Hey Everyone!
I’m in London! I’ve actually been in London for the past week and will be here for the rest of the month! It’s been a good year and a half since my last time here and to be honest right now, I really don’t want this holiday to end! Anyway, follow me on instagram @roseannetangrs for all my London adventures! I will probably be uploading a travel vlog soon! One thing I cannot resist is buying make-up here. I really can’t help myself and I always leave with at least something whenever I visit a Boots or Superdrug (which you would think is extremely dangerous for my wallet)! Sleek, BarryM, Rimmel and cooler Maybelline and L’Oreal products are all readily available here so here’s my haul (so far). I’m sure I will be getting more as the week goes by!
The first is Sleek’s Blush by 3 featuring three blushes in one nifty blush palette. These are great because blush palettes are often really hard to find. I have a good number of pinks in my collection so I got the peach version called Lace. It’s gorgeous featuring a standard matte peach orange, a shimmery NARS orgasm dupe and a red orange that would be good for my dark skinned clients.
Here are some swatches. They are great in terms of pigmentation and Sleek blushes do blend in really nicely onto the skin! I’m really happy with this one. I also have another one that has blush, highlight and contour in one as well and I love that because it’s so convenient.
I love high-end make-up but when I’m travelling, I know that I can pretty much get the same products in Singapore so I tend to look for stuff that’s special. We obviously have Dior in Singapore but I don’t recall having this – the Dior Airflash Spray On Foundation. I first heard of this as basically an airbrush in a can and I’m very intrigued by such a mechanism because there aren’t any spray on foundations released yet. I don’t think you can get this in Singapore yet so when I saw it at Selfridges in London, I was so excited!
I sprayed it on the back of my hand and the spray is actually super fine. The foundation comes out as a super fine mist that is just like an airbrush (or at least quite close to it). I studied airbrushing when I was in makeup school in London and it just reminded me of those days. The sales assistant showed me that you can spray and blend with fingers or you can spray on a brush and apply.
The product as expected is quite watery and liquid like but when blended, it can cover. I think that the coverage is very buildable though which is good because I need the coverage at this moment in my life.
I also bought the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Laquers! I heard about this from my youtuber friends and I read a few blog posts on these. Rimmel is no longer in Singapore so I quickly grabbed the chance to get these. They’re super high pigmented and smooth and are borderline OCC lip tar.
I bought Apocaliptic (a really vivid fuchsia hot pink) and Stellar (a neon orange pink). They have natural colors too like pastel peach, nude and natural but I wanted to get something bolder. I like bolder lip colors on myself more to be honest. They are super smooth on the lips and very loud. To tone it down, I will probably dab the product on my finger first and apply it as a stain or if I’m feeling it, I’ll probably apply it straight from the tube!
I love foundation. I have a weakness for it and if you have been following me for a long time, you probably would know that I love reviewing drugstore foundations too. Eventhough this is Maybelline (which you can get in Singapore) – they have totally different product ranges that I really miss having been in Australia for 3 years. Australia and UK ranges as well as the U.S are basically the same but the Maybelline in Singapore is totally different offering bb products more. It’s a little frustrating since the western range is so much better! For example, they have the Maybelline Superstay – such a good foundation. I’ve never tried this one though – the Superstay Better Skin so I quickly grabbed it.
It’s supposed to give you better skin – no more dull spots, blotchy skin and spots. Sounds good to me. I wore it today and I liked it. It’s light feeling but offers less coverage than the original Superstay. I can’t say much on the skin effects yet though.
Then I also added to my basket the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid. I haven’t tried Satin liquid yet and have tried the majority if not all the Dream products from Maybelline. I like them and you can get them in Singapore now ( just a few) but not the Satin. I’m looking forward to trying this out.
It gives you a poreless, flawless base (it claims) – but I find it funny because that is what all the dream products are supposed to do anyway.
Last of all is a new nail polish! I don’t like gel nails simply because they really do wreck your nails when you try to take them off and I change nail color frequently. I love painting my nails and do so every 2 or 3 days so I can’t imagine taking off gel nails each time. However, I do like that jelly finish. I spotted the BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine Nail paints and immediately wanted to try them out! I’m wearing it now and I like how it dries quickly and it does look like I’m wearing gel nail polish. Not bad! It’s just that they have a pretty limited color range to be honest.
I just love being here in London. There’s just always something to do! I’m staying at my sister’s house and Jacob is here too! We’ve been cooking loads and I just feel so free. Beauty scene here is cool too with make-up being so affordable. I know that I have to convert everything to SGD which is a bit painful, but if I was earning pounds, life would be amazing. Makeup can go from 3 to 7 pounds at drugstores and even my Dior foundation was just 33 pounds. It’s cold too!
Will update you soon!
