So here I am stuck in bed, feeling a bit unwell. I decided to finally check off my first attempt at any kind of nail art and hey, I’m actually pretty proud of myself! I decided to do soft pastel roses. Well, it turned out that way anyway. Truth be told, I kinda wanted to do something geometric until I put a giant blob on my thumb nail and decided that it was more round than square. I guess magic things happen when you make mistakes.

I’m not good at using toothpicks, so instead I rummaged for an “in-package” brush. I took this one out of my bobbi brown palette since I end up losing or throwing them away anyway. It was a good find since it’s a synthetic and a seriously flat paddle brush which was perfect. I used three colors – a pastel pink or China Glaze “Something Sweet”, a pastel purple like Kit Cosmetics “Free Fall” and a mint green like Essie “Turquoise & Caicos”.

I got a manicure the day before at Far East with totally white nails which kind of was the perfect back drop to doing my DIY pastel roses. I know, you’re probably saying – oh my gosh Roseanne, what if you make a mistake and waste your manicure? Well, I kinda got this manicure only because I wanted to soak off my previously gelish nail polish and we should all be experimental sometimes. White nails are the bomb though, so sleek and clean looking just on its own.

First step is to take your paddle brush and get some purple paint to it. Using pink and purple is going to give your roses dimension and mimic the natural shadows that the overlapping petals have. Just use your brush to dab it on lightly. Don’t need to be perfect and it’s good if it’s not a thick layer too.

Then, use the other side of the brush and get some of the pink nail polish and dab that just slightly out of the purple, not completely overlapping it. I’m using the same brush because I kind of don’t want to ruin another!

Of course all flowers have leaves so take some mint green nail polish onto the edge of your brush and then press the leaves in using the tip of the brush. Apply it like the leaves are just embracing the flowers – two to each flower at an angle.

Beauty could be much like studying medicine. It’s an ever-evolving field with beauty technology and innovations popping up like nobody’s business. It’s hard to keep up with the times so I go to events quite often to learn more about the latest launches. Thought I might share them with you right here so that you can keep up to date too. Although I attend many events, I do have favourites in which I’ve learnt a lot. Here’s two of them!

Creme De La Mer has always been that jar I’ve always wanted to try. It’s a premium product and La Mer is probably one of the most expensive counters at the department store. I mean, you’re looking at hundreds of dollars per item. Creme De La Mer is the most famous of the entire line.

The moisturising cream was created by La Mer’s founder, Max Huber who was a NASA scientist. A freak science accident left him with so many scars, he spent years trying to create a solution. After taking kelp from the sea, he made a miracle broth after months of brewing that you know as the key to La Mer’s success today. It’s all in the secret process. La Mer has always been one with the environment with all harvesting practices deemed eco-friendly. In accordance to World’s Ocean Day, they have showed their love with their new limited edition packaging featured above! Isn’t it beautiful?

I found out that it’s no ordinary cream either. Even the service staff there treated each sample with care. To be honest, it feels more like a waxy substance than a cream.

Simply take a very small amount – probably the size of a 20 cent coin is enough for your entire face – and rub between your fingers until the product warms up and turns transparent. The reason behind this is because the miracle broth is actually inside liquid crystal sacs that are broken and mixed into the cream when we rub the cream together.

As you can see, it’s totally transparent! Then, pat the product onto your face, especially in your trouble zone.

La Mer was kind enough to hand me a Creme De La Mer sample to try at home. I’ve been in love with it recently. I’m so surprised that if you apply it correctly, it doesn’t have that rich or oily feeling at all. So many people think that they can’t pull this off because of the heat here but in actual fact, it is fully absorbed into the skin with the right amount. I think most of us would have applied it like a regular creme and that’s not the way to go with this one. You’ll find that it’s like a semi-matte finish but you wake up to glowing, absolutely pore-less skin. Amazing stuff.

