Hey Everyone!

hihihi

Today I thought I might do a make-up tutorial – I know, it’s been too long. I wanted to do an everyday make-up tutorial that shows you my before and after so as you can see from the starter image – that’s me before and that’s me after. I only realised that it really is such a huge difference when I was adding all the text to the pictures and I guess make-up does really work wonders right? For today’s look, I wanted to do an Asian makeup tutorial that I’ve been doing everyday. It’s those clean looking eyes but still made bigger with really bright lips. I always see this look with Kpop stars. I thought I would hop on the boat even though I don’t really look —–> Read More

The brand was founded in 2012 by The Colour Lab of LG Household & Healthcare in Korea and is known to provide an extensive range of innovative beauty products from make-up to body care at everyday prices! It’s great that it’s finally arrived here in Singapore! VDL invited me to do a makeover with them at their store in Bugis Junction and to get more familiar with their products! When I think of Chinese New Year, I think of copious amounts of one of my favourite foods (pineapple tarts), hong baos, lots of red and gold and also…cherry blossoms! My nails were a bit drab and I had no time to go get them done like everyone else seems to have had this year so I decided to do them myself tonight and try a new design! I was looking up Chinese New Year nail art and chanced upon a few good ones but I really like how simple and classic cherry blossoms can be! Here’s a tutorial on how to achieve this pretty design so you can show them off in the next couple of days!

I woke up this morning and decided to do my nails. It’s Christmas Eve! I’ve seen so many people with these Christmas sweater nails and I fell in love with them at first sight. I could have gotten them done at a salon but who knows how much that would have cost me. So last night before dinner when I was waiting for Jacob to hurry up and park the car, I saw these babies at Guardian. They are the Model Own Nail Art Pens. I initially spotted them as stripers because I opened the cap and saw the thin brush but soon realised that they can be used as pens too. I’ve been looking high and low for these. I do own nail art brushes —–> Read More

Do you want to build a snowman? To be honest, I didn’t know I was going to like this movie this much. I really liked it. I watched it twice in two days. Yeah. I don’t want to give you any spoilers but it was so cute, funny, honest and just so cute and being the make-up artist in me, I couldn’t stop staring at Elsa’s hair and make-up! Gosh, those pink and purple lids with that windblown hair was absolutely gorgeous. It was so gorgeous that I woke up this morning wanting to do a make-up tutorial on it!

Smokey eye make-up on Asian lids can be a little tricky. I’ve had tons of ladies telling me they’re hopeless at it and that they always end up looking like Kung Fu Panda’s sister or even worse, punched in the eye. Today I thought I’d do a make-up tutorial on how you can get smokey eye makeup for asian eyes. It’s really simple. The main idea is that you don’t go overboard and too high above the crease. Be subtle about it. Asian eyes tend to be a lot smaller so you want to add colour gradually and specifically.

There’s probably only one reason why I don’t like doing Gel nails. They’re hard to take off and until today, I though you’d always have to pay someone to take them off. Gel nail polish isn’t like ordinary nail polish. It usually lasts a month, uses UV light to set and regular nail polish won’t be able to get rid of it (when you want to of course). In Singapore, this whole thing sets you back 20 – 25 dollars and that already is more than half a regular manicure – and that’s just removing the gel nail polish! I got my gel nails done because I was doing them in Indonesia and a week later I had to host a video for a client —–> Read More

I’ve been sporting red lips like nobody’s business – just like or so it seems – the rest of the world. When I walk around Orchard road, I’m seeing more people with red lips than ever before so today, I decided to do my guide to getting those perfect red lips. I love red lips because they just stand out from the crowd. They’re able to make your entire look come alive and turn tired faces into energetic ones even though we might be faking it. For this post, I’ve chosen a few of my favourite tips and my favourite red lipsticks (with lip swatches too!) to show you.

