look!

16

My personal favourites that I’ve been loving lately are the CR 20S, WN 20S, PK 30S and RD 10G. The CR 20S is a beautiful coral and pink shade with a subtle silver reflex. It’s an amazing everyday color that goes well with all make-up looks!

17

I love the WN 20S because it’s such a unique color for a lip gloss – that dark burgundy that’s really in right now as a color. You can go lighter or go all out and use this even without a lipstick and the pigmentation is totally Shu Uemura!

18

The PK 30S is a creamy pink that reminds me of barbie. It’s really pretty and has a multi tone reflex that really makes your lips shine. I feel like it does a really good job plumping the lips too! RD  10G may look really vibrant and bold in the tube but straight on the lips (like these swatches with JUST glosses on and no lipstick ) you can see it really enhances the lips and is quite wearable. It’s a gold and red orange combination that’s super pretty.

19

Hey Everyone!

Laura Mercier’s Spring Collection is inspired interestingly enough not by candy in a jar or flowers, but by ballet and yoga. In fact, the Spring 2013 collection is called Arabesque and only a few strokes can create a gentle spring look. Laura Mercier invited me down to their counter at TANGS Orchard to preview their collection and get a make-over with Global Make-Up Artist, Benjamin Ruiz. I couldn’t resist.

LM

Laura Mercier is a somewhat new addition to Singapore. Previously, they were only available at a shop called True Colors in Takashimaya although I’ve long since heard of the brand when beauty gurus raved about it their oil free tinted moisturiser and primer online. It was also available in Melbourne at Myer. It was a pleasure having Benjamin Ruiz do my make-up and give me a few tips here and there. He’s been in the make-up industry for 17 years and worked with Laura herself to create Laura Mercier.

lk

First let’s get that base. Benjamin insisted that I get used to using a primer and Laura Mercier was the first brand to introduce face primers. He recommended that I use the oil free as I have combination skin and then he applied the LM Silk Creme Foundation. In fact, the difference between LM foundations and others is that LM is full of pigment, not of texture so that it feels like nothing on the skin but is able to get that desired coverage everyone wants. He then used the famous LM secret camouflage and secret concealer to hide my blemishes. A great tip is that if you’re trying to cover up a zit and the concealer seems to always slick off, just apply some onto it, do the rest of your face and then come back and cover it again. That way, it has something to hold on to!

conceal

Next up is the cheeks. He used a creme blush with a paddle brush to add color to my cheeks. Rose bud is like a pink peach color that’s really pretty.

rosebud

On the eyes, he started first with a primer which is the LM eye basics in wheat. The caviar sticks are one of the stars of the show for Arabesque collection in the following colors. They are like glide on shadows and once set, they do not budge. It has great pigmentation and looks beautiful on the lids. I can’t wait to use it for a shoot! Anyway, I picked Sandglow which was more of a neutral tan. He then used the Arabesque palette to create a soft tan eye and used a blue shadow coming up from the lid line to give it a bit of color. He finished off with something I’ve never tried which is a cobalt blue eyeliner!

The Arabesque palette featured below is a really nice shimmery palette of neutral pastel/brown shades. You can certainly use Pink Mosiac to highlight on certain areas which Benjamin did on my cupids bow and cheek bones too.

Eyes

For the lips, he used Creme Smooth Lip in Mango which is like a pink orange color and a lip gloss in bare pink. Really quite outstanding.

2sdfsdf

Overall I liked the look he created for me and really grateful for the introduction to a brand I’ve always heard of but never got to try! Hope you got some tips out of it too!

Hey Everyone!

paperself1

The world of creative falsies has always been foreign to me. I mean, when would I find the occasion to wear lashes with red and green feathers or even to the more simple diamonte ones? Probably never. But, going to make-up school helped bring out the crazier side of me and that’s when I learned of Paperself lashes. If you think feathers is a bit too cray cray for you, then how about paper cut out eyelashes? That’s right.

So when eyesbright.com contacted me to see if I’d like to review one of these, I was more than excited. For all of you who are unfamiliar with eyesbright.com, it is one of UK’s leading eye accessories retailers and they provide us not only with cool falsies like Paperself, but also a myriad of different contact lenses – from cat eyes and panther eyes to halloween contact lenses to UV electric blue lenses. They also do face and nail and lip tattoos! SO, if you’re looking to make your next costume better than anyone else’s, you can make it complete by checking out what Eyesbright has to offer. I mean, seriously, what they offer is so quirky and cool, I would hop onto their site just for pure entertainment.

paperself2

Anyways, back to the review. The ones that I chose were the Paperself Deer & Butterfly. These were designed by Ting Yu Wang and feature stunning paper cut outs of deer..and well butterfly and of course some grass. It’s nonethless pretty and an amazing feat by itself.

paperself5

To apply the lashes, you would apply them like any other false lash. I was to be honest a bit concerned with how my DUO eyelash glue would soften the paper but it was fine. There is no band that most lashes seem to have, it’s just totally paper. That being said, be absolutely careful because you could end up ripping something. I used a pair of tweezers to pick them up but to be honest because of the shape, the easiest way to put these on would probably be to use your own fingers.

paperself3

And on myself, I look like I’m ready for a forest photoshoot. These look beautiful on the lashes but to be honest, I don’t think I can find an occasion. I will enjoy using it the next time I have a beauty shoot though. Overall, it was easier to apply and take off than I expected and although delicate, withstood the glue. You do have to be careful though!

paperself4

I don’t know if you noticed, but I didn’t trim the lashes at the end. This is because personally I think these lashes would look better on my eye elongated as I have pretty small eyes and the band is a good width for eyeliner!

I hope you liked this post and do give eyesbright.com a visit!

Hey Everyone,

How To

Applying perfect eyeliner can be a difficult task for the newbie in make-up to some of the experts. It’s something that requires practice and patience. But if you’re out of both, here is a really easy way to put training wheels on your eyeliner. All you need is a dark eye-shadow like a matte black or brown that will be your eye definer and a sharp synthetic angled eyeliner brush. Use these two tools as your training wheels. Simply draw on the eye shadow where you would put your eyeliner. The synthetic angled eyeliner brush (I recommend the Ecotools one) will help you draw precise lines with the shadow.

HT6 HT5

The beauty of this is that if you make a mistake, you can simply rub or gently brush off the shadow. Good thing I’m wearing a smokey eye here! If not, use a dry q tip and in quick strokes, brush the powder away.

HT4

Once you’ve got your training wheels perfect, you can then go over the whole thing with your favourite eye liner.     HT3

So that’s about it! I think the best liner to use right now is a liquid liner. I’m using the Make-Up Forever Aqua Eyes precision liner but really like the Maybelline Impact Express pen looking one as well as the Revlon Colorstay! Hope you liked this post! I’m launching my online store soon! Do stay tuned on my Facebook Page to keep updated!

Hey Everyone!

p1

I know, I can’t believe it too, Christmas is just around the corner.  So to celebrate, here’s a make-up look which is a fresh take on the classic gold eyes and red lips everyone seems to wear during Christmas. Instead, I’ve switched it up a bit, skipped the liner and added a bold and magazine glossy pink lip. In fact, if you have black hair, hot pink lips are one of the most flattering lip colors you can wear! Better yet, it’s a collaboration with the lovely Sunnydahye!

p2

This look is also inspired by  the Chanel Noel 2010 collection. I’m always obsessed with Chanel make-up looks on their advertisements and you’ve probably figured that out about me since I do so many tutorials on them.

p3

Achieving this look is super simple. Apply a gold eye-shadow like Urban Decay’s Half Baked the eyes, and then apply a medium shimmery brown in the outer corner shading into the crease from the NARS Cordura Duo. With the darker brown from the Cordura duo, apply a crease but remember to blend it out and then with Barry M Dazzle Dust in copper, apply that to the middle of the eye to give dimension. Skip the liner and go with mascara and false lashes and then line your waterline and a bit more with the gold eye-shadow.

p4

For the lips, start with a hot pink lip pencil like the BarryM Lip pencils in Dark Pink by first outlining the lips with the pencil and then filling in your lips with the lip pencil. Then, apply a hot pink lipstick in the same shade. I applied my trusty Chanel Rogue Allure in Super. This lip pencil and lipstick combo will help your lipstick to stay on longer. With clear gloss and a lip brush, apply a clear lip gloss over your lips for that magazine glossy finish you see in advertisements. For blush, use a dusty rose and remember to contour well with your bronzer. Apply highlight to your nose bridge and cheek bones for a bit of dazzle.

If you’re still confused, watch the video tutorial right here:

And…

p6

I  hope you have a great Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you! I’ll be on a plane on Christmas eve and will be in Singapore on the 24th! I’m so excited to see my boyfriend and family. I haven’t seen my boyfriend for a good five months but I’m still going to be quite sad leaving this beautiful place. I’ll miss the mince pies (I’ve eaten my fill actually), amazing buildings and traditions, weather (I love cold weather) and of course my sister and learning make-up. It’s so scary going into the real world now. I’ll need to start from scratch in building my name as a trained and professional make-up artist and I’m launching the store, roseanne.sg, very soon! Lots to do when I arrive, but looking forward to it. Sometimes I think I’m crazy doing all this stuff but I often just ignore that feeling and go on with what I have to do, hehe. I think as Richard Branson put it, “screw it, let’s do it”. Have a great holiday!!

Hey Everyone!

Probably every single make-up artist that has taught us at school has told us that it is so important to know our decades and periods. That means when the designer asks you to slap on a 40s look, you’ll know what he’s talking about. Good thing the school is teaching us what some of the periods are famous for so I thought I would pay it forward. Here’s my take on the classic 60′s look. The 60′s were famous for essentially the Twiggy Look – the liner in the crease and the classic small hairs drawn by liner underneath the eye. It’s not as easy as it looks though and requires a bit of technique. Watch the video tutorial at the end of the post or read about the major elements of this look below!

1. Smudge that Kohl Pencil + Line your Twiggies

Probably “toughest’ part of this look is doing an even line with a kohl pencil and smudging it out to create your artificial crease. Simply make sure that you start bare on the eye-lid and draw a line following the contour of your eye a few centimeters above your crease. Then, take a mini smudger brush and smudge the line out until it becomes a shadow more than a line. Then, apply a white eye-shadow (in this case, I didn’t have any – most of my makeup is in Singapore) to set the kohl and create a base over your eye. You can also use transparent powder to set the kohl once you know it’s finished. Then, go over the kohl with a black eye-shadow, tracing over it.

