Hey Everyone!
Today I’m going to be doing a review on the Dior Addict Fluid Sticks. They’re a recent hit that I’ve been trying lately. These fluid sticks are basically liquid lipsticks or lip lacquers – a pigmented formula that is a mix between a gloss and a lipstick. Dior claims that this is a one-coat do it all hybrid lipstick with the hold of a classic lipstick and the shine of a gloss.
First of all, if you haven’t fallen in love with Dior packaging, you must be uber immune. I love Dior makeup. I love the packaging and I can’t hide the fact that whenever I’m using Dior, I just feel insanely happy. I don’t know why, it’s just beautiful. It’s the kind of make-up that makes me want to just hold it in my hand and stare at it for hours on end. Okay, maybe not hours but you know what I mean. That being said, the fluid sticks come in a gorgeous metal, mirror like packaging with the head of a lipstick and a boudoir handle. It’s amazingly gorgeous. The applicator is a curved doe foot with a scoop that helps to pick up the product and something that I do find easy to use.
The pigmentation is very good. On a scale of 1 to 10, you’re talking about a 9 or 10. True color is produced with one swipe of the product and you don’t have to do any layering which is great. It really does produce really vivid color which is amazing.
Now let’s talk about the most controversial part – are the Dior fluid sticks sticky? There have been very mixed reviews about these products – some say they are very sticky and some love how it’s super smooth. It’s quite controversial but I think I might have just cracked the code. Well, it could be a yes and no but to be totally honest with you, I really don’t think they are sticky but actually rather smooth. Now it depends. When I first tried them at the store, I didn’t really like them. I thought they were really heavy and a little sticky – partly because the BA didn’t apply it well on my lips. That’s the thing, you need to put just a little bit more on your lips to make it smoother. I think some of us are content with applying it as a tint but it’s sticky if you do that. You need to go all out when using these fluid sticks which means you have to put enough of the product to make it smooth. There can’t be an inbetween.
When applied, they feel as if there’s a cushiony barrier between my two lips. It really glides smoothly when applied and it is best to use a brush or the applicator in the tube, not your fingers. It’s not too heavy but I reckon it’s right on the border between something I could wear every day and something that I couldn’t. You can feel it on your lips basically but I for sure am not feeling any stickiness. It’s smoother than most lip glosses I’ve applied and my lips smack well together without it drying out. In terms of longevity, it’s pretty average. It does fade nicely but you will have to reapply throughout the day so make sure you bring it with you. I have four Dior Fluid sticks so here are swatches of the colors!
I love my bold lip colors but I have a feeling Mirage is one of my daily favourites when I don’t feel like I want to be super dramatic. Overall, they’re quite nice. They are gorgeous to look at and have amazing pigmentation but I think you should try it at the store first to see whether the texture is of your liking. It’s borderline a little heavy for me but still alright to be worn everyday.
What do you think of these?
Love,
Roseanne