It’s probably something that most of us forget but no make-up look is complete without perfect eye-brows! It’s so important because it frames your face and when done properly, can make you look skinnier, more symmetrical and just overall gorgeous. I’ve been absolutely a big fan of the new Benefit Gimmie Brow Brush-on fibre gel which is like an all in one. It defines your brows and actually comes in 2 shades, and because it’s a gel – it will keep your hairs in place too.

When you’re first starting out with make-up, I know how hard it is to jump from using a make-up sponge to getting a brush to call your own. You’re not sure if you should but it looks like everyone around you has loads of make-up brushes and you’re not sure what the difference is between using a sponge vs a brush. Not to fret though, here’s my guide on the four ways I usually apply my foundation and the pros and cons of using sponges vs. brushes.

There are so many crazy make-up trends happening these days – from lip tattoos to furry and claw shaped nails! Ombre lips have been in for a while now and I just love how it looks like absolute art on the lips. They’re not something I would wear out on a daily basis, but it was a monday afternoon off so I decided to play with my lipsticks. The essence of an ombre lip is just playing with light and dark shades to create shadows or highlight. Blending is also key so that the colors just melt into one another! I can’t believe the summer is already over and now we’re approaching fall and autumn. Here in Singapore, we might not be able to pack on our chilly weather clothes, but we sure can have fun changing our make-up. I’ve had a lot of requests lately on doing “one-brand” make-up tutorials. I can’t think of a brand that exudes fall and autumn more than Anna Sui. I love how all their products smell like rose and the packaging is always a plus!

Here’s the scene. It’s 6 am in the morning and you have a hot date tonight after work. You’re not sure if the smokey eye you wanna wear for tonight is “work-appropriate” so you’re scrambling to gather your make-up in a bag so you can somehow transform your day look into more sultry make-up sure to impress your date. Happy Saturday! I woke up this morning and decided to do a tutorial and since I hauled the Shu Uemura Eye-Conic Collection a few posts ago, I thought why not give them a whirl. I picked the Yellow Trio and Pink Blush Duo to play with and also incorporated it with my Shu Uemura Lasting Soft Gel Pencil that is in need of an urgent review soon. I love it so much. I’ve heard a lot about Shu Uemura eye-shadows – they’re pigmented, soft and can create that duo tone look and to be honest, it fulfilled every expectation.  I created a soft smokey eye that’s great for the weekend or lunch out with your gal pals and paired it with soft pink —–> Read More

So here I am stuck in bed, feeling a bit unwell. I decided to finally check off my first attempt at any kind of nail art and hey, I’m actually pretty proud of myself! I decided to do soft pastel roses. Well, it turned out that way anyway. I get a lot of questions asking what should I get – natural or synthetic hair make-up brushes and the answer is, both. That’s because natural and synthetic hair is useful for different functions when it comes to applying make-up and both are essential to either your personal or professional make-up kit. Here’s the low down on both and what they’re great for.

Laura Mercier’s Spring Collection is inspired interestingly enough not by candy in a jar or flowers, but by ballet and yoga. I hope you had a festive Chinese New Year, and still going! I recently got my hands on my very own hair doll to practice. We used these at beauty school and since every make-up artist here seems to know hair like the back of their hand, I knew I needed to brush up on it. But, doing your own hair is so different from doing someone else’s hair since you can actually see what you’re doing in the latter.

The world of creative falsies has always been foreign to me. I mean, when would I find the occasion to wear lashes with red and green feathers or even to the more simple diamonte ones? Probably never. But, going to make-up school helped bring out the crazier side of me and that’s when I learned of Paperself lashes. If you think feathers is a bit too cray cray for you, then how about paper cut out eyelashes? That’s right.

Applying perfect eyeliner can be a difficult task for the newbie in make-up to some of the experts. It’s something that requires practice and patience. But if you’re out of both, here is a really easy way to put training wheels on your eyeliner. All you need is a dark eye-shadow like a matte black or brown that will be your eye definer and a sharp synthetic angled eyeliner brush. Use these two tools as your training wheels. Simply draw on the eye shadow where you would put your eyeliner. The synthetic angled eyeliner brush (I recommend the Ecotools one) will help you draw precise lines with the shadow.