To line your eyes, line them normally but be careful not to touch your wing with the kohl shadow. It should not connect. Then, to do the little twiggies, line underneath your eye with the ends of the line dipping up and then slightly downwards. Draw in the small little lashes with liquid liner.

2. Nude Lips and a Pale Pink Blush

This look is also inspired by the M.A.C Glamour Daze collection that’s out right now in the UK. My sister and I were at Covent Garden and she said she wanted to look like that all the time. I quickly advised her and now you that this isn’t probably the everyday look but maybe it is for the adventurous at heart. It’s a totally lady like look so you need to go with nude lips and a pale pink blush. I didn’t have any nude lipstick on me (not a big fan for daily wear to be honest) so I just used a bit of the foundation over my lips and it looks just like nude lips. And as for the blush, I had to use the Benefit Dandelion boxed blush. I really like this blush – beautiful pale flush of color. I always find it handy to use a fluffy white brush like the MAC 168 with benefit blushes, they work the best.

3. Gyaru Looking Lashes

Then of course a very important part of the makeup is the Gyaru lashes! Gyaru inspired that is. These are from Dollywink which you can get at Watsons Singapore but I’m not sure if they are available in the UK, US or Australia. The reason why I used these is because as you can see the lashes are a lot more spaced out which means they sort of give a cartoon like look to they eye. It nicely reflects the twiggies you’ve drawn in.

So there we have it your How To Sixties Look inspired by the MAC Glamour Daze Collection :) Hope you liked it. If you have any tutorial requests, feel free to let me know in the comments section below :)

Hey Everyone!

We’ve all been there. Your Mom or significant other is yelling at the door, “Come down now, we’re going to be late!” and you’ve just woken up wondering why your alarm clock refused to go off this morning. That, or you’re just plain lazy and want to just slap on something quick before you head out. Whatever the reason, when we don’t have the time to look like a celebrity, here’s a simple make-up look you can do before heading out.

All you need is..well not much. I decided to skip the eye-shadows, contouring and powder saving me lots of time. But enough talk, let’s go. The first step is to use a decent BB cream, not foundation since BB creams in my opinion look more natural and like your skin and with this amount of time, you don’t want to worry about color matching and a thick mask. I’ve been using the Bobbi Brown BB cream quite frequently because I don’t have to worry about the color either. If you live in a humid country, you might want to take two seconds to put on some powder especially if you’re out for a while!

Skip your eye-shadow and grab a pencil liner. Simply first line your tight line and waterline. If you want a bit more drama, I go ahead and line minimally my lid line as well with a tiny wing. If what you’re using is water proof and there are some boys you want to impress at the gym, then you can do this liner for a gym workout too.

Probably what makes a look fresh is the color on your lips and cheeks. I’ve been loving the Clinique Chubby Stick lately for it’s color and also how smooth and slick it is. I can’t wait to do a review soon! I’m wearing “mega melon” and I feel that peach is such a no-brainer, just grab-and-go color because it will always match whereas there are so many undertones of pink! Go for a natural dusty pink blush and you’re set!

I decided to do my blush last so that my foundation/bb cream can set first since I decided to skip the powder. Now go downstairs and I hope you’re not late! This is also a great makeup look for the office, school, uni or a simple lunch out without the fuss.

Hey Everyone!

The first time I spotted Caviar nails, it instantly reminded me of yummy vanilla cupcakes and sprinkles. Of course, I thought it was a bit odd and then it grew on me. It’s an adorable nail trend and after seeing Fleur De Force’s blog post on the MUA (Make Up Academy) Nail Constellations, I had to go out and get myself some from Superdrug, the local health/beauty pharmacy in London. It’s much like Watsons in Singapore or Priceline in Australia. I obviously couldn’t wait to sprinkle magic on my fingernails so here’s my first try at it! I think the MUA Nail Constellations are great, they’re the cheaper version of the known Ciate nails and only cost me about £3!

What You’ll Need for Caviar Nails:

The caviar nail trend is super easy. All you’ll need are the caviar nail pearls, a complementary nail colour and a tray to collect the beads when you sprinkle them on your fingernail.

The MUA Nail Constellation are the drugstore (or “high street” in the UK) version of the Ciate nails which are more expensive and they work great. I picked the one in Libra which is the black with blue and silver sparkles inspired by the completely black caviar nails which are so classic! I actually wanted to take out the blue and silver sparkles separately but realised that it actually looks better with them!

I also picked up the BarryM nail paint in black to match. I thought that the black background would go seamlessly with the caviar beads and of course seeing a BarryM display made me excited. I had to pick something. I was also looking at the BarryM Magnetic Nail polish which I want to also get and review too!

You’ll also need a tray to pick up all the beads when you sprinkle them for easy keeping afterwards. I would suggest something with high walls because they are just a little bit bigger than pieces of sand and they really fly and scatter everywhere. I just used a name-card box.

How to Do Caviar Nails:

Caviar nails is actually a really simple nail trend. As the directions say. Paint your nails, sprinkle the caviar pearls onto the wet nail polish on the tray, press lightly down and wait to dry for 15-20 minutes. Then, pour the beads back by inverting the funnel back into the bottle.

As you can see, you have to do it over the tray so that it collects the caviar pearls. I decided to do an accent nail since I think it would be too much if I did the whole two hands. It’s my first time doing an accent nail and I like it!

Here’s the finished product. I think it’s super cute and I should have gotten more of the MUA Constellations. I’m looking to get the cream and blue and pink for a cute day look!

Overall, I’m very pleased with the MUA Constellations! They are so easy to use and I’m looking to get different colours as well :)

Hope you liked this post!

Hey Everyone,

It’s that time of year again. It’s that time to whip out the folders, pens and put our thinking caps on for back to school. Although the morning bus won’t be driving by my house anytime soon (or ever), I thought I might do a great make-up look you can do for back to school! I asked you all on my facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/roseannetangrs) what make-up look you wanted me to do next and most of you raised your hands to a picture day and school look. I also have FOUR Maybelline Back To School Goodie Bags full of great make-up products (shown above) so at the end of this post, find out how you can win your very own!

When I was in school, I barely wore make-up until high school. Maybe just a bit of lip gloss and eye-liner and a dusting of powder. Nothing too theatrical, or made-up. And I think that’s what we want when it comes to an everyday look for school. Natural, but still able to enhance our features. That’s why I’m using the Maybelline BB Instant Skin Smoother Foaming BB Cream for my face. I find that these new foaming foundations are actually rockin’ when it comes to that natural skin look above all other things I’ve tried. Then, I applied a powder (the Rachel K CC Mineral Pressed Powder) on my oily spots, contoured with the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny and applied a bright matte blush like the M.A.C Pink Swoon!

For eyes, I made it even more idiot-proof. All you really need for eye-shadow (especially if you’re starting out) is two eyeshadows. One lighter as your base shade and one darker. I used the Maybelline Hyper Diamonds Quad to do this and applied a shimmery peach as my base and a sandy shimmery brown to my outer corners. I then finished off with my all time favourite liner – the Covergirl Liquid Line Blast and mascara – the Maybelline Magnum Volum Express! At school, I’m not a fan of lip glosses and lipsticks for this tutorial, go natural with a lip balm. I love the Maybelline Baby Lips, it is awesome!

Giveaway Directions —>

Now you’re probably wondering, ok now how do I win all this stuff? Maybelline was kind enough to hand over these goodie bags to me and now I’m handing it over to you!

1. Go to my facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/roseannetangrs

2. Find this picture on my facebook page:

3. Share the picture and tell me what your school goals are for this year and your email address so that I can contact you! Is it to get good grades? Be more confident? I want to know! Get your entry in by September 15, 2012!

4. The winner will be picked when the giveaway ends and will be based on your effort that you put in the entry. I think it’s only fair!

If you don’t have facebook or don’t want to use it, just simply comment in the comment section below of this blog post! I’ll add it in when it comes time to pick a winner! There are four goodie bags to give away so I’m picking four winners. I wish you the best of luck this coming school year. You can do it if you work hard at it, always. That’s one of the lessons I learnt at school.

Good Luck!

Roseanne

Hey Everyone!

There’s nothing like hot pink lips. Or, any kind of pink lips for that matter. It’s not as bold as a sexy, classic red and neither quiet as a flowery nude. It’s probably one of my favorite fun lip colors to wear. I thought it would be cool to show you how I get my variations of pink lips – from a subtle hot pink gloss to a bold OCC lip tar. Let’s get started!

These happen to be my favorite hot pink lip products! I’ll show you what they look like on my lips and give a little review!

The first one is the Sportsgirl Liquid Lip Color in Forever Young. Sportsgirl make-up is a little underrated. I just love their lip products especially their lipglosses. They are smooth and they have great colors. Forever Young is a standard hot and wild pink. When I saw it at the store, I immediately grabbed it. It’s beautiful.

Here’s what Forever Young looks like on the lips. I love how it’s pigmented enough to bring life to any classic look without being too overwhelming. It’s a beautiful gloss and “liquid lip color” that’s not sticky, but rather smooth. You can also layer this gloss if you want a bolder look, or ontop of your lipstick.  Stay tuned to the end of this post because I’m giving a Sportsgirl Forever Young Liquid Lip color away!

The Chanel Rouge Allure in Super is one of my all time favourites. It was a limited edition color for a collection a while ago so I’m not sure if they have another color quite like it. Again, it’s a crazy hot pink. I love the formula of the Chanel Rouge Allure lipsticks. Check out my review of them right here-  Review: Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick

There’s two ways that I use this. The first is to lightly pat the lipstick on my lips. This is what I do if I want to add a little life to my look but I’m still going to somewhere relatively quiet like Uni or lunch with a friend. Patting on the lips creates almost a tinted lip effect that’s super pretty and natural.

Or instead you could go all out! Simply use the lipstick as you normally would and the color transfers beautifully onto your lips. I know Chanel can be a bit pricey, but if you are ever at the Duty Free Store, you can get them for around thirty dollars each which is quite a steal considering it’s Chanel. I highly recommend their Rouge Allure lipsticks!