Everyone loves a good nail polish. With so many brands already in Singapore shores like Butter London and Ciate at Sephora, I wouldn’t be suprised if more niche or cult nail polish brands made it over here too. Covet London is one of them. However, unlike OPI, China Glaze and more mass nail polish brands, they specialise in creating luxury and quality polish.

In fact, I was surprised to find out that their formula is actually 85-90% natural. I mean for a nail polish? They say that the reason why polishes cause yellowing of the nails is because of it’s quality. The nail is actually porous and can absorb whatever sits on top of it – just like your skin. That’s why there are so many nail polish brands coming up with formulas that are paraben (or perservative) free. However, Covet really took it a step up to try and make a polish that is as natural as they could make it.

The amount of chemicals in a nail polish is directly related to the characteristic smell nail polishes give off. We got to get our nails done at the event at all and I couldn’t smell the nail polish very much at all. I didn’t notice it in fact until they pointed it out! In fact, they do custom nail polish blends as well, all hand poured. Sometimes brides want to do their own custom nail polish blend to match their dress and even Moms who want to celebrate their first born!

I brought Tammy along too, my friend from High School and Melbourne! She’s back in Singapore and it’s always nice to have someone there with you. She chose a sea foam green called “Fancy” that went really well with her fair skin tone!

This is one coat of the nail polish. You need two coats of the stuff to really produce color results! As for me, I chose a gold called “Celebrate”. I was pretty much set to not do my nails either because I already did Gelish nails not too long ago. I mean, how can a nail polish be that pigmented right? I was so wrong!

Although it took three coats, I’m really surprised at how pigmented the nail polish is! It’s over my bright pink gel nails mind you! I also found the nail polish to dry really fast. It took probably half the time which was really impressive too! That’s Tammy’s nails all done with two coats!

I’m feeling a little nostalgic tonight. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m lying here looking at old photos on facebook or that I don’t want to finish up my work. I don’t want to be a crying baby, but I miss Melbourne. I miss going to college. I remember at that time I never really understood why  ”grown-ups” always told me to really cherish university life. I mean look at all the deadlines, assignments and projects right? Seriously though, really enjoy it because I’m telling you now you’re going to miss it when it’s gone.

I remember hating college and Melbourne for the first two years. I even wanted to move back and enrol myself in a local uni. Perhaps it was the culture shock or the fact that I didn’t have anyone to wash up after me. I just felt lonely and wanted to go back home. It was too cold, too foreign and I had too much work to do. Now that I think about it, it was only my last year and a half that I realised how fun exploring a city on your own and growing on your own is and I feel really blessed for everything and everyone I met during my college years.

If you’re about to go to college, or it might just be your first year, or you find yourself just hating it – here’s my two cents. University is about finding a balance between doing what you came to uni for and also using those critical years to explore and develop relationships with people. Get to know people. Go to parties. Say yes. Ask people out to lunch, to coffee, go be a tourist. I used to go to parties alone only knowing one person and coming out knowing everyone. Find out their story and learn their experiences. I think a mistake that a lot of people make is to entirely “close the door and only study”. I mean I could be treading on ice here by saying this but uni isn’t just about studying. It is about studying, but I’m here to say – utilize it well. A core skill that you need to learn for I guess the workforce and really for life are basic social skills – like meeting people, making friends, PR and getting to know them more. A lot of students spend their entire college years trying to get perfect scores, but when it comes to the interview, they’re just stiff cut-outs of the institution they just came out of.

Yet, a lot of students also make another mistake – and that’s not studying enough. Again, it’s about a balance right? When you’re in uni, you could be exactly the opposite. You’re like a dog without a leash and you want to soak everything up – including the bad. It is so important to get started with the right friends. Surround yourself with people who make you grow stronger and better as a person, who take delight in things that help you grow. The people you surround yourself with (your friends that you make) will start to mould and shape you, no matter what! Make that a positive influence in your life rather than a negative one. Doing things that alter you won’t make you forget the problems. I’m not here to be your Mom or Dad. I went through the same phase. You realize and mature after a while that all of that is complete mist. A vague substance you fill your holes with but when the mist clears, it is absolutely empty. Fill your pot full when you leave college and that’s substance that you’ll always have.