Cream blush has always been a love it or hate it product for me. If applied to heavily, I look like Krusty the Clown and for some reason it never wants to stay on your cheek right? So today I’m going to teach you how to properly apply cream blush so that you get the exact color every time.

Cream blush is simply a blush in cream consistency. Almost every big name make-up brand has a cream blusher and for good reason. They give you a healthy glow especially great for photoshoots when you want to a healthy and glowing finish on your model.

Lip liner is one of those love it or don’t know it kind of products. Most of us don’t even use lip liner and reach straight for our lipsticks right? I know I used to. But I find that for bold lips – whether it’s red, pink or even orange –  nothing beats a good lip liner to really define your lips and make sure that your lipstick doesn’t move or fade.

The best lip liners are smooth, easy to apply, sharp and pigmented. You need to be able to get pigment by a very light trace of the pencil. Here’s a simple tutorial on how to apply your lip liner. Of course the way you do this is just like eye liner in that you have thousands of —–> Read More

Although it’s been a while since Burberry beauty landed on Singapore shores, I remember still feeling pretty excited that this classic luxury brand had finally made it’s own make-up line following in the footsteps of Chanel, Dior and YSL. Skeptics say that they can’t possibly make as good a product as they can with their fashion, but with YSL’s touche eclat, Chanel’s vita and matte lumiere and Dior’s lipsticks and nail polishes, it’s only about time till they come out with their own cult product.

The first time I spotted Caviar nails, it instantly reminded me of yummy vanilla cupcakes and sprinkles. Of course, I thought it was a bit odd and then it grew on me. It’s an adorable nail trend and after seeing Fleur De Force’s blog post on the MUA (Make Up Academy) Nail Constellations, I had to go out and get myself some from Superdrug, the local health/beauty pharmacy in London. It’s much like Watsons in Singapore or Priceline in Australia. I obviously couldn’t wait to sprinkle magic on my fingernails so here’s my first try at it! Happy Halloween! I still remember when Halloween was worth more than a club night out and sluttified dresses. On my facebook page, I recently posted a picture of me off to a 21st, and I was requested quite a bit to do a tutorial:

So here I am with a tutorial and a little review of the NARS Eurydice Duo, one of my easy to do looks for any night or dinner out. It’s a duo I highly recommend. I won mine from a YouTube giveaway on TheSPNation! I usually judge my —–> Read More

Hey Everyone,

Finally, it’s Spring in Australia and although it might be freezing everywhere else in the world, we can finally soak up the sun after a seemingly long winter. That being said, the flowers are in full bloom which inspired me to create a spring look. I was also out shopping when I came across Diva’s new selection of Spring accessories and I thought I might get my hands on a few and create a look that would complement them. I returned them after I was done and exchanged them for something more…well, everyday – a little sneaky tip. By the way, I know the plural of Fairy is Faeries but it can also be spelled Faerie too!

Hey Everyone!

I am absolutely crazy about pumpkin pie. It is one of those pies I could eat five slices of and still not get enough. That, and carrot cake, oh em gee. I know the seasons are totally upside down but I’m going to make a fall look tutorial despite it being Spring in Australia. Either way, you can lighten the load on this look and it also makes  for a nice Spring look if you’re into the pumpkin tones. This was kind of an experimentation and I started putting colors together and then bam, sha bam, I came up with this look. I hope you’ll like it.

Hey Everyone,

My hair has a life of its own. When I’m sad or feeling tired, my hair seems to flop down and appear flat but when I’m awake and energetic, it instantly volumizes itself. Weird. But the point of this post is here. I am much flattered to say that the number one question I receive on the blog and on YouTube is what I do with my hair. It’s often a question I appreciate but one that I kindly ignore because well, there’s not much to say. I’m really doing this post because I need to document that I did answer this quesition and why not to do it over the blog (and maybe make a —–> Read More

Hey Everyone!