And then last but not least, and for sure the boldest hot pink I’ve ever worn is the OCC Lip Tar in Pageant. I got this baby at IMATS a while back and I haven’t been a total fan of wearing it outside the house. It’s like theater make-up and you know me, I’m like all about looking just a tad bit more than natural. Nonetheless, it’s a fantastic color. OCC lip tars aren’t sticky. They smell like peppermint but you can feel them and they do stain so be careful if you’re wearing your favorite outfit!

Don’t use the lip tar straight off. You should always use a lip brush with it. Simply get a bit of the color…

and get painting. Lip tars are fun because they’re basically lip paints. That means, they’re great for costume make-up. You could paint yourself all white like a Geisha and draw in your lips with lip tars, something you can’t really do with normal lipsticks.

The effect? Brilliantly, awesome hot pink lips. I think if you have dark to black hair, hot pink lips are super hot. I think I saw a picture of Katy Perry with them and fell in love with the whole look. I’ve been sporting it now and then since! Here’s a review I did earlier on OCC lip tars: roseannetangrs Review: OCC Lip Tars

So there you have it – whether it’s just a sheer hot pink lip gloss or a heavy OCC lip tar, pink lips are so versatile and trendy. Remember that you can always layer lip colors, especially lipsticks. Pat the color in and build it to the shade you want. Or, mix and match and see what you get!

Hey Everyone!

I know that in other parts of the world, you’re taking out your floaties and your ripped jean shorts but here in Australia, any safe cove with warm air has become my best friend. It’s winter in Australia, so I thought I might do a pretty look for fall/winter that is natural enough to wear for any occasion! To create the look, all you need is a set of neutral eye colors, a glowy peach blush and sandwash pink lips. The combination gives you a bit of color that’s not too overwhelming, but it’s best shown than explained so view the video tutorial right here:

Here are the key elements of the look!

1. Use a Peachy Glowy Blush!

Just like the autumn leaves, you want to match the auburn and the orange and reds with a pretty peach blush. I’m using the Sleek Rose Gold which I originally bought because I thought it was a dupe for the NARS orgasm but it’s actually much peachier than that. You want to avoid the dullness of winter by having a slightly shimmery blush to put the glow back. This is great to complement the brown eyeshadows on your eyes.

 2. Time for Neutral Colors for Fall!

I think the most natural color to wear is obviously browns, creams and tans. But, to pair up with the blush, I used orange and gold from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette (any brand of eyeshadow you like is fine) to create the base so that there is a tiny tinge that matches the blush. Don’t make it overwhelming though as this is a natural look. I also did a bit of smokey smokey with a dark plum on my outer corner and touched up with a matte black.

 3. Matte Pink Lips to Top the Look!

If you’re going to have glowing cheeks, try to change things up by having a matte pink lip. I’m using the Bobbi Brown Sandwash Pink lipstick that complements the look nicely. You can opt for a peachier lipstick but this one is more natural I feel and more “daily” as they say. It kind of reminds me of Barbie’s lip color, just a little more subtle!

And then you are finished!  Just remember to stay warm!

It was chilly filming this tutorial in the cold! I look forward to meeting you all this Saturday during the meet-up! Hey Everyone!

It’s no surprise how much I am in love with the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette – not because everyone else loves it or the fact that there are probable queues outside Sephora right now begging for it – but because genuinely, it’s pure awesome. To me, getting a single shadow from a store is a waste of money. I’ll probably never finish just one color and getting a palette for me is tons more worth the price. I know how ridiculously long over-due this review is, but if you’re thinking of getting the Naked 2 Palette – Girl, you gotta stop thinking, and start saving because I’m going to tell you straight off – it’s worth it.  Here’s my take on this daily baby and my everyday eye tutorial to boot. At the end, I’ll tell you whether you should be getting the Naked or Naked 2. Get the Naked 2.

What’s the package like?

The Naked 2 Palette comes with 12 shades, a double sided brush and a lip gloss which aren’t pictured because I don’t really use either. The main star of the show of course are the shadows. I’ve never really been disappointed with Urban Decay eye-shadows. The color payoff is amazing, the texture is great and I don’t have trouble with creasing. That’s probably why they’re the only shadows I use in tutorials. The only thing I would watch out for is really chunky eye-shadows like Midnight Cowboy which tend to cause a lot of fall-out. Thankfully, the palette doesn’t include much of those ones. It does have a majority of shimmery shades than matte but includes a good matte black. At first glance, it seems that Urban Decay has provided a lighter overall palette that might be unsuitable for dark smokey eye lovers like yours truly but upon using it, it’s much more versatile than the first Naked palette because the colors are build-able. You can make more looks with the palette in other words. It also comes in much sturdier packaging, similar to the tin case you brought to school with your pens and pencils. It’s shall I say more heavy duty. As you can see, I already hit pan on “suspect”. Whoops.

But seriously, how can I prove a point if I don’t show you how to use the eye-shadows. So here’s a tutorial of my eye-look that I do daily, plus or minus the false lashes. It’s a look that’s versatile and a neutral smokey eye everyone should learn to do if they choose to get this palette. I’m also using my three favorite eye-shadow brushes – the M.A.C 217, 224 and a sigma pencil brush. You can easily learn the basics of how to create any smokey eye with this tutorial.

Step 1: Start with a neutral shimmery base shade. Not too shimmery though. Suspect is perfect for this to add a little glisten to your lids. Don’t forget to apply a primer beforehand. You know my favorite is the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Using the flat side of the M.A.C 217, apply the shadow all over the lid. As you can see, minimal difference but a slight enhancement that is more than needed.

Step 2: Here’s a trick with matte shadows. Once you apply a shimmery shadow on your lid, apply a matte darker color to your crease. This really makes the crease stand out because of the difference in finishes to your eye. It’s great to use the M.A.C 217 by just flipping it to it’s front. I love how versatile this brush is. It’s great to pack on color and blend at the same time for a flawless look. I’m using tease which is a plum brown in my crease.

Step 3: Use a pencil brush to apply a dark smokey plum like Busted into your outer V and tracing along your lid line as well. You basically want to cover your outer corner of your eye to add dimension. Using a pencil brush is great for this because it allows you to add color specifically where you want it – which is great for eye-definers like busted.

Step 4: Use the M.A.C 224 or any blending brush. I know the HDB stores in Singapore near Ang Mo Kio even sell blending brushes for a dollar. Those do just fine as well. Blend away the harsh lines and then it’s time for your liner. I’m using the Revlon Color-Stay on my lid line and my favorite pencil liner the Covergirl Liquid Line Blast for my waterline.

Step 5: Time for your lashes! This step in putting on your falsies is totally optional. To be honest, when I’m lazy, I don’t even bother putting false lashes on. But for the purpose of this tutorial and on days when I want to impress, I do. I love my Ardell 110 Natural lashes, I have not found any similar comparison. A trick to using false lashes is to get a tilty mirror and use tweezers to apply your lashes. Press in in the corners so you don’t get any loose ends and you’re done. Remember to apply your mascara like normal before you put on your lashes. Do your brows and viola, you are done with your eye-makeup.

Step 6: The last thing I do is touch-ups. I love using a good matte black for this job and blackout is amazing. I just use a little with my pencil brush and then apply it to my outer corner and outer v just to complete the look. It works like a charm.

To top it off, I’m using the new Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum, my new favorite that pairs well with a neutral eye. It’s kind of a very similar color to the Chanel Rouge Allure in Darling that I usually wear but this is tons cheaper.

and you are finished! As you can see, the shadows go on great and look great! I can’t express enough how much I love this palette.

Should I get the Naked 1 or Naked 2 Palette?

But seriously, the question of the day is probably – which palette should I get? Because honestly, not all of us have the moo-lah to get both. I would say skip the first palette and go for the second. I find that the first palette has shades that are too dark and the base shades are too light.

The only thing I really like about the Naked 1 palette is the two matte shades in Buck and Naked because together, they make the most perfect combination for any bold lip color. The Naked 2 palette is buildable in color and you can do so much more with it. The Naked 1 palette is too dark in my opinion to create many looks at all. I always find myself using an additional base shade from somewhere else because there are too many “definer” shades to choose from in the first one. Thus, get the Naked 2, it’s better, trust me! Maybe it’s also because half-baked and smog are really gold shades that I’m not used to using either. I just like the Naked 2 a lot better.

 So there you have it!

What do you think of the Naked Palettes? Which one are your favourites?

Hey Everyone!

They say that a girl spends their first ten years of their lives playing with barbies and the next 10 years are spent trying to look like one. I can’t disagree. Nonetheless, barbie is such a fun look. You’re talking pink, semi plastic and super girly which is always fun when it comes to playing with make-up. I don’t have a blonde wig but here’s my (Asian) Barbie inspired make-up tutorial! Hope you enjoy! It’s been a while since I did a step by step.

Step 1: Apply your Foundation

I’m using the Bourjouis Healthy Serum foundation that I just bought recently. It smells like berries and first comes off a little white as you can see. But it oxidizes fast and turns into your natural skin color after perhaps about 15 -30 mins. I like it because it feels very light and cooling while providing decent coverage. Make sure you’re flawless. I don’t think barbie was ever designed to have acne scars, if you know what I mean.

Step 2: Make sure you set!

A common step a lot of my friends at least miss is that foundation alone is enough to walk out the door. Make sure you set your foundation with a loose powder or a powder of choice to make your foundation last much longer, hide pores and even control oil (for a while). I’m using the Make-up Forever HD powder because it really works to hide pores.

Step 3: Add a White Base

Start with your primer – I’m using the Urban Decay Primer Potion – which is a step that is important in all make-up looks so really invest in a good primer. The Urban Decay one is great. Then, I use the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk to create a white base. Simply apply some onto your eye-lid and smudge it out. Set with a white eye-shadow if you can.

 Step 4: Add some Pink!

Take a bright neon pink eyeshadow and apply that in your outer corner and into your crease approaching your eye-brow. This shadow in particular is from the Sleek Make-Up i-Divine Palette in Acid. This brings out the girly-ness in your eyes.

