Hey Everyone,

I’ve been sporting red lips like nobody’s business – just like or so it seems – the rest of the world. When I walk around Orchard road, I’m seeing more people with red lips than ever before so today, I decided to do my guide to getting those perfect red lips. I love red lips because they just stand out from the crowd. They’re able to make your entire look come alive and turn tired faces into energetic ones even though we might be faking it. For this post, I’ve chosen a few of my favourite tips and my favourite red lipsticks (with lip swatches too!) to show you.

It’s probably something that most of us forget but no make-up look is complete without perfect eye-brows! It’s so important because it frames your face and when done properly, can make you look skinnier, more symmetrical and just overall gorgeous. I’ve been absolutely a big fan of the new Benefit Gimmie Brow Brush-on fibre gel which is like an all in one. It defines your brows and actually comes in 2 shades, and because it’s a gel – it will keep your hairs in place too.

I also love how it’s so portable. It comes in this little tiny tube that I can bring on the go whenever my brows need a touch-up – especially when I have them plucked or threaded and the therapist removes all my brow makeup. I usually use a brow powder and another angled brush to draw my brows and fill them in. I love how this is an all in one though and it takes one step to get really nice looking results. I was a bit hesitant at how dark it was going to be though. These are my bare brows. I went to this random threading place in the neighbourhood who was like five bucks and yep, I think they kind of messed up so know it’s not  my fault ;P. I’m still comforting myself that it will grow back. In the meantime, I just have to add a little more makeup.

When you’re first starting out with make-up, I know how hard it is to jump from using a make-up sponge to getting a brush to call your own. You’re not sure if you should but it looks like everyone around you has loads of make-up brushes and you’re not sure what the difference is between using a sponge vs a brush. Not to fret though, here’s my guide on the four ways I usually apply my foundation and the pros and cons of using sponges vs. brushes.

1. Streak and Blend

I know, you’re probably thinking – Roseanne, streaking? I thought you’re supposed to do the opposite of that! Well, you are except this time we’re blending all the streaks out with a sponge later. I do this with almost all my clients. It creates the most natural finish with great coverage. It doesn’t look cakey because you’re essentially controlling the amount of foundation you apply. Simply use a concealer brush to apply the foundation in streaks onto the face, spaced out of course. Then, take a wedge sponge and blend the foundation so that everything becomes flawless. This is great for people with already really good skin but want to look just a little bit more flawless. I do this with fashion models because they’re usually like 16 years old and still have what I call “baby skin”.

There are so many crazy make-up trends happening these days – from lip tattoos to furry and claw shaped nails! Ombre lips have been in for a while now and I just love how it looks like absolute art on the lips. They’re not something I would wear out on a daily basis, but it was a monday afternoon off so I decided to play with my lipsticks. The essence of an ombre lip is just playing with light and dark shades to create shadows or highlight. Blending is also key so that the colors just melt into one another! I decided to do three looks to show you today. The first is in of course my all time favourite color – hot pink! Ombre can be interpreted differently. We just need to go from dark to light or light to dark somehow. I really like doing ombre lips like this because it makes my lips ten times fuller and gives you that glossy magazine effect! I didn’t photoshop my lips at all mind you!

I can’t believe the summer is already over and now we’re approaching fall and autumn. Here in Singapore, we might not be able to pack on our chilly weather clothes, but we sure can have fun changing our make-up. I’ve had a lot of requests lately on doing “one-brand” make-up tutorials. I can’t think of a brand that exudes fall and autumn more than Anna Sui. I love how all their products smell like rose and the packaging is always a plus!

For the make-up tutorial, I’ve decided to do a purple x orange mix. It’s a weird mix but it reminds me of the many colours Autumn leaves have. It’s not too over the top at all and great for a dinner out or a special event.

Here’s the scene. It’s 6 am in the morning and you have a hot date tonight after work. You’re not sure if the smokey eye you wanna wear for tonight is “work-appropriate” so you’re scrambling to gather your make-up in a bag so you can somehow transform your day look into more sultry make-up sure to impress your date. Do you take everything off after work and start over? Well Girls, I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to. Here’s how you can transform your day make-up into night look. Truth be told,  I love make-up that has many uses and that’s probably why I love using eye-shadow palettes so much more than single shadows. Even better, one that has shadows for day and night so you can carry it around.