So now it’s time for the eyes. Lately, I’ve been sporting fake lashes quite frequently. The natural ones, and I mean the natural ones, look great for daily wear. It’s just like adding mascara but with a little more oomph that I like. Plus, it looks extra flirty which is definetly a plus. The Ardel Fashion Lashes in natural and 110 make the best bet for natural looking, daily lashes. Here are my eyes for everyday, I’ve been wearing the Almay Intense iColor Trio for a while now so if you’d like to see how it looks on the eyes, then read on!

Hey Everyone!

It’s been a long time (in blog world) that I’ve posted anything. Blame it on indecent inspiration. But today, I thought it would be fun to do a tutorial on my updated makeup routine that I’ll probably be doing right after I type this up, I have class in an hour but seeing that my 2 week holiday is coming up, I might go. When my friends ask me how long I take to apply my makeup on in the morning, I’m usually greeted with shock. I take around 10-15 minutes. Well, if you know what you’re doing, it really shouldn’t be a problem. Plus, a tip is to always keep your makeup organized. So without further adue, let’s do —–> Read More

Hey Everyone!

I’ve always been a firm believer that buying eyeshadow quads are tons more valuable than buying single shadows. They’re convenient, often themed so the colors go together and I get more colors. In fact, in my drawn out relationship with makeup, I haven’t finished a single eye-shadow…yet. So today, I thought I should do a review of a good one, that being the Maybelline Expertwear Eyeshadow Quad. I’m going to follow the directions on how to use this palette, given a step by step tutorial, and I’ll explain my feelings about it at the end of this post. Let’s get crackin’!

The quad comes in a cute rectangle shaped —–> Read More

Whether it’s that girl who’s flirting with the guy of your dreams or even the color you turn when you watch MTV cribs, we’ve all been there. Green with Envy. Although jealousy isn’t particularly a good feeling, it sure makes for good inspiration for a look. Today, I’ll be showing you how to do a standard green smokey eye in the natural way but most of all, show you how to use the Wet N’ Wild Color Icon Palette in Comfort Zone. I mean, I reckon it’s pretty simple already since it does label the colors for you but I’m sure you’ve yet to see those shadows in action – whether it’s the pigmentation or blendability that has stolen the limelight. —–> Read More

The Urban Decay Naked Palette is one of the most talked about palettes that has ever hit online makeup shores. And, it’s to no suprise. If you’re like me, let’s face it. No matter how many tutorials there are telling you how to apply those intense and ultra funky colors of the rainbow on your lids, the only thing that’s going to see you during the day time with ultra colorful eyes is your own vanity mirror. Of course, this doesn’t apply to everyone and I’m certainly not against it. Makeup is an expression and you can and should wear it any way you’d like. Personally though, I like the natural browns, blacks and any variation —–> Read More

Hey Everyone,

After my recent video on how to apply BB Creams, I had a few queries on what exactly these makeup products are. For anyone who ever wondered what a BB cream is without the image of a 4 year old with a BB gun popping in mind, I thought this Back to Basics post would be quite helpful. Today, you’ll be reading my ultimate guide to BB creams – where they came from, how they made it so big, and why they’re different to foundations. I’ll also be comparing the bb creams I have in my collection to see how they vary in finishes, texture and color.

Let’s get ready to cram some BB knowledge.

Applying my blush  is possibly, I feel, the best part of my make-up routine. It makes all the difference to not only add life to any look, but also to help bring your cheeks upwards for an overall slimmer and sexier face. Here’s a method that I absolutely love doing when I wear lipsticks because it brings out a stunning pop of color that’s natural, but better.

In my NARS Blush Review, I told you all that I like to use the NARS Zen Blush in my layering blush technique. It’s the second color that inches towards the blush from the contour that helps bring the brighter blush out. I learned this tip when I dealt with —–> Read More

I’ve never had really dark under-eye circles fortunately, but unfortunately I receive many questions on how you can eliminate these often annoying flaws. The truth is, I’m not an expert. I’m not an expert because I don’t get them often so when I woke up one day and looked into the mirror to see them flashing back at me, I yelled in excitement for this was an opportunity to well, “eliminate” them. Using make-up that is.