Step 5: Purple Crease, Please & Winged Liner

Take  pencil brush so you can do a bit of detailed work and take a neon purple (the same purple from the Sleek palette) and apply that into your crease. You want to make it pretty defined because if you look at Barbie, she has a pretty defined crease. Although I don’t have eyes like barbie, at all, I can still sort of make a crease to make my eyes more defined. Finish off with a winged liquid liner on your lid line. I’m using the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner.

Step 6: Purple on Your Waterline

To further enhance your purple crease, although barbie has this originally as a brown water line, I’m using purple to add a bit more fun. This is the Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Ransom.

Step 7: Fake Lashes, Brows and Highlight

To complete your eye-look, it’s time to put on some false lashes. I would use much more dramatic ones than these to be honest because you are talking about Barbie. However, I didn’t have any extra ones on hand so I just used my normal daily false lashes. Take a frosty cream and apply that on your brow bone to enhance your brows. Remember to fill them in as well!

Step 8: Contour & Blush

Time to contour and angle your face. It’s best to use a matte bronzer that doesn’t have orange tones and the Hoola by Benefit is perfect for this. To contour your nose (because Barbie has a tiny nose), take an eye-shadow brush and apply the bronzer along the contours of your nose to make it even slimmer. Use a blending brush to buff out any harsh lines. I’m also contouring my cheek bones and jaw line before adding a bright pink blush like M.A.C Pink Swoon to my cheeks.

Step 9: Pink Lips are more fun!

Apply a matte pink lip first. A bubblegum pink is great for this. I’m using a M.A.C lipstick in Please Me. To further brighten the overall look, I applied a hot pink lipgloss overtop – the Sportsgirl Forever Young lipgloss which was featured in my Hot Pink Lips blog post. I then proceeded to highlight and add glow to my face to enhance and sharpen my facial features. I did this by taking a highlight (Benefit Miss Popularity Highlighter) along my nose bridge, top of my cheek bones and my chin. Remember to blend accordingly!

And you are basically finished. You have Barbie eyes, barbie face, barbie lips. just don’t turn into plastic on me, alright? I’m also using the Freshkon lenses in Sparkling Gray although Barbie’s eyes are blue. Blue doesn’t show up on me very well and I’d have to go buy them which I didn’t want to do!

I’m a barbie girl, in a barbie world – you have no idea how long that song was stuck in my head when I was making this.

To accessorize, get all the pink in your wardrobe and wear it. No seriously, that’s what I did.

And I even tried to tie a bow in my hair. But I guess that’s a minnie mouse look for a later day.

Hope you enjoyed this Barbie look!

As you can see the foundation matches me perfectly now!

Roseanne

Hey Everyone!

I know, you’re probably thinking, say what, another tutorial Roseanne? But yes, it is. Too bad. My friend brought me along to watch the Hunger Games about a week ago and back then, naive me, I had no idea what the movie was about nor had I had any inkling about how good it was. I absolutely loved it. In fact, knowing I probably have the attention span of a goldfish, I might even want to read the books. I even bought a few nail polishes from the Hunger Games China Glaze collection. You could call it a mini obsession.

You’re also probably thinking that the make-up that Katniss wears while she’s in the Arena can hardly be called a make-up look. That’s exactly why I thought it would be pretty cool to do it since it’s wearing make-up to look like you’re not wearing much at all. Plus, it’s a nude eye-look with more focus on bronzer and blush than anything.

You can view the YouTube tutorial right here:

Acheiving this look is really simple – here’s the low down:

1. Nude Eyes:

If you look at Katniss in the movie, she doesn’t look like she has any eye-shadow on whatsoever. But you can still see that she’s wearing a bit of eye-liner.  Grab a nude or beige eye-shadow – I used foxy from the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette and applied the shade all over the lid. Then to create  a bit of dimension, I took a shimmery shade of the version and applied it onto the middle of my lid. Using a pencil liner, I lined my waterline and tightline and just only a bit of my lid line. I finished the look with false lashes.

2. Bronze it up, baby!

Katniss looks pretty tanned in the movie. It’s a natural tan so stick to bronzers that are matte and don’t have any orange whatsoever. In this tutorial, I used a stippling brush to first apply or shade in the parts of my face to give that overall tanned look. I used NARS in Zen for this because it is a matte brown with a slightly pink undertone and then with a more round and specific brush, I contoured with Hoola by Benefit. To top it off, I applied a natural dusty rose blush on my cheeks – M.A.C Blushbaby, one of my all time favorites.

 3. Neutral Lips

The last element is just using a rose neutral lip. I’m using the YSL Rouge Volupte in Beige Ultime. This is a beautiful cream shade that compliments the whole look!

So there you have it! The me I guess in Katniss Everdeen form to the best of my capabilities.

Hope you liked the tutorial! Can’t wait till those hunger game polishes come in the mail!

Hey Everyone!

I received a bunch of requests to do a Katy Perry Inspired Make-Up Look so here it is! Last Friday night is one of my favorite songs to go out with. It’s fun, care-free and pretty much sums up a good night out. In the music video, Katy Perry sports a green and purple eye-shadow look along with bubblegum pink lips.

It’s a super fun look!

I’m not of much of a hair person, but hopefully I got the make-up right!

For clothes, I didn’t have anything neon and 80′s inspired (I’m not very experimental in the wardrobe) so I took whatever bright clothes I could find and mashed something together. I’m actually wearing pajama pants in this tutorial but since no one can see, don’t tell anyone. Haha. This look was actually a little out of my comfort zone. You know how used to neutral colors I am.

You can watch the whole tutorial right here:

To achieve this look, there were four main elements that you need:

1. Sparkly Green Base & Blue, Purple and Pink Crease

For the eye-shadow, start with your primer. I used the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Then, layer on with your finger, a sparkly white eye-shadow. The one I used was Uzi from the Urban Decay NYC Book of Shadows. This is not only going to add a little fun sparkle, but also a good base for the shadows to appear brighter than they actually are. Add Kush next, which is a metallic green all over the lid and then pat a deep blue into your outer crease. Then, with a blending brush, add a purple (like Psychedelic Sister) into your crease, shading a little upwards.

2. Layer neon shades to brighten your look

Don’t be afraid to layer colors onto your eye-shadow. I used the Sleek Divine Palette in Acid to add a neon green to the middle of my eye and a neon pink to my purple crease. This adds just a little more fun for a better and brighter look.

3. Bubblegum Pink Lips, please!

In the video, Katy Perry has a pearly bubblegum pink lip. To achieve this, I first started with a very pigmented matte pink lipstick. I used the M.A.C matte finish lipstick in Please Me. To get that pearly finish and to give the lips a bright oomph, I used the Sportsgirl Forever Young lipgloss which is a hot pink to go over top!

4. Bright Pink Cheeks <3

To add the cherry to the sundae, match your lip colors with your blush colors. If you’re using a peach blush, go for a peach lip stick. If you’re wearing in this case pink lips, I decided to go for a bright pink blush. I’m using the M.A.C blush in Pink Swoon. I love this color because it really brightens everything up!

And there you have it, a fun bright Katy Perry Last Friday Night Inspired Make-Up Look! Hope you enjoyed and I hope I didn’t get the song stuck in your head! :p

Hey Everyone!

I know that it’s nearing the cold months in Australia but everywhere else in the world, say hello to pretty flowers, butterflies and Easter bunnies. Maybe not the latter. I thought to celebrate I’d do a Spring make-up tutorial that sort of encapsulates Spring for me. The green on my eyes symbolizes new foliage and the peachy cheeks for the sun and flowers. Don’t worry, I’ll do an Autumn look perhaps in my next tutorial for the rest of us in Australia! Here we go!

For the eye-shadow, I patted on a sparkly white. I’m using the Urban Decay NYC book of shadows (remember that one?) and the color I used was Uzi. Then, in my outer corner, I added a shimmery pastel green (money), went over it and into the crease with a dark Forrest green and then defined the outer v with a matte black!

You can watch the video tutorial right here!

To top it all off, I decided to add a peachy lip – this one is the M.A.C lipstick in Shy Girl. I haven’t used M.A.C lipsticks in ages.

and my current go-to peach blush is the Chanel blush in Reflex which I used to pat on my cheeks!

and there we have it! A beautiful spring look that is perfect for a picnic in the park (because you can now)

Hope you liked it!

Hey Everyone!

Dita Von Teese is no doubt a style icon. She’s a stunning beauty so I decided to be inspired to do a make-up tutorial on her classic wingled liner and vintage red lips look. I used the L’Oreal True Match Foundation and Elizabeth Arden Mineral Make-Up as a base, and freshkon contact lenses in Sparkling Gray. You can opt to look a little paler (because she is) but I didn’t bother.

Watch the tutorial here for the full lesson!

I think that there are four elements to her look. Don’t forget her beauty spot either (that I drew in with my liner) that consists of neutral eyes, wingled liner, dark brows and of course an edgy red lip. Here we go!

1. Neutral Eyes – You want to stick with matte colors here. I used the Urban Decay eye-shadow from the Naked 2 Palette in Foxy which is a matte cream. Apply this color all over the lid and make sure it is somewhat applied heavily. You want to notice a color difference. Then, apply a matte brown to the crease. I used Buck from the Naked 1 Palette You don’t have to worry about the outer corner or outer v this time, just apply this color to the crease. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out this post: Quick Beauty Tip: Where do I put my eye-shadow? and you’ll get there. Smoke and blend away with a matte plum like Tease from the Naked2!

2. Wing Your Liner
– The best eye-liner to use is a liquid liner. I’m using the Revlon Colorstay Liner. It’s a pen but liquid at the same time, my favourite kind. You want a thick winged liner so draw away! Don’t forget to add a beauty spot to your cheek bone as well!

3. Dark Brows
– Some-what dark and heavy brows are characteristic of the look. I’m using the Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit and using the black to draw my brows out. A matte black also works for this look! The photo has washed out my brows, it’s darker in reality, really, just check out the video!

4. Get Red Lips
– It would be even better if you were able to get a matte red lipstick but I didn’t have one so I used an OCC lip tar in Strutter to do the trick. Remember to use the lip tars with a brush and not straight on for a much cleaner look. You don’t want it staining your clothes either because it will! The look kind of reminds me of Snow White too!

and you are finished!

