Happy Valentines Day! Don’t you hate it when your nail polish top gets stuck and you can’t open your favourite bottle anymore? I know I do. It happens all the time and that’s because nail polish gets on the sides and when it dries, it basically glues the top to the bottle. No matter how hard you try to open it, it usually won’t budge. I recently got my nails done but had to touch up a bit on an area that accidentally chipped off and the exact polish I needed had this problem. Thankfully, I looked online and discovered the hot water method and decided to see if it worked!

I hope you’re having a great weekend! With the new year, I think now is a great time to spring clean our makeup collection. This keeps our expired make-up in the bin and totally room ready for whatever is on our make-up wishlist! Besides getting our bins ready here are a few of my tips to keeping your collections tidy.

1. Sort out your make-up

When it’s time to take my collection for a little clean through, I begin sorting my make-up. I have one pile for blushes, foundations, lipsticks etc and the last pile will be for make-up I can’t use anymore. It’s sort of like when Sarah Jessica Parker sorts out her clothes when she needs to move in Sex and the City. This sorting process will help tell you what you have, don’t have and even… what you’re missing ( I still can’t find my Naked2 palette :/ ). Once you have sorted everything out, why not grab a couple of organisers and put them in your drawers. I use drawer organisers from Ikea and they work fine. You can even go eco-friendly and diy it using egg cartons and painting over old cereal boxes.

You totally need to watch the video and I seriously can’t agree enough. I’ve never really talked about my weight and to be honest, I’ve never been the skinny girl or the girl with perfect legs and arms. I’m kind of the odd one out especially here in Singapore where I feel most of the population is stunningly skinny and the newspapers are full of London Weight Management ads and slimming centres. I’ve tried this diet, that exercise but for some reason I just end up figuring myself out and asking what in the world am I trying to do. I can’t count the number of times where someone has said “Roseanne, you’re beautiful but if you lost x amount of weight, you would look like a supermodel.” AND “Roseanne, you’re beautiful, but too bad you’re fat.” Trust me, I’ve had it countless number of times, even from my loved ones. I remember never being alright with my weight and worse still, the comments people made about me or the looks they gave me didn’t help either.

Shopping online for make-up can be a lot easier than you think and there are actually many online stores that sell make-up and beauty products with international shipping. I used to shop online for make-up tons when I was in Uni – it was the perfect way to de-stress and the cheaper prices online compared to counter prices didn’t help either. I think that  when it comes shopping for make-up online, you don’t have to worry about whether it ‘fits’ – the main concern is whether the product is ship-able (perfumes and some liquids like nail polishes are sometimes not allowed to be shipped internationally by the seller) AND even if the product is authentic or genuine. With so many things being copied these days, make-up is really no exception. There’s fake M.A.C, Bobbi Brown and other well known brands everywhere on the net and you really do have to be careful because you don’t know what these fake products might have inside them. You are putting these products on your face after all! That’s why I tend to avoid buying make-up on Ebay because you really never know what you might get. Instead, these are my current 3 favourite online stores to shop for make-up online that provide international shipping so it doesn’t matter where you live!

So the color of the year 2014 happens to be Radiant Orchid – a fuschia looking purple – according to Pantone. I like the color purple but it’s not something that I wear everyday or think about sporting when it comes to make-up. You would be suprised though that purple does suit most skintones. Although radiant orchid isn’t the typical shade of purple, people’s opinion of the color varies – it could be a lilac, to a fuschia to even a lavender. I thought to myself – what would be uber helpful and I thought a little guide to incorporating this new color of 2014 would be best whether it’s your outfit, makeup and even your nails! Here ya go!

When I first heard of cleansing oil – I thought it was the most ridiculous thing ever. I get oily fast and blotting sheets are like my best friends, so the idea of putting even more oil on my face was way out of the question. I always thought it would clog my pores even more and lead to a crazy amount of breakouts. Lately though, actually make that a few months now, I’ve been using a cleansing oil to take off my make-up before cleansing again with my normal cleanser and I have found it to be one of the best inventions ever. It is definitely something not to be intimidated by and I see now that it can help your skin in the long run.
