Hey Everyone!
I’ve always been a Lush friendly fan. I’ve soaped up with most of their soaps, slathered on most of their masks and what can I say, I just love their whole concept. So when I was walking along back in Melbourne, I spotted that they now have their own make-up line. LUSH previously had skin tints, much like tinted moisturisers but I didn’t get too excited because of their limited color ranges. Now that they have their own colors, I thought why not?
When you walk into the store, you’re probably confused. Most of the pigments are hidden in a color wheel, what you see above. You twirl it around, don’t get it and leave. That’s what I did the first time anyway until the second time a LUSH SA wanted to give me a color reading with the color wheel. I thought why not? He told me to simply close my eyes and imagine a white room. After he gave the wheel a twirl, I was to open my eyes and point out the first three colors that I think would splash on those white walls. Simple as I usually am, I just went for the first three colors – the bright pink, the brighter pink and a bright green. What do you know right? Anyway, each of the colors represent a state of mind or emotion. Those colors translated to the fact that I’m passionate, I just need to believe and trust my intuition. To be honest, it’s pretty accurate, not bad at all. I didn’t end up purchasing those colors because I don’t like wasting make-up and want make-up that I can wear everyday.
The sales assistant then clarified to me that these aren’t “just” make-up products, they’re states of mind. They’re not selling a blush, lipstick, or gel liner. They’re selling a state of mind. I don’t really get it honestly but if it floats your boat, it’s fine with me. They’re cool because they are multi-purpose make-up products meaning that it’s not classified as a lipstick but more so a coloured liquid pigment that you can use for everything – eye-shadow, blush, liner or lipstick.
The packaging is cute. It comes in a little eye-drop vial that makes it all the more “fresh outta the lab”. The liquid lipsticks come with their own doe foot applicator and the gel liners, a liner applicator. They seriously have to screw on the applicators a little better, mine was a little wobbly making it hard to apply. Overall, I’d rather different types of bottles so I don’t confuse the liquid lipsticks from the liquid liners, but not too many complaints in this department.
Bubbly is such a beautfiul shimmery peach with a gold and blue undertone. It looks like a nail polish in the bottle but really brightens your smile. I picked this one because it’s super wearable and I don’t have enough peachy lip colors I reckon. Did you know that a little blue shimmery on your lips make your teeth whiter? That’s right. It’s a very thin feeling texture, sort of like you’re applying a slightly grainier lip tint without the danger of staining too much. Not a solid feeling make-up product.
Here, I applied it on my lips and cheeks. I love the color on both parts of my face and it’s so natural and glowy looking. What I didn’t like was that the blush travelled to the rest of my cheeks and wouldn’t stay put in humid weather. So if you live in a place like singapore, it’s best to keep your colors to your lips. I haven’t tried it for my eyes yet. The pigment is quite well pigmented, so don’t go overboard especially in the blush department. Perhaps one touch is enough but feel free to apply liberally on lips. It didn’t keep moist as the day went on so if you’re looking for a more moisturising lipstick, look elsewhere. It feels much like a “creamy at first” int if anything.
So there you have it, have you tried LUSH’s emotional brilliance line? What do you think?