Hope you liked the look!

Hey Everyone!

I’m such a fan of all the print ads of the Chanel Collections. They always manage to pick the perfect model, create the perfect color combinations to match the season and this year was not exception. The Spring 2012 collection is beautiful. I caught myself just staring at the display and was very tempted to fork out quite a large price tag for the actual products. But, one of my new years resolutions is to be a good girl so I decided to just show you how you can achieve the same look with colors lying in your collection. This is such a beautiful look, simple, glowing and I love the combinations of pinks and peaches. It is by far the epitome of Spring. You can watch the tutorial here:

Here’s a few tips and tricks to acheive this look:

1. Use your fingers to pat lighter shadows

When you want to create an eye-look with lighter colors, don’t be afraid to use your fingers to pat lightly onto your eye. It makes the shadows pay-off more vividly and you can place them specifically where you want to. I didn’t blend the shadows with a blending brush because they’re light already so they already don’t need help blending with each other.

2. Find a blush that has a strong gold reflex

A large and important part of achieving this look is the blush you use. I’m using the Sleek Blush in Rose Gold (for the first time) and I love it. It has such a strong and robust gold reflex undertone that it really highlights your cheek. You can also substitute this for a gold highlight on the top of your cheekbones and picking your favourite pink blush to pair with it. Don’t be afraid to put on a little more than usual, it’s just part of the look.

3. Don’t go heavy with eye-liner to keep things fresh

For lighter looks, don’t go heavy with the liner. It’ll totally cancel out what you did on your eyes. Instead, try to enhance it by using maybe a brown liner and just shading your waterline or tight line or use a jumbo eye pencil to add to the color of your lid line. At most, like what I did, use a black liquid liner to add a very thin line with your lashes to complete the look.

4. Cream shadows are awesome!

Cream shadows are certainly underrated. I wouldn’t suggest you using them alone on your eye because they are prone to creasing but use them underneath powder shadows and you can add a whole new color dimension to them. NYX Jumbo eye pencils are absolutely amazing. The one in yoghurt adds a beautiful pink tinge that matches well with the blush.

It’s an easy look if you can’t find any of your eye-brushes one day as well! (although that may be highly unlikely)

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial!

Hey Everyone!

December has come around and it’s finally time to lug out the Christmas tree from it’s year long hibernation, bring out the wreathes and dusty Christmas carol books and bring in the Christmas joy. A few months ago, I came across the blog and youtube channel of Say, from youtube.com/saytiocoartillero and www.saytiocoartillero.blogspot.com and I fell in love with Say’s personality and blog! She is absolutely stunning, is from the Philippines and is definitely a blogger and youtuber you need to subscribe to!

We decided to do a collaboration on a Holiday and Christmas Inspired Make-Up Tutorial to help you bring in the Christmas joy! I used the new Urban Decay Naked2 palette to create a gold shimmery but neutral look with glossy red lips while Say did a gorgeous silver with hot red lips as well! Together, we hope you can put these looks to good use this holiday season!

Let’s start! I decided to let the pictures do the talking in this tutorial so enjoy the upcoming picture fest! A few tips beforehand – if you don’t have a liner in the shade you want, simply wet your shadow brush and apply the shadow wet. It gives a great boost to the pigmentation of your look. Matte eye-shadow is best used blended into the crease! I’m going to demonstrate how to use those two techniques below.

And there we have it! A classic christmas look that you can do with the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette for all those who have already purchased it or are wishing to purchase it. Do check out Say’s blog and youtube channel and her lovely tutorial on another Christmas look you can do!

Hi Roseanne’s readers!

While many of you in the Southern hemisphere are about to enjoy the rays and the beaches, us up north are preparing to wrap ourselves in wool in as many forms as possible! I do miss the summer, so Roseanne’s let me invade her space to bring you a summer look – very nostalgic ;)

I don’t really want to call this a cliche “bronze goddess” look – but it is! I put a lot of emphasis on the eyes and cheeks, while still maintaining a wearable look (trust me, I’m off to the hospital in a bit with this on! :P)

The Base:

For this look, the base has to be glowy and natural but flawless at the same time. So I chose Dior Diorskin Forever Extreme Wear Flawless Make Up in 030, for a medium coverage but a natural matte finish. I concealed my dark circles with the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Peach, and covered my redness and acne scars with MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC35. To set it all, I used my MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Medium Plus to keep that natural finish!

The Eyes:

The first half of the fun with this look is definitely the eyes! After evening out my eyelids (I used MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot), I used MAC Rubenesque Paint Pot to add a subtle golden sheen all over the lid. And then I used the electric blue from the Sleek Sunset Palette (sorry I know you guys don’t have Sleek, but I honestly have no other colour like it!) on the bottom half of my eyelid. I then blended the edges out with MAC Woodwinked Eyeshadow, and also added a translucent wash of it over the blue to tone it down.

Afterwards, I used Half Baked from Urban Decay around the rim of Woodwinked to brighten it up. I also used Smog from Urban Decay in the outer corner just to deepen the socket a bit. I took the same colour and smudged it under the eyes too. Just to make sure this all doesn’t close up your eyes, I put a bit of Virgin from the Naked Palette in the inner corners of my eye.

And all that’s left to do is to add a brow highlight (I used MAC Brule Eyeshadow) and line your top lid with a black kohl pencil (MAC Powerpoint Pencil in Engraved) and put lashings of mascara that will separate and vava-voom your lashes – like Covergirl’s Lash Blast Volume :)

It should look something like this!

The Cheeks & Lips:

If you already read my blog, you’d know that cheeks are one weakness of mine – I LOVE blushers! But for this look, we’re gonna pass on the blusher and add some bronzer and highlighter instead. I chose Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer to contour my cheekbones, temples and jawline (make sure to make it quite harsh – we are all bronze goddesses here! :P), and mixed all the colours of Dior’s Shimmer Powder in Amber Diamond on my cheeks – there literally is nothing better on the market for a subtle bronze glow ;)

With all this kerfuffle going on, it’s best to go nude on the lips. My favourite nude is Rimmel London’s Moisture Renew lipstick in Nude Delight :)

After all that you should end up with something like this!:

Hope you liked it, and have a great summer! ;)

Hey Everyone,

I know it’s still early November but it’s never a shame to start preparing for the Holidays early and I’m not talking just Christmas either, Thanksgiving, Fall and Autumn leaves are just as good a reason to celebrate. Whenever I think of the Holidays, I think of hot cocoa next to a warm fire with silent night playing in the background. A classic holiday look I’ve always had in mind of doing is one with just a beautiful neutral eye and red lips. Some of you have said I looked quite vampy in this but hey, if you’re heading out to a holiday party, you might as well look hot. So let’s get on with the tutorial:

Step 1: Apply your eye-primer. I’m using the Face of Australia Eye-Primer in Matte.

Step 2: Using your fingers or a brush, collect a pale matte tan eye-shadow. I’m using “Naked” from the Urban Decay Naked Palette. By the way, the Urban Decay Naked Palette giveaway is extended until Nov. 30th! Just subscribe by entering your email address on the right widget and you’re set!

Step 3: Apply this pale tan colour all over the lid.

Step 4: Using another finger, collect a darker matte brown eyeshadow. I’m using “Buck” from the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

Step 5: Pat this matte brown on the outer corner of your eye and work it into your crease

Step 6: Using a pencil brush, collect a frosty cranberry shade onto your brush. I’m using “Toasted” from the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

Step 7: Apply this on your lid line and a little towards your outer corner.

Step 8: Collect a white pigment like the Illamasqua Pure Pigment in “Beguile” on a Paddle Brush

Step 9: Sweep the pigment under your eye and also on your brow bone. Then pat and blend it out just to have that beautiful shimmer.

Step 10: Line your eyes with your favourite pencil eye-liner. I’m using the Sportsgirl Draw the Line Eyeliner. I can’t wait to show you all my Sportsgirl Make-up. I’m pretty much a fan.

Step 11: Apply your false lashes. Please pick natural ones, these will look the best with this kind of look because are aiming for a naked, neutral eye to balance with a bold lip. I absolutely love the Ardell 110 Natural Lashes. They are the best.

Step 12: Draw your brows!

Step 13: Now time for your lips! Pick a dark berry. I’m using the M.A.C lipstick in Dark Side, it’s an amplified finish. Beautiful.

And you are finished!

You can see just how beautiful the shimmer is!

It’s the Classic Holiday Look. Perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas parties!

Hope you liked it!

Happy Early Holidays!

Hey Everyone!

Happy Halloween! I still remember when Halloween was worth more than a club night out and sluttified dresses. Back in the day, living in the American community in Singapore meant trick or treatin with pillowcases, going to friends houses, eating candy corn and bobbing for Apples in the good ole’ American tradition. Of course the logic of a twenty year old asking for candy among a swarm of five year olds might seem a little extraordinary, but who says we can’t celebrate Halloween with a bit of costume fun.

In early October, I met up with 5 other lovely YouTube Beauty Gurus in Melbourne – MissPixieLuLu, ProjectChester, Karlacosmetica, AddictiontoShopping and Aleesang - to do an Alice in Wonderland Halloween Makeup Tutorial Collaboration. We decided to go all out with the costumes, the video plan, the editing and the transitioning of the whole video to video, and channel to channel concept. In fact, here’s the finished product. It starts with the lovely MissPixieLuLu and the introduction and weaves into the next tutorial and then the next!

I was the Queen of Hearts or the Red Queen, so you can view my part right here!

We met up at Lucy’s house, which is beautiful by the way, and we decided to bring our costumes and make-up, set the table as if the Alice in Wonderland cast was coming to town and film the introduction and beggining and ending parts of each tutorial. It was a lot of work, and it took more time than what we thought we were going to take even taking the first few scenes. No wonder actors get paid so much! As we got a hang of where the camera should go, the lines and the lighting, we soon got used to filming the whole thing. Many cupcakes later, we finished and it was well worth it. It turned out fabulous, don’t you think?

I decided to do this making blog post sort of like a photo blog – more photos, less words – so let’s see a few behind the scenes photos shall we?

Here’s the lovely Lucy (MissPixieLuLu) and Karla (karlacosmetica) applying their make-up! Lucy is the Cheshire Cat and Karla is the White Queen!

