How To Make a LUSH Love Lettuce Face Mask!

Hey Everyone!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have been a long time fan of LUSH fresh face masks. I remember in Uni, I used to buy one a week and my favourites were probably brazened honey, love lettuce and catastrophe cosmetic! LUSH Singapore invited me down for a special event to see how one of their fresh face masks were made and I have to say, it’s exciting stuff! LUSH fresh face masks are made of natural ingredients and actually have to be stored in the fridge! I didn’t know how natural they were until I saw how they were made! So let’s begin!

Here are all the ingredients that go into a LUSH Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask!  It’s a mixture of almond, chlorophyll, kaolin clay. The LUSH love lettuce is supposed to help…

“Brighten up your complexion with this gently exfoliating fresh face mask, with Fullers earth to remove dirt and oil and glycerine to soften the skin. We use nutrient-rich agar seaweed gel, honey and almond oil to soothe and moisturise your skin, whilst almond shells are gentle enough to exfoliate without being too abrasive. This mask is simply fragranced with French lavender, which has a calming effect on the mind and helps to balance the skin’s sebum production.”

LUSH face masks are also made fresh everyday and can be stored for three weeks. This one in particular acts also as a scrub in addition to a mask which is really good for weekly exfoliation. The agar seaweed part actually comes in the form of a chlorophyll agar agar jelly. They first blend this all up into a green mush so that they can easily blend it with other ingredients.

Then, almond oil is added to the jelly. Almond oil has a lot of healing properties and is almonds are a key ingredient in this mask.

Then, glycerin is added.

As well as honey!

Now for the dry ingredients! They add Fullers Earth first. What’s Fullers Earth? “Textile workers, or fullers as they were once called, would clean raw wool by kneading it in a mixture of water and fine earth. The ‘earth’ consisted of a number of clays. This process cleaned the fibres by absorbing dirt, oil and other contaminants.” So basically it is clay that can absorb contaminants.

Ground almond is added…

and then ground almond shells that will help you exfoliate!

After that, Kaolin clay is added into the mix so that it can help absorb oil and impurities from the skin!

Then all of it is mixed and blended together and you’re finished!

Lush staff usually weight it all out and put it in the black containers which you buy from the store!
