Hello Roseanne, Am a dark skinned woman, most suncreams cause my skin to break out. Recently, i was researching on the internet and came across a suncream called Heliocare ultra- gel (SPF 50+) Its quite pricey .I have being using it for a week, it had good reviews but am still not sure about it yet as it leave little residue but less chalky white face. i wish i can get a suncream which cater for dark skinned women without the chalky bits.

This is a great post. I really regret not wearing sunscreen more regularly when I was younger because now I have all these sunspots on my face. I really like Shiseido’s sunscreen for daily use because it works great underneath my makeup. I probably overdo it with the SPF though, because almost all of my face products also have spf in it too :P

But i put it over my moisturiser so i guess i’ll be skipping moisturiser now haha.

The Leaders Clinic Medieu Sensitive Sun Cream sounds really good! I must try it sometime. Have been using my Avene sunblock for a long time under my dermatologist’s recommendation. So far so good.

That’s what the sales assistant at MYER Kit cosmetics advised me when I asked why did they tape over the label SPF20 off a Cosmedicine medi-matte lotion (USA product). Glad to share for any confused Australian shoppers out there :)

Yes Tammy Girl it is! If you can see your hand in front of your face, that means there’s light from the sun and and any light whatsoever will contain those UVA and UVB rays that could damage your skin :)

Oh Roseanne, I must admit- I’m bad. I rearely remember to SPF on. But after reading this post, I’m going to try and make it part of my daily makeup routine…I do have one question though- I’m sure if I maybe missed it in the post but, is it necessary to apply in the winter?

The problem is USA SPF is not the same as AUSTRALIAN SPF. The Australian council usually check the product offering any Sunscreen rpotection and in the meantime ask the retailer to scrape/hide the spf factor to not mislead australian customers until their final review. Which is why you won’t find some Clinique foundation like Superfit foundation stating no SPF whatsoever on packaging but if you see titanium dioxide/zinc oxide among ingredients, it will still create white cast in flash photography. Even for MAC studio Finish concealer when it was still available in Australia, they didn’t display in Myer or Australian M.A.C website the term ‘SPF 35″ as displayed on USA website.