Go Away, Dark Circles?

Here’s a bit of background to dark under-eye circles first. Before you go running around finding a cold cucumber and some ice, I’m going to tell you —–> Read More

Hey Everyone,

I honestly think we need some epic music right about now. The time has come to depott my primer potion. I’ve seen blog posts and I’ve seen videos in the past so with basically nothing coming out on the wand of my UDPP and no retail counter to purchase my beloved primer at, I took out a cutting board, a sharp knife and looked at the bottle with kind eyes, ready to say “Goodbye”.

The tools of the trade? Committing a crime against your UDPP needs a decent knife. I don’t recommend a serrated knife like I used in this tutorial, but I didn’t have one on hand in Australia. You need a small sample jar so that you can —–> Read More

I’ve only recently had one of those days. You’ve just finished a full day of uni, you’re dead tired, your hair is flopped down and your make-up is pretty much non-existant. As you’re waiting to cross the street, the man of your dreams comes walking towards you, you peer into the glass pane behind you to see how you look and probably one word comes to your mind, “S***”. I probably shouldn’t swear on this blog.
My advice to you? Run like the wind!
We all have a decent amount of days when we wish our make-up lasted forever, or perhaps we wished that at least it wouldn’t oil up so fast. Perhaps that after our sunscreens are applied, we —–> Read More

Hey Everyone,

We all love a sunny day. Not a cloud in the sky, it’s bright, it’s beautiful and it’s the perfect weather for picnics, walks in the parks or a cheery day in the city. Little do we know that if we don’t have protect our skin from these wonderful rays, it could lead to a multitude of harmful consequences. Today, I’m going to assume that you know nothing about sunscreens for the face or face sunscreens or even spf and combine all you should know about sunscreen in a post – including sunscreen tips, why sunscreen is so important and common sunscreen definitions. I’ll then show you the face sunscreens I have and —–> Read More

Hey Everyone,

I don’t know about you, but I have an absolute obsession with perfumes. If I walk into a department store, I’m instantly gravitated towards perfumes and out comes my sniffing nose to sniff pretty much all the perfumes the store has to offer. I also think smelling good on a daily basis is important to your overall image so today, I’ll be talking about my current perfume collection – a little obsession that has overtaken make-up for the meantime and has turned my vanity into a little bottle house.

If you take two lipsticks and two different people, you’ll have four different looks, not two. Why? Because makeup looks different on different people.

Today, I’ve grabbed one of my best friends, Danielle, to show you what I mean. We decided well not really decided, it was sort of on a whim, like all the things we do, and we thought it would be cool to reach out of our comfort zones to try on different lipsticks. Although we are pretty similiar people except I think she’s more of a social butterfly than I am, you’ll notice that she’s a cooler tone and her lips are totally different from mine. Hey Everyone,

We’re all looking for that look we can wear everyday – to school, to a party or to work. It has to emphasize all the right curves, can’t look too over the top but still take a really short time to do up in the morning. So, here’s a look to solve your problemos. Little do we know that smudging your eye-liner creates a nice, sexy but sophisticated smokey eye that suits your everyday requirements. All you really need is a lighter shadow, a darker shadow, a great smudgeable liner and something to smudge it out like a q-tip or in this case a pencil brush. This is an idiot proof guide to doing your nails. That means that if you are a self-confessed make-up guru, then this really isn’t a post for you. Sometimes we forget that our audience includes a myriad of skill levels so just like my ultimate guides on YouTube, I decided to do Back to Basics on this blog.

