Hey Everyone!
I’m glad to say that my skin is finally getting better and better. That means I get to be more experimental with my skincare! I am truly a huge fan of Aveda products. Their Dry Remedy™shampoo has literally healed my hair after so much color and treatment damage and their hair products actually work. Even my boyfriend uses their products now on his hair! But hair isn’t the only thing that Aveda is known for, they have skincare ranges as well! In my last post, I visited the Aveda Experience Centre at Ngee Ann City for the Aroma Sensory Journey and Hairstyling Ritual where an Aveda daymaker chose the specific products that suited me best!
Similarly for skincare, I also did the Elemental Nature Skincare Consultation to find out the best skincare range for me. If you haven’t yet discovered, the Aveda Elemental Nature philosophy is rooted in Ayurveda and serves as a tool to deliver an in-depth consultation and customized skincare homecare regimen tailored to the individual needs of each guest. Ayurveda is an Indian healing tradition based on the knowledge of life and the interconnectedness of all things.
It is proven, over 5,000 years, that treating the whole person leads to greater well-being not only on hair or skin, but on body, mind and emotion. Elemental Nature upholds the Ayurvedic principle that all living things are comprised of infinity, air, fire, water and earth.
When one or more of these elements are out of balance, both physical concerns such as blemishes and dry skin, as well as emotional issues, such as nervousness or sadness, may occur. It’s an interesting story behind what Aveda believes in. To find out my element, I took this little game to pick out my trouble spots and to find my element. It is an interesting, unique and holistic experience.
The consultation explores your skin condition, then asks your top skin care concerns, explores your certain body type and also looks at your lifestyle. From these, they can pinpoint the elemental nature that is out of balance. This is done through the game you see below! It was a great and unique experience. The range I received was the Tourmaline Charged Radiant Skin Refiner! My skin is dull and tired because of stress so I needed this to recharge my complexion. They also suggested I use the Outer Peace cooling masque that helps to aid my acne and cool down any redness I have. Thankfully, my acne has very much gone down. I have been using these products for a while and I really love how soft my skin feels. Here’s a little review!
To cleanse, I use the Aveda Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser. It’s said to help increase cell turnover to reveal radiance. It has jojoba exfoliating beads and it conditions skin with mango butter.
On the skin, it has a creamy texture but it also has plenty of exfoliating beads to scrub away impurities. My skin feels super clean after using this and I’m glad the beads aren’t too harsh. I’ve heard exfoliating cleansers to be good for you even if you think it may be too harsh on a daily basis. They help to unclog pores and slough away dead skin cells and if it says daily – usually the level of exfoliation is alright for it to be used everyday.
About two or three times a week, I use the Aveda Tourmaline Charged Radiant Skin Refiner! Now this is an exfoliant. It’s an amazing product actually and one of the best exfoliators I’ve tried yet. This is a creamy and clay based scrub that exfoliates with bamboo extract and energizes with tourmaline! It is alsoa botanical alternative to micro-dermabrasion.
Out of the tube, it is super super creamy and white. That’s probably because of the clay. The level of exfoliation you will get from this is medium to high.
I usually spread it on various parts of my face before doing the scrub down. I love this because my skin feels super super soft after using this – like a baby’s bottom! I reckon you should use it once or twice a week though because it can be “extremely effective”. Can you see my skin already becoming instantly brighter?
About once a week or if I’m feeling like I need a mask, I’ll use the Aveda Outer Peace Cooling Masque! It is a weekly special treatment that soothes and calms the skin so it looks less red and irritated. The masque is also a blend of pure plant extracts like boswellia, tamanu and amla that infuse into a single plant formula. The aroma that you get from the masque (happens to be uber relaxing) is actually certified organic lemon tea tree and rose geranium.
The mask is less thick than it looks. It’s more of a light lotion feel rather than a heavy paste like most green masks are. It’s more on the liquid side basically so I tend to put just a little bit more to cover up. Apply a thick layer to the face and wait 5-10 minutes. Then rinse with water to remove!
You have no idea how soft my skin is feeling right now. I do think that it does calm down redness well. Just look how my skin is getting better and better! My skin feels super soft and supple.
Then to top it off, I use the Aveda Tourmaline Charged Radiance Fluid! It is a concentrated refining serum that contains naturally energising mineral Tourmaline and potent antioxidants. This serum claims to jump start a healthy glow and smooth away dull skin! In a test, participants saw up to 35% increase in smoothness, 36% reduction in the appearance of pores, and 31% reduction in the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
I love how this serum is not sticky at all! It’s like a liquid and spreads and absorbs very easily. You can even put it on before your make-up and it instantly gets absorbed into your skin without leaving any residue.
I put this on every night and when I wake up, my skin looks a lot healthier!
Overall, I’m as impressed with the skincare products from Aveda as I am with their hair products. I was skeptical at first because I always saw Aveda as a haircare brand. But now, the tables have turned! You must try Aveda and I hope you love it as much as I do. Because I really want you to try it, visit the Aveda Experience Centre at Ngee Ann City and mention my name “Roseanne” to get a customized sample-size skincare trial kit after your Elemental Nature Skincare Consultation (free of charge) at Aveda Experience Centre, Ngee Ann City #B1-32A!