Explore, learn, experience. These are major things that I held on to besides studying. I did well in Uni, but I also came out with a whole list of experiences that are irreplaceable – whether its with friendships, love or life lessons. I can’t wait to one day walk the streets of Melbourne again, but I reckon it probably won’t feel the same. I won’t have the same people around me nor the same situations. I always feel like it’s so amazing that it seems like the people you meet are always at the right place and at the right time to experience things with you. Never dismiss a disappointing experience – a failed relationship, a jerk for a boyfriend or a backstabbing friend included – those help refine you into diamonds.

I still dearly miss the coffee and cafe culture from my college days in Melbourne. I miss eating at Twenty & Six Expresso, getting a perfect cup of coffee almost anywhere I go and chilling with my friends at another new haunt. If only I could go back, but life isn’t about that. It’s always about going forward and I guess I’ll have to try and make do with what’s in Singapore at the moment. I guess growing up I never really took to believing that Singapore could have the same oomph that Melbourne has in terms of food and cafe culture. I’ve always associated it with the kopitiam rich dark and black coffee, toast and half boiled eggs as the standard breakfast fare. Lunch includes something along the lines of chap fan or a plate of beehoon. But now, there are so many cafes just sprouting out well, everywhere. I could say I love food as much as make-up, nails and hair.

I’ve been trying out a few cafes here and there lately just to get a taste of the past, but there’s always something missing. I’m on the hunt for Melbourne – like cafes. What constitutes one? A rustic looking cafe with innovative and delicious brunch food and desserts. A great cup of coffee is an absolute must have. I guess you can call it a hipster haunt – you know a random bike parked on the side, glass bottles with a single flower in them and wooden rustic tables and chairs against a concrete wall. Maybe a potted plant here and there.

Jacob gets off days really spontaneously because he’s a chef so we try to utilize these off days as much as we can to explore our new home. We met in Melbourne too and we both had a little bit of a culture shock coming back after a few years. So today, we decided to explore Craig road – home to two cafes the Selfish Gene and the more established The Plain.

Selfish Gene is a relatively new cafe (from what I hear) and serves brunch, breakfast and great coffee. In fact, the skinny late I ordered was a good cup of coffee. It had a slightly bitter note from a very aromatic roast and was rich and intense like the ones I had back in Australia. Jacob ordered The Breakfast Plate – standard breakfast fare – sausages, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, ham and toast. It was a good breakfast but nothing absolutely fantastic. Maybe I’m a hard critic. I ordered a chicken salad that didn’t come with dressing on the side. In all honesty, the mono leaf salad and chicken slivers could have been done better. I would say I’d come for the coffee and maybe that’s about it.

Walking down Craig road, we decided to grab some dessert at The Plain. The Plain serves about the same thing but has a slightly wider range of desserts, more eggs, and a lower price tag. I liked the food but again, something’s missing. The ambience was off. It was too dark. Call it the A&F of cafes. The people were chill but scoffed at how we only ordered only one item off the menu. After grumbling in a corner with other staff, they returned to say that we don’t accept tables with only one item orders. You could have seen the waitresses face after we called for one lemon tart. We were full after all.

This dessert trolley was pretty cool. Although I wished for more innovative desserts than tea cakes and tarts. They still all looked pretty delicious. I wouldn’t call these dessert dishes. They’re tea-time snacks.

Nonetheless, we got a lemon tart and after called for a pink lady apple juice just because we had to order another item.

Anyway, the lemon lime tart was yummy. It came with a slice of passion fruit and yoghurt. Mix the yoghurt and passion fruit together and slab it on the slice. The pie was creamy and delicate and was really well done with the yoghurt.

Overall, so far the “I found a perfect cafe” count is still at zero but we had an amazing day. Go to Selfish Gene for the coffee if you must and try the lemon tart at The Plain to see for yourself.

