Hey Everyone,
This could be the most disgusting post that I’ve ever made. That’s because it showcases my two zits. I know, that’s gross Roseanne but trust me, it’s totally relevant to this review. Today I’ll be reviewing a much talked about acne treatment – it’s the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. In this review, I’ll be taking to new freshly baked zits and I’ll be applying them for two nights. Any longer than that anyway you’d think the medication wasn’t very affective I reckon right? My sincere apologies in advance for the images to come.
What does the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion do?
It’s supposed to be a pimple shrinker and a fast, overnight one at that. The Mario Badescu claims that these two layered little bottle is supposed to:
1. Fast
2. Effective
3. “will Shrink ugly whiteheads virtually overnight while you sleep”
INGREDIENTS: Isopropyl Alcohol,Deionized Water (Aqua), Calamine, Camphor, Colloidal Sulfur, Salicylic Acid,Glycerine, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Talc

Again, we’ll see if those claims hold. Let’s go!
Here are the evil villains of the day. Look at them peeking out like nobody’s business. They’re inflamed, angry and have little whiteheads pearing out!
Unlike most topical treatments, the way you would apply this is to dip a cotton bud into the fluid. Make sure the two layers are seperated, you’re supposed to dip through the alcohol into the calamine solution and then bring it slowly up. Do not mix the two laters, again, they need to be seperated.
Once you take it out, you basically have the ammo. Time to shoot some bad boys down.
Just dab the lotion onto the pimples. Then, go to bed. The sensation is tingly and it will sort of hurt like you brazed yourself and you’re putting a bit of dettol on it to clean it up for just a little bit. It feels sort of nice because you know you’re not wasting your money on a dormant product. You will feel something and according to your pain tolerance, it might be bearable or unbearable. For me, with the many threading sessions I attend, this is nothing. I prefer my acne treatments to “hurt” anyway.
Overnight, there were defintely results. You can see the lower zit is much smaller, less inflamed and the whitehead is larger. The whitehead is larger on the large pimple as well. I reckon it did not totally take the zits away but it did do something.
2nd Night. On it goes again.
Wow. After the second night, the whiteheads are gone and they appear much smaller. Again, they’re not totally gone just yet.
As you can see, they are much flatter after the 2nd night.
So, did it work?
Yes, it obviously did work. I wouldn’t say it was very fast but it was effective. I didn’t go beyond two nights because three nights would be considered average so I just wanted to see if it was fast. It was relatively fast but the lotion didn’t take care of the redness and it has very drying properties – that’s exactly how the lotion shrinks the pimple so putting makeup in the morning might be a pain because of the flaky skin. That’s my bad though.
Overall:
1. Fast?
Relatively. Two nights flattened, not redness gone though. It will also leave an acne scar as all pimples sort of do. It’s their little foot print.
2. Effective?
Yes. It works. As you can see.
3. “will Shrink ugly whiteheads virtually overnight while you sleep”?
I thought the whiteheads became larger right? It shrunk the pimple overnight. Yes.
So overall, this is a good acne medication I reckon! It did shrink my zits but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly fast. It also is not good for large patches of acne because I’ve tried that before and it wasn’t as effective as slathering my proactive repairing lotion on patches like those. For spot treatments for one or two zits, this is the way to go.
Hope you liked my review!
Have you tried the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion? What do you think?
Love,
Roseanne
