Blog: Goodbye Singapore for now

Hey Everyone!

Alright I’m not specifically going to post anything today about beauty but I am leaving for another semester of college in Melbourne. Oh, college. The joys of a slightly gloomy city, students scuffling around uni trying to get assignments done and sometimes a much too solemn ambience when it comes to exam time. Something to dearly look forward to, not. The fact that I’m awake at 7 AM means that I’m nervous and slightly borderline denial that I have to leave today. It’s always sort of heartbreaking.

But I realize that every time I do come back to Singapore, something wonderful happens in my so called blogging career and looking back on these three months, I have to say that a lot did happen.

I managed to write an e-book that hasn’t been published yet outlining my progression as a nobody into nearly a somebody and how I did it with Koobits, an online publishing company specialising in interactive ebooks. It will be interesting to see how that turns out. I have recently signed on with a manager/agent but I will see how that goes before I make any judgements. They basically help me get advertisers to advertise on the sides of my blog. Those saturday meetings on Twitter were with him. Don’t worry, I won’t let any advertisers touch my content. My content is precious. I scaled factories and stores to find components for a future product, brush holders – but I’ve decided to set it aside until I’m done with Uni. I won $1000 worth of MAC (yeah, I’m still not over it) and now I’m able to give it all away to you which makes me even more happy. I also welcome some new sponsors of roseannebeauty.com including The Body Shop, Cosme-De (thanks for the Bobbi Brown), Kate, Kanebo and give warm hugs to those who came back this holiday including Elizabeth Arden, Touche Elite and The Beauty Club. It’s also taught me to be more selective as  blogger who I choose to work with. I can’t work with everyone nowadays because of the number of requests and those who really stand out, for all the companies out there, are those companies who are personal and know that we are people, not review generating machines. That as well as the fact that we are talking to people and not just large numbers. Sometimes in a rush for money and profit, perhaps they forget.

I also got to meet some of you – Angeline (who is absolutely stunning, winner of the 4000 subscriber contest), Eliza (mybeautyjunkie ;)) and of course my lovely blogger ladies – Sara (icyabstract), Sarah C. (facesbysarah), Clara (dblchin), Pearlin (reviewantiaging), Joyce (atelierbeauty) and Renee (Beautyfool).  But besides filling my weekends with taking pictures of myself in weird angles for the posts during the week, I’m happy to have the majority of you on my Facebook Page. I absolutely loved talking to you – where you’re from, to how you feel about certain things – I hope that we can be friends on there as well. I think I emphasise the page as so important because I feel that it’s so easy to connect with you on Facebook and talk to you on there. You can ask me questions or write your concerns and people can add to your answer. Whereas on twitter, you’re only limited to 140 words but I still do reply to every single comment. I think it’s important. I mean I know that when I ask a question somewhere, I know that I would like a reply and perhaps that’s why. I really put myself into your shoes. I think it’s also important not to get lost in all this.

On a more personal sort of life note – I completed a 2 month internship at GroupM (google it :)), working in the Social Media Department. Shout out to my dear co-workers: Chinno, Linda, Squid, Ross, Sheila, Kok Leong, Migs, Simon, Eva! Working with you was like working with a family for the past 2 months. I will very much miss you as well as our eating culture and we shall What’s App! I also really want the iPhone5 – when it comes out! I went to Penang and Borobudur even though my London and Paris trip was cancelled because of the jam at Heathrow and snow.

So yes, it was a very fulfilling 3 month holiday. I got my fare share out of Cedele, my favourite place to makan. I love their sandwiches and desserts and I hung out at Coffee Bean probably even more times, drinking a Pure chocolate and surfing the net on my iPad.

It was absolutely wonderful. So, although I’ll have to endure whatever awaits me when I arrive in Melbourne, I’ll very much look forward to coming back to see all of you and to forsee what could possibly happen over a holiday again.

Goodbye! “l’ll be back” in Arnold Swazzenegger voice. Cheesy.

See you in Melbourne!

Love,

Roseanne
