Hey Everyone!
When I first came over to London, I was excited to see pretty much two brands – Barry M and SLEEK. Sleek has always been written about in blogs, talked about on YouTube and after getting a Sleek Acid palette online a year ago, I couldn’t help myself to a few Sleek products here. Plus, there was a Superdrug deal (the local health & beauty store) on all beauty items going for 3 for 2 (buy 2 get 1 free) which made these originally £7.99 palettes only about £5 each (about 10 sing dollars). How great right!!
Sleek make-up is actually the drugstore line of NARS, one of my favourite high end brands and it’s really to no surprise. I’ve been really impressed with the quality of these products. They pride themselves in trying to cater to all skin tones and aim to be fresh, trendy and iconic in the eyes of both you and me and make-up artists. But enough talk, let’s get started!
1. Sleek i-Divine Original Palette
When you look at a Sleek counter at the store, you will see probably six or seven varieties of the Sleek i-Divine palette range which I think is pure awesomeness. I love how they’re like the only drugstore brand that stocks larger palettes. Most of the high street brands usually only have palettes of 3 or 2 shades which isn’t useful if you want to do make-up as a job. The Sleek i-Divine Original Palette boasts twelve shades of super pigmented shadow. I chose this one because it has a good range of non neutral colors like blue and green but also more feminine colours like pinks and coppers. There’s sort of a great range of things you can do with this palette!
I find Sleek eyeshadows and all the eyeshadows to be really quite pigmented, creamy and blendable which is really handy with so many colors. The shadows have quite a good reflex on them as well and with a primer, they are really quite good.
2. Sleek i-Divine Primer Palette
The next thing I got was the Sleek Primer Palette. This is a palette that consists of 12 shades of primers but most of the darker colours can actually act as cream shadows. The palette calls you to actually apply these as primers with shadows on top to boost the colours and not really as cream shadows so you have to keep this in mind when you swatch some of the lighter colors! I really do love this palette and it does the job great for enhancing eye-shadows. I’ve only recently learnt that this is so important to getting that super pigmented look.
3. Sleek i-Divine Storm Palette
The last one I’ll talk about is my favourite. There’s another neutral Sleek palette called the Au Natural but I think if you were to get a neutral palette from Sleek, you should get this one. I mean, how many shades of matte brown do you need? This one gives you exactly what you need with room for more. It’s kind of like an expanded Wet N’Wild comfort zone palette.
Not only does it have golds, creams, and pinks. The matte cream and matte brown will be your go to colors for bridal or beauty shots. Then, you have a smokey eye palette right in there too including the dark green and shimmery and not to mention beautiful indigo blue. Plus, a matte black, copper, and dark brown. It’s like everything you need to go from a day look to a night look. It’s perfect.
Other than that, I also picked up a corrector and concealer palette and my first creme to powder foundation from Sleek. As you can see, they are far from my original skin tone color. Last Saturday was my first sort of “work for free” job doing the make-up for the auditions of a modelling competition. There were only four of us make-up artists and more than 30 models to do, it was like a conveyer belt of models – six hours straight – but I have nothing to complain about because I loved every minute of it. Anyway, what I’ve also realised is that as a make-up artist, you’ll have to get colours that aren’t your shade now but you can still be smart about it. Feel free to mix and match colors to get your exact shade. Plus, I can use the darker color as a cream bronzer too. I love the coverage and texture of both of these products. What can I say? I’m impressed.
So therefore, I decided to do a Sleek giveaway! A lot of you have asked me where you can get Sleek because you’re not here in London after posting a few pictures of my loot on Instagram.