Looking silly into the camera!

MissPixieLuLu shading her face purple just like the Cheshire Cat!

Everyone lazing around, putting make-up on or doing their hair – Daniel, Gaetano, Alice and Alee :)

I thought the Mad Hatter’s Hat was really cool!

The Alice and The White Queen being buddies as usual!

Alice (Angela from AddictiontoShopping ) doing a few touch-ups before filming!

The White Rabbit, White Queen and Queen of Hearts!

I’m actually not sure what they were looking at! I’m pretty sure it’s a foundation?

My costume was from SAVERS – a opt/thirft shop! It’s supposed to be a Vampire Queen of Hearts costume but I thought it would do. Plus, it’s brand new. If anyone wants to buy it from me (it fits a size 10 to 12) let me know! It’s defo up for grabs!

It’s time to set the scene! Look at these yummy “eat me” cookies!

The lovely Daniel and Gaetano from ProjectChester and previously allaboutdaniel !

Lucy looking oh – so – cute!

We were eating all the yummy treats on the table throughout the whole shoot!

Unwrapping cupcakes to set on the table!

Because the table at the tea party in Alice in Wonderland was pretty messy, we were sure to add tipped over tea pots and half-bitten cookies!

Mmm…Cupcake Heaven!

Still positioning everything!  I think setting the table was one of my favourite parts!

Now for the cast…

and a little hair-off picture! That wig was super annoying!

We then ended the day with yummy Fish and Chips from the best Fish and Chippery in Melbourne! What a reward for all our hard work that day!

I really hoped you liked this post!

Share it with your friends on facebook or leave a comment, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Hey Everyone!

One of my favourite make-up products of all time has to be the eyeshadow duos that NARS provides. They’re pigmented and you can clearly see why the two colors are married in the pan as the color combinations are well thought out and they should be, looking at the price tag. On my facebook page, I recently posted a picture of me off to a 21st, and I was requested quite a bit to do a tutorial:

So here I am with a tutorial and a little review of the NARS Eurydice Duo, one of my easy to do looks for any night or dinner out. It’s a duo I highly recommend. I won mine from a YouTube giveaway on TheSPNation! I usually judge my eyeshadows based on the packaging, colors, pigmentation and texture. Here’s a product description:

Packaging

The standard NARS packaging is a brand icon. It is a silicone feel skin which is not a good thing for clean freaks because it sticks to powder like honey and bees. The size of the duos are exactly the same size as a NARS blush and with a split pan, it’s more than enough product to last for quite a while. The colors match well and kind of remind me of the evil villain in Little Mermaid, forgot that octupus’ name though! Purple and black make for a really nice combination for any night look.

Color/Pigmentation

The NARS Eurydice has a beautiful purple and charcoal shade. The purple is absolutely magical because it has a slight blue shimmer undertone so that it produces a blue and purple sheen when applied. The charcoal is unique as well producing a slight dark silver after application. Both are almost what you call three dimensional shades. Depending on how much you need to apply, the shadows are sure not to disappoint. They are pigmented especially swatched on the fingertips but when swiped on the arm, the results aren’t half as bad either.

Texture

Soft, blendable, probably as good as you can get.

Overall, NARS eyeshadows are definitely worth the price you are paying. I’m glad to say that the duos from NARS make makeup application super easy. All you really need is two colors and NARS communicates that beautifully.

Let’s get on with the tutorial!

Step 1: Apply the purple shade all over the lid. I’m using the MAC 217 to do this, one of my favourite eye brushes of all time.

Step 2: Apply the dark charcoal shade in the outer half/corner of your lids to give dimension. I like to use a pencil brush for this to specifically apply the color

Step 3: Blend away harsh lines

Step 4: Apply the charcoal shade to your waterline and then up onto your lower part of  your outer corner to re-emphasize the shades after blending.

Step 5: Apply your eyeliner. I’m using a sharp liquid liner for the lid line (Benefit Magic Ink) and then I’m using a pencil liner for my waterline. This is one of my favourite all time eye-liners – the Sportsgirl Draw the Line – as it reminds me of the MAC Technakohl in Graphblack but for half the price. Plus, it stays on without giving you panda eyes! It’s only available in Australia.

Step 6: Apply your mascara and false lashes. I love my Ardell false lashes in natural 110, they are the best natural looking false lashes and are great for everyday!

Then, you’re done. It’s a cool more sinister and mysterious looking combination that I love!

Hope you like it! Overall,  I give this five out of five little Roseannes :)

Hey Everyone,

Finally, it’s Spring in Australia and although it might be freezing everywhere else in the world, we can finally soak up the sun after a seemingly long winter. That being said, the flowers are in full bloom which inspired me to create a spring look. I was also out shopping when I came across Diva’s new selection of Spring accessories and I thought I might get my hands on a few and create a look that would complement them. I returned them after I was done and exchanged them for something more…well, everyday – a little sneaky tip. By the way, I know the plural of Fairy is Faeries but it can also be spelled Faerie too!

Step 1: Prime Your Eyes. I’m using the Face of Australia Eye Primer in Matte. It creases a little bit after a long day but it does the job.

Step 2: Use a pink cream shadow and apply that in your crease and blend. I’m using the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yogurt.

Step 3: You now want to create a more clean base. I’m using the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk for this and placing this color all over the lid

Step 4: Set the white base with white eyeshadow. I’m using a matte white eyeshadow from the Sleek Divine Palette in Acid.

Step 5: Apply a matte hot pink color to the outer crease. Just dab a little bit of the color, we’ll blend this out later.

Step 6: Use a frost pink and blend the hot pink and frost pink all the way to your brow and then blend downward beneat your eye. This will be the “petals’ of the flower. I love using the MAC 217 for this. You shouldn’t be using a paddle brush for this, something fluffy will be good.

Step 7: Apply a forrest green to the outer corners of your eye. Blend this downward onto your water line as well. I’m using the dark green from the Wet N’ Wild Comfort Zone Palette.

Step 8: Now you have the base for the green, you will want to brighten this up. Use a bright green from the Sleek Divine Palette in Acid to go over this color and brighten the look.

Step 9: To add some wood to the look, just add some brown to the outer corners near the lid line.

Step 10: Add a bit of yellow to the middle of the lid for added dimension and blend it out.

Step 11: Add a matte white to the outer corners.

Step 12: Blend the colors on the crease together!

For a more softer look, you can skip the eyeliner and lashes to achieve this look:

or this:

Step 13: If you want a more defined look, use a liquid liner. You want a sharp line so skip the pencil and gel and go for liquid

Step 14: Add your false lashes. I’m using wispy demi lashes (or half lashes) for this

Step 15: Add a pretty coral liploss like the Sportsgirl Liquid Lip Color in Summer Holiday to complete your look!

Time for hair! Tie your hair up in a side pony tail!

.Grab your flower accessories!

and put them on and you are finished!

Hope you liked this tutorial!

Hey Everyone!

I am absolutely crazy about pumpkin pie. It is one of those pies I could eat five slices of and still not get enough. That, and carrot cake, oh em gee. I know the seasons are totally upside down but I’m going to make a fall look tutorial despite it being Spring in Australia. Either way, you can lighten the load on this look and it also makes  for a nice Spring look if you’re into the pumpkin tones. This was kind of an experimentation and I started putting colors together and then bam, sha bam, I came up with this look. I hope you’ll like it.

Step 1: Prime your eyes. I’m sure you know this step very well by now!

Step 2: Use a burnt orange color and apply all over the lid. I’m using one from the Wet n’ Wild Comfort Zone palette and my MAC 217.

Step 3: With a pencil brush, which is really important, apply a burnt toffee color into the outer corner and shade slightly above your lid line. Keep towards your lid line and don’t go too far up. Use the pencil brush like coloring pencil.

Step 4: Blend away.

Step 5: Apply a light pink caramel color to the inner corners. I’m using the NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Yoghurt. You can use a powder too to acheive the same effect but I wanted to start using my NYX pencils.

Step 6: Use a darker metallic brown to apply on your water line and the outer corner of your lid line. Remember to join the two. I’m using the NYX Jumbo eye pencil in French Fries.

Step 7: Apply false lashes, these are Ardell Natural Lashes in 110. Please don’t go overboard with the lashes. Kay, thanks.

Step 7: After you do your brows, apply your lipstick in a more neutral color. This is the Guerlain Kiss Kiss in Beige Nude

And then presto! You are done!

I like this look a lot, actually.

Hope you do too!

Hey Everyone!

Whether it’s that girl who’s flirting with the guy of your dreams or even the color you turn when you watch MTV cribs, we’ve all been there. Green with Envy. Although jealousy isn’t particularly a good feeling, it sure makes for good inspiration for a look. Today, I’ll be showing you how to do a standard green smokey eye in the natural way but most of all, show you how to use the Wet N’ Wild Color Icon Palette in Comfort Zone. I mean, I reckon it’s pretty simple already since it does label the colors for you but I’m sure you’ve yet to see those shadows in action – whether it’s the pigmentation or blendability that has stolen the limelight. Nontheless, I hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Step 1: Start with a primer. Whoever said you didn’t need a primer hasn’t had the fortunate chance of using one. You need a primer for any eye-look because the colors with a primer appear at least twice as vivid and sometimes more importantly in Singapore’s weather, it helps the shadows stay on your lids for much longer. I’m using the Urban Decay Primer Potion, depotted in a little jar.

Gently tap and then blend onto your lids. Don’t put too much primer because it will cake on your lids and look pretty awful. Less is more.

Step 2: Sometimes I think that a blending brush is the only eye-shadow brush I’ll ever need. The fluff off the brush is enough to pick up just the right amount of color and it has a dual purpose of blending and depositing the shadow on the lid. Grab the light and pale green, or any pale green in your collection.

Gently sweep the color over the lids. All over the lids is where you want to keep this color.

Step 3: Like all smokey eye looks, it’s time to grab the darker color. Pick up a dark forrest green. This is where the blending brush comes in really handy. If you were to use a normal paddle eyeshadow brush, you would be picking up too much color. With a dark shadow like this, it would look more like a liner. However, using a blending brush to pick up a color like this makes it easier to make that desired gradation and almond shaped eye.

Start in the outer corner and work inwards into the crease. Blend accordingly.

