Hey Everyone!
Today I’m going to do a review on a classic lipstick – the Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle. I’m an avid fan of Chanel’s Rouge Allure range so I was excited to try out the Rouge Coco range as they have been re-formulated! The Rouge Coco range is known for being a ready to wear and iconic lipstick that melts on your lips with vibrant and lasting color. Chanel sent me two shades – the classic Mademoiselle and red Gabrielle. I’ll be doing a giveaway on one of the lipsticks at the end of this post so stay tuned!
As mentioned, the formula of the Rouge Coco lipsticks are now revamped to be more comfortable and have a melt away texture. Using their Chanel Sensorial Analysis, Make-up Formulation and Physical Expertise laboratories, they have used physical, sensory and emotional characteristics to guide their new formulation. Amongst the 33 developed and 19 tested, 1 formula came out supreme to provide an amazing texture. With a specific wax, lips are now dressed in a softer veil that glides on and melts away. The butter in these lipsticks are also composed of three plant waxes (jojoba, mimosa and sunflower) that provides hydrating and protective properties to the lipstick. Last of all, a polymer film with silicone microbeads fills wrinkles and rough areas to decrease bleeding and feathering. It is truly an amazing formula and one that I have been very impressed with.
To that end, let’s put it on shall we? The above picture of me is my lips bare naked – no lip color or lipstick on it. When I apply it, the lipstick really does glide on very smoothly and the pigmentation is amazing. I was actually suprised at how creamy and luxurious it was when I first put it on. It is for sure not sheer at all but quite bold in the color it provides. Honestly, you can really immediately feel how rich and luxurious this lipstick is. If you have dry lips, this is a dream for you to wear. However, if you’re not a fan of the weight these kinds of lipsticks provide, you may want to opt for the Rouge Allure that has a lighter texture. To that end, it is for sure creamy and substantial.
I had the privilege to choose which color I wanted from the new Rouge Coco range and after much research, I picked both Mademoiselle and Gabrielle because these are the most classic lip colors from the Chanel range. Mademoiselle is a darker dusty rose that works perfectly as a natural lip color. I don’t like nude colors so this one being about 2 – 3 shades darker than my original color works amazingly well with my warmer skin tone I feel. You only need one swipe to produce the color you see below so again, these lipsticks are very pigmented in color.
Overall, I do honestly really love these lipsticks. In texture, they are very creamy and luxurious. In pigmentation, they don’t falter either producing great colour with one swipe of the bullet. However, they are substantial in weight and if you’re looking for something lighter to wear everyday without feeling anything, it might not be the best match for you and the Rouge Allure would be a better fit. If you have dry lips or want something iconic and classic, these are your best bet. I personally don’t mind the weight and over a few hours, it doesn’t feel heavy. I just really like how creamy and smooth they are.