Today’s Back to Basics covers nails. We all have our own methods of doing our nails, whether it be a different process, way or tool. We also have different preferences when it comes to getting our nails done – do we want them Square, pointed or round? Nonetheless, here is my way of doing my nails. I tend to like them square and painted. I feel weird —–> Read More

Hey Everyone,

I’m a person who loves wearing the same thing over and over again. I’ll wear my plaid blue forever 21 shirt with my denim shorts every sunday no matter what my mother says. So, when it comes to having a signature look, I’m probably known more for my brown smokey eyes. Smokey eyes always seem to make your eyes multitudes larger and it’s a look I like sporting during day or night.  in particular is a smokey brown that I achieve with probably one of my most loved products – the NARS Cordura Eyeshadow duo. In honour of this wonderful duo, I have done a tutorial on achieving my well “signature look”  - a look —–> Read More

Hey Everyone,

It’s that special time of year when you’re either calling bids that Valentine’s Day is just a marketing gimmick, lucky enough you have someone special to celebrate with or like me, crying your eyes out. Just kidding!  But seriously, Mr. Right better get on a segway soon, he seems to be walking and smelling the flowers at the same time.  Nevertheless, what’s a beautiful valentine night without looking your best for your significant other? Thus, here’s a look that I hope will make you the apple of his eyes. :)

Hey Everyone!

I hope you had a fabulous day today! I received a request from Princess Jae in the comments section of one of my past posts to do a tutorial on how I wing my eye-liner. I have to say before all else that practice makes perfect. It’s not going to be exactly the same for everyone either depending on your face shape but a general rule is that the liner should be angled towards the direction of where your eye-brow ends. I have two general ways of doing my eye-liner and to be honest, I do the first method on my right eye and the second method on my left eye. I find that’s the most comfortable way of doing —–> Read More

So tomorrow will be my fourth day of work and I must say I’m having a blast being an intern for an advertising firm! Dressing well is pretty important when meeting clients so here is a work-appropriate look that I’ve been doing every day.

When finding a work-appropriate look, you want to look for a look that not only suits you but isn’t too dark and dramatic. A neutral look that matches most outfits is perfect. In this post, you’ll also get a few product reviews of current products that I’m using in my everyday routine. Enjoy!

Contouring and applying that bronzer adds a certain warmth to your look while being able to slim down your features without the surgery, blush gives a healthy radiance while the highlight attracts a muted glow to the areas you want shining in the spotlight.

Here’s a really simple look that I think is day appropriate but will add a little dimension to your eyes. I’m using the Stila Marrakesh quad quite often these days and this is one of the looks you can make from them, might do another pinkier look as well later on. I’ve also been experimenting with just using my blending brush as my only eye tool and I really like how smoothly blended the look becomes with less pigmentation that I usually wear. According to your preference, you might want to opt for a dark brown liner as well if the black seems to bold.

Removing your makeup and cleaning your skin is essential once you start wearing cosmetics. Here is what I do every single night, regardless of the time. I make sure all makeup is removed, my skin is moisturized and my face prepped for dreamland. Good thing there aren’t any hot boys there. hah.

NOTE: this is for picture purposes. There’s a bit of liner in some of the photos when there shouldn’t be, but don’t fret, I removed everything after I took all the pictures, it was just faster for me this way :) Also, this is the way I do things, let me know how you roll too :)

This is the last post I’m doing in Singapore before I head back to Melbourne. It was awesome meeting people at the Physiogel bloggers party and Sarahand Pearlin at Nandos, hopefully I can meet more of you at the end of November!

Just like Sara, I was invited to try out a treatment at Healthtrends Clinic at Ngee Ann City. Out of the three options given to us in the email, I was ready to take on an Acne Scar Reduction not only because I had a few scars from a serious bout of acne at the beginning of the year but I think my asia-ness thought that the $1200 price-tag was an opportunity not to be missed.

Oh and a few days ago, Urban Decay sent me the following things :) that sparked me to do a review on the Urban Decay eyeshadows. I think though the best way to demonstrate eyeshadows was to do a tutorial and its up there :) Urban Decay Eyeshadows are so pigmented and highly blendable because they have minimal amounts of binders and fillers that equates to pigmented and vivid colors.