Step 4: Time to use a definer. I think the colors on the Wet N’ Wild palettes are absolutely gorgeous. They aren’t just simple colors that are plain green or plain dark green. They’re quite complex. This definer for example is a gray blue purple sparkle and it is absolutely gorgeous. Being a definer doesn’t give it too much justice so feel free to use it as a main component to your look. To integrate this, I just used a pencil brush to do some lining.

Simply line your eyes with this shadow.
You’ll get something that looks like this.
Step 5: if you’re gearing towards more of a natural looking, look, skip this step. But, if you like your liners, take a gel liner and line your lids as you would normally.

I always like the standard winged tip to enlogate the eyes.
To line your waterline, use the same definer shade and use the pencil brush to conveniently line your waterline.
Step 6: Don’t forget your mascara! One of my personal favourites is defintely the Benefit Bad Gal Lash. This mascara is amazing. You could use false lashes for this look but I always find those things quite uncomfortable personally so I’m usually just fine with my own lashes.
That Shu-Uemura eye-lash curler has been curling my lashes for three years now, unbelievable right?
The perfect way to do mascara is to take the wand at start at the roots of your lashes after you curl them and work the mascara upwards in a zig zag motion that seperates, curles and elongates the lashes. Whoops! Look at that mess!
Once you fill in your brows and you’re finished! If you don’t like that cut color look, just use a clean blending brush to blend the color along the line.
I’m sure you can judge for yourself just how wonderful these shadows are! I love this palette so much and thank Eliza for adding it in our swap!
Hope you liked the tutorial! What’s your favourite palette?

Love,
Roseanne

Hey Everyone!

The Urban Decay Naked Palette is one of the most talked about palettes that has ever hit online makeup shores. And, it’s to no suprise. If you’re like me, let’s face it. No matter how many tutorials there are telling you how to apply those intense and ultra funky colors of the rainbow on your lids, the only thing that’s going to see you during the day time with ultra colorful eyes is your own vanity mirror. Of course, this doesn’t apply to everyone and I’m certainly not against it. Makeup is an expression and you can and should wear it any way you’d like. Personally though, I like the natural browns, blacks and any variation of it during the day time. Call me boring but I might be a bit adventurous with a plum shade during the day, but I’m quite reserved when it comes to color.

That being said, if you’re just like me, having the Naked Palette in your hands is like a dream come true. With metallic and matte shades, the palette features browns, nudes, tans, blacks and silvers. Unfortunately, Urban Decay isn’t available in Australia and always seems to be sold out when you’re asking the befuddled sales assistants at Sephora but a wonderful friend gave one to me because she bought two and had no use for it. What luck, I know!

So, to put it to good use is my mission. I’ll be making a new series of roseannebeauty Urban Decay Naked Palette Tutorials. They’ll be feautring wearable and neutral good looking looks that are great during the day-time for work or play. Today’s look is called “Naturally Sultry”, I had a few suggestions about calling it Naked somehow but I didn’t want to be too controversial. Plus, a naked look would look more nude I reckon and this one is more..sultry.

Let’s Get Started!

Step 1: Add a Primer – a totally essential step when it comes to eye-shadows. It’s a must if you want to keep your shadows from creasing and want to make sure your shadows are vivid throughout the day.

Step 2 - Add a golden shadow or in this case, Half-Baked, all over your lids.

As with all looks, eye-shadow is simple. You need two colors basically. One lighter all over the lid and a darker shade in the crease and outer corner blended out.

Step 3: Use a blending brush and pick up a dark shadowy plum like Hustle. I love using blending brushes to apply color. They make sure everything is blended flawlessly and don’t add too much color so that it’s uncessary for the day time. In this case, this is a necessary step because this shadow in particular and actually all UD shadows are very pigmented, great quality and blend flawlessly. They are my favourite eye-shadows. Some tend to be a little too glittery though and are quite a bummer to clean up when there is fall-out.

Step 4: Use the blending brush and blend into the outer corner of your eye. This adds dimension and makes your eyes more defined and thus larger.

Step 5: Use a Pencil Brush to pick up a dirty brown color like Smog. I love pencil brushes. They’re great for precise application of your eye-shadow, especially in lining or specific crease-work.

Step 6: Use the shadow and brush and line your waterline with the color

You’ll end up with something like this!

Step 7: Use the same pencil brush and pick up a black like Creep.

Step 8: Yep, I’m not using a conventional liner for this tutorial. Simply line your eyes with the shadow. This creates a less harsh look and when you add mascara, will put your lashes in the spotlight instead.

Step 9: With fluffy blending brush, blend away any harsh lines for a flawless, gradient effect.

Step 10: Add your mascara!

and you are finished! :) A great smokey look you can do with the Naked Palette!

I hope you liked this tutorial!

Roseanne

Hey Everyone!

If you take two lipsticks and two different people, you’ll have four different looks, not two. Why? Because makeup looks different on different people.

Today, I’ve grabbed one of my best friends, Danielle, to show you what I mean. We decided well not really decided, it was sort of on a whim, like all the things we do, and we thought it would be cool to reach out of our comfort zones to try on different lipsticks. Although we are pretty similiar people except I think she’s more of a social butterfly than I am, you’ll notice that she’s a cooler tone and her lips are totally different from mine. We’ll take the same lipstick and switch it up to compare nude versus bold lips.

This is us with our natural lip color. I honestly prefer my natural lip color more than any other lip color and that’s probably why i’m not much of a lip fan but Danielle always seems to have to always put something on. She loves keeping her lips nude so taking these pictures made her pretty uncomfortable and resulted in “deleting sessions” of pictures she thought she looked bad in every five or so minutes. I was just shaking my head in a corner. She’s probably going to kill me for putting up that cover picture.

Who are today’s culprits? For nude lips, we decided not to go too pale or too mask like, and went for a nicer semi-nude MAC lipstick in Shy Girl. As for bold lips, we went for the amplified Dark Side. It’s the boldest lipstick I have.

So here we go. Danielle first puts on the bold lipstick, laughing all the way because she thinks she looks utterly ridiculous in such a bold color. All the while I’m telling her that she doesn’t always have to go nude!

And then I start to put on my “nude” lipstick. I’m not really a fan of nude lipsticks. I feel like they make you look too pale, or me at least. I want something that emphasizes my lips, not exactly makes them dissapear.

With any bold lipstick, not using a lip brush, means the lipstick is for sure probably going to go out of the lines a bit. You’re supposed to also use a lip liner in dark bold lipstick cases because “bleeding” might occur. Not actual bleeding but as the day goes on, the lipstick might bleed out of the lines and that’s not hot. Here, it’s for “play” purposes. We were going to take it off anyway so we decided to skip the liner.

I added a gloss because I haven’t used my MAC lip glass in ages, in Young Thing, so I applied it over the shy girl coat.

And there we have it. You can see that bold lips really make your teeth look whiter while nude lips give that soft, angelic and seemingly innocent demeanor. I honestly think it really looks nice on Danielle! Her full lip shape really does the shade justice.

We then decided to switch lip shades to see how different the two colors would look like on each other.

To take off the lipstick, I just used a Simple Eye Makeup Remover. I know it’s for eyes but it’s not like we’re eating it. It removed it really well without the oil that most makeup removers seem to have.

And there we have it. I have thinner lips so it really looks like the bold lips just line my lips. That’s Danielle’s signature look with her nude lips! I also think that Dark Side as a lipstick looks better on cooler skintones so Danielle pulls it off really well. I think I shall just stick to my natural lip color!

I hope you enjoyed this “semi-pointless” post but nonetheless it was fun for us to do!

What lip color do you think you look best in?

Love,
Roseanne

Hey Everyone,

We’re all looking for that look we can wear everyday – to school, to a party or to work. It has to emphasize all the right curves, can’t look too over the top but still take a really short time to do up in the morning. So, here’s a look to solve your problemos. Little do we know that smudging your eye-liner creates a nice, sexy but sophisticated smokey eye that suits your everyday requirements. All you really need is a lighter shadow, a darker shadow, a great smudgeable liner and something to smudge it out like a q-tip or in this case a pencil brush. Hopefully this quick tutorial will help you save some time in the morning!

Step 1: Apply a base. Here, I’m using MAC Prep+Prime, in the video, I used the Urban Decay Primer Potion. This is the key to eye-shadow success, you must prime your lids. It makes your shadows more long lasting and vibrant.

Step 2: Use your favourite eye-shadow brush and pack on a frosty sand shade. I love using the MAC 217, it’s a very versaitile brush. The shadow featured here is Stila’s Wheat.

Step 3: Apply the sand colored frosty shadowy goodness all over your eye-lid. This will create a dewy look.

Step 4: Find a dark brown frost shadow, I’m using Shiseido BR618, and apply it to the tip of your shadow brush so that you have a point to work with.

Step 5: Apply this to the lower part of your lids blending a little into the Outer V.

Step 6: Use a smudgeable eye-liner, like Urban Decay’s Zero, and use it to line your top lids

Step 7: Before it sets, use a pencil brush or even a q-tip to smudge the liner.

Step 8: Define your eyes furthur by lining your waterline and tightline

Step 9: Apply your mascara. I’m using Covergirl’s Lashblast. It’s such a good mascara.

and you’re finished! What am I wearing today? It’s unfortunately pretty cold in Melbourne right now so I’m in love with my new scarf from New Look, I got it on sale for $13! It’s super soft. I’m also wearing a brown dress from Mango, a faux-pearl necklace from Diva, some tights and a pair of…

Suede wedge booties from Rubi Shoes!
I hope you liked the tutorial!
Of course, I always go for neutrals. What eye-shadow color combinations do you usually wear?
Love,
Roseanne

Hey Everyone,

I’m a person who loves wearing the same thing over and over again. I’ll wear my plaid blue forever 21 shirt with my denim shorts every sunday no matter what my mother says. So, when it comes to having a signature look, I’m probably known more for my brown smokey eyes. Smokey eyes always seem to make your eyes multitudes larger and it’s a look I like sporting during day or night.  in particular is a smokey brown that I achieve with probably one of my most loved products – the NARS Cordura Eyeshadow duo. In honour of this wonderful duo, I have done a tutorial on achieving my well “signature look”  - a look you’ll always see me wear regardless of the occasion and a look I can always fall back on. Hot dates included.

First of all, let’s turn on the spotlight and roll out the red carpet for the NARS Cordura eye-shadow duo. I love NARS duos even though I only have two – one in Eurydice and the other in Cordura – both make spectacular colour combinations. I firmly believe that NARS has put much time and effort into making effortless combinations with high quality shadows. This one especially makes a gorgeous smokey eye that I haven’t stopped loving since day one.

The only brush I’ll use today is the MAC 224, or any fluffy blending brush will do – even $1 ones at local shops. Unless you want a more pigmented approach, I don’t necessarily need to pack on color. Even then, these shadows are so pigmented that it doesn’t really matter.

Let’s be honest. This is going to be such a no brainer tutorial (borderline pointless) and I think it’s why it’s my signature look. I spend possibly 5-6 minutes putting on my make-up everyday and getting a set and really easy eye that looks good on you is uber important.

Step 1: Place the lighter brown all over the lid with your blending brush. Yep.

Step 2: Place the darker brown onto your outer V in dabbing motions and blend slightly into the crease. Blend with the side of the blending brush to create a more flawless finish

Step 3: Line your lids, waterline and tightline. Right now, I’m loving the KATE super sharp liner or any liquid pen liner for that matter. For the waterline and tightline, I’m using the Urban Decay 24/7 liner but I find that the MAC technakohl in Graphblack does really well as well.

Step 4: Apply Mascara. For drugstore, the Covergirl lashblast pictured here is amazing and I also like the Loreal Collagen Mascara once it has dried out a bit. For department store, the Benefit Bad Gal Lash is good as well!

and you are done with the eyes! See how absolutley amazingly easy that was! Yeah.

I then finish off by defining my brows. I love the YSL brow pencil for that. For cheeks, I contour with the Hoola by Benefit Bronzer and finish off with a light pink shade like one of my favourites, the NARS Deep Throat. Lately, I’ve been into NARS Torrid. I should totally do a NARS collection! It’s growing in fact when it really shouldn’t be. Oh well, the life of a makeup addict. I usually never wear anything on the lips but when I do, it’s either the Chanel Rouge Allure in Darling or the Chanel Rouge allure in Super patted lightly. For foundation, I pretty much only use right now the Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Makeup – I find that it does wonders for my skin.

Well, I hope you liked this no-brainer tutorial!

What’s your signature look like?

Love, Roseanne

Hey Everyone,

It’s that special time of year when you’re either calling bids that Valentine’s Day is just a marketing gimmick, lucky enough you have someone special to celebrate with or like me, crying your eyes out. Just kidding!  But seriously, Mr. Right better get on a segway soon, he seems to be walking and smelling the flowers at the same time.  Nevertheless, what’s a beautiful valentine night without looking your best for your significant other? Thus, here’s a look that I hope will make you the apple of his eyes. :)

I wanted to create a look with The Body Shop A La Mode quad from the Brush with Fashion Collection so pretty much, the eyes were created using the quad with the exception of the mascara. You always have to keep the same concept of having a lighter color all over the lid and a darker or more colorful outer-corner. That being said, I had either silver or white to work with because pink all over the lid might look like you have a rash – trying out both, I picked the white. I do hope you fall in love with this look!

Step 1: Apply an eye-base. You don’t want oily looking lids or droopy shadows on your date. This will also help create a bare canvas so your colors show up better.

Pat the base all over your eye-lid!

Step 2: Apply a white eye-shadow (in the A la Mode – Minimalist White) all over your lid.

I used the MAC 217, one of my favourite brushes. It blends and is able to pack on color!

Step 3: Apply a pink eye-shadow (A la Mode Quad – Pret a Pink) on the outer corners, blending into the crease.

This will give you dimension and go well with the sweetheart theme!

Step 4: Apply a black eye-shadow and use the shadow to smoke up your lid line

This is a little bit of nighttime since most dates I reckon are…at night

Step 5: Use a black eye-iner and have fun lining your lid, waterline and tightline

You can use brown liner but I like it dark.

Apply two coats of mascara or use not too flashy and really simple false lashes  and you’re done with the eyes!

Now for your cheeks!

Step 7: Contour. I love my Hoola By Benefit Bronzer for this job!

Step 8: Apply blush to your cheeks. Use a nice light pink blush like Dandelion by Benefit or you could go for something Petal Pink. NARS Deep Throat, MAC Pink Swoon would be good picks as well.

Step 9: For your lipstick, add a boost of color and lightly pat a hot pink lipstick (Chanel Rouge Allure in Super) on your lips. The lightly patting motion will put just enough to brighten the look but not too much that it’s too overpowering for your lover.

And you are done hunny! You won’t just be attracting your date, you might be catching the eyes of others too hahha. Kidding.

I hope you have a fabulous Valentines Day! Remember, Valentines Day is your day to show your love not only to your boyfriend but also to your other loved ones like your friends and family and if you’re not single – stop rubbing it in. Haha just kidding. Do your thang girlllfrieeeend.

Lots of Love,

Roseanne

Hey Everyone!

So tomorrow will be my fourth day of work and I must say I’m having a blast being an intern for an advertising firm! Dressing well is pretty important when meeting clients so here is a work-appropriate look that I’ve been doing every day.

When finding a work-appropriate look, you want to look for a look that not only suits you but isn’t too dark and dramatic. A neutral look that matches most outfits is perfect. In this post, you’ll also get a few product reviews of current products that I’m using in my everyday routine. Enjoy!

Step #1: After priming, use a light silver pink eye-shadow all over the lid. Use a blending brush to sweep the colour.

Step #2: Use a darker brown in the outer corner of the lids to create dimension. This is from the Stila Marrakesh quad, one of my favourites. I’ve also used the same blending brush. Blend into outer corner and crease to create a subtle outer V.

Step #3: This KATE super sharp liner is my new favourite everyday liner. It was too sharp at first almost too poky but gradually the tip softened so that it stopped hurting upon application. It gives great pigmentation and stays on all day.

Step #3: Line your lids with your favourite liner. I must say the liquid pencil is a nice break from using an additional brush with my gel-eyeliners.

Step #4: Emphasise your eyes further by lining your tight line and waterline. If you want to go less dramatic, skip this step but I feel it gives a sleek finish.

Step #5: Mascara time! This is one of my favourite mascaras once it has dried out a bit – the Benefit Bad Gal Lash! It lengthens, curls and volumizes just the way I like it!

Don’t forget to do your eye-brows! As for my foundation routine, I usually use a sunscreen, primer, the Maybelline Superstay 24/Hr foundation, MAC Studio Finish concealer and Maybelline Dream Matte powder. I finish off with the Hoola By Benefit as a contour and MAC’s Pink Swoon to blush!

For an outfit, I love to dress in a simple dress or blouse and amp it up with accessories. This look looks expensive but with the dress being from Valleygirl ($24), necklace ($7) from Diva, bracelet ($29 on sale) from Mango and paired with your favourite watch- you’ll trick everyone at the office!

Have fun at work tomorrow!

Roseanne

Hey Everyone!

Here’s a really simple look that I think is day appropriate but will add a little dimension to your eyes. I’m using the Stila Marrakesh quad quite often these days and this is one of the looks you can make from them, might do another pinkier look as well later on. I’ve also been experimenting with just using my blending brush as my only eye tool and I really like how smoothly blended the look becomes with less pigmentation that I usually wear. According to your preference, you might want to opt for a dark brown liner as well if the black seems to bold.

1. Prime your eyes - ultra important for pigmentation an d long lasting purposes.

2. Find a light pink shadow and pack some onto a blending brush

3. Sweep the light pink color all of your lid. Remember with eye-shadows, you want a light all over lid and a darker outer corner. Just two colors.

4. Pick a darker chocolate brown for the outer corner and pack some on the same blending brush

5. Concentrate the color in the outer V or outer corner of your eyes, blending into the crease. i didn’t want a defined color line, so it looks all blended together which is what I initially wanted. Excuse my eye-brows. I’m growing them out to get my moneys worth at Browhaus haha.

6. Apply liner to your lids, waterline, and tightline – whatever floats your boat

7. Apply your mascara - this one is one of my favs after it has dried out a bit!

8. Go ahead and do your brows - an important step to add structure and frame to any look. I love the YSL brow pencil, a re-purchase product fo shizzle

and you’re done!

Hey Everyone!

It’s been a while since I made a look and with the new UD NYC Book of Shadows still at Sephora stores, I thought it would be fun to create a look with the palette for all of those people who don’t know what to do with it.

I’m probably queen of smoky eyes because that’s my favourite look so here’s one you can do for a fun girl’s night out! I suggest you view the video, it’s less than five minutes.

Smoky, with green gray and purple undertones

So if you’re really not up for videos, it doesn’t take too much

Your To-Do List:

1. Always prime if you want vivid eye-shadows. First, I put on a bit of MAC’s prep and prime eye just to create a bare canvas. Then I put the Urban Decay Primer Potion on my lids to make those shadows stay

2. For the base, I add some of the ransom 24/7 liner to my finger tip and dab the color all over my lids. I then use the 24/7 liner in zero, add it to my lid and smudge upwards to smoke it up

3. Put a pale green eyeshadow like money on to the lids and blend

4. In the outercorner add a darker green shadow like loaded to the outer corners to give a little dimension

5. With a blending brush, add some rockstar eyeshadow to the crease

6. Line your waterline and your lid line with the 24/7 liner in Ransom and line your lid line again with the 24/7 liner in zero

7. Add some mascara and false lashes and you are done hunny!

Have fun tonight ;)

xx Roseanne

Oh and a few days ago, Urban Decay sent me the following things :) that sparked me to do a review on the Urban Decay eyeshadows. I think though the best way to demonstrate eyeshadows was to do a tutorial and its up there :) Urban Decay Eyeshadows are so pigmented and highly blendable because they have minimal amounts of binders and fillers that equates to pigmented and vivid colors.

Here is what I received:

2 Urban Decay Eyeshadows in Mildew and Vert! and UDPP samples in original and sin

A wonderful note from Eric Jimenez who I met at the UD event! Not sure what he’s thanking me for though, but thanks Eric!!

Swatch time!

Love,

Roseanne