We might have the moisturiser of the season, the blush of the century, but what about our toothpaste? After all, a smile is just as important as a clear complexion or a rockin’ lipstick! I’ve been using Darlie Expert White toothpaste for a while now, and I’m in love with the stuff. I first got it in one of the sample boxes, Black Box, and have been using it ever since. When Elle Magazine invited me to their Girl’s Day Out with Darlie, I couldn’t wait. The event was not just about perfect pearly whites but about all the other aspects that help us look great too – like your make-up, your diet and also how you look in photos! Thought it would be great to share with you what I learnt!

The event was held at Loola’s, a restaurant at the Esplanade (which is this giant Durian shaped building in central Singapore). It was interesting to see that it was made by Awfully Chocolate which is a well known chocolate eatery in Singapore!

We first started off with celebrity make-up artist, Larry Yeo. He’s a very famous make-up artist in Singapore and does many editorials for the major magazines. Larry gave us tips on how you can achieve a brighter complexion to go with your new smile like how to conceal your under eye circles and what lipstick to match your white teeth. Probably the most interesting tips were that he mixed foundation with highlighter and applied it all over the model’s face and wanted to use a blue toned lipstick for a warm toned skin. 

I thought the tips were unique (to say the least),  but I do know that a slightly blue toned lip color (that has a tiny blue slant to it) can make your smile brighter. It reminds me of Benefit’s blue toned lip gloss. Although it looks blue in the tube, it applies clear on the lips with a tiny blue shade to it. It really does make your teeth look whiter though!

Next up was Bibi Chia, an expert nutritionist on how we can glow from within by changing our diets.  For glowing skin, she insisted that vitamin C is really important for the complexion and calcium to have a beautiful smile. I was a little worried at first because I don’t drink milk on a daily basis at all. It’s just not my chosen drink. Thankfully, you can find calcium in other foods I do eat like almonds and even oranges.

Probably the most interesting presentation was by Joel Lim who is Elle Magazine’s Photographer of the Year! He taught us how to pose with confidence in front of the camera! He was quite charming and picked (almost unwilling) volunteers from the audience!

Renee (beautyfool) got picked to pose on stage and show us poses like the Hollywood twist which allows us to look slim from the side! My tips? Stand from the side and keep your arm angled like a celeb. Then face the camera on your good side of course with your chin downwards!

But I think I had the most fun with this experiment. I have come to say that Darlie Expert White is the only whitening toothpaste that has actually made my teeth more white. I’ve tried a lot of them and they never seem to work. I love the taste of this stuff too, it’s not too extremely minty and it’s just right actually. Anyway, we all did an experiment with the toothpaste to see just how whitening it can be!

We first mixed water into the toothpaste, using the Darlie Expert White and another fluoride whitening toothpaste that isn’t Darlie Expert White. We then had tablets which represented our teeth and we soaked the tablets into the toothpaste for a few minutes. This is the actual “brushing”.

After that, we rinsed the tablets in water and then added the tablets into tea for a few minutes. Tea is a common “teeth stainer” along with coffee. My friend actually drinks both drinks through a straw!

Afte withdrawing the tablets from the tea and wiping them with a paper towel, the results are ridiculously clear. Darlie Expert White really prevents stains and protects your teeth unlike the other fluoride toothpaste!

I had a great time and it was fab seeing these lovely familiar faces too :)

It’s that time of the month again! Well, no..not that time of the month but it’s certainly time to get a facial! Facials are an important to any skincare routine and is recommended by skin experts to be done once a month (or whenever you need a little pampering).  I was invited by Asian Skin Solutions to come down to try out their facial services and intrigued by the way they’ve dived into specialising in asian skin, I couldn’t wait to try them out to see whether it actually makes a difference.  Asian Skin Solutions have discovered that Caucasian and Asian skin is structured differently and that they both have different skin problems that can’t be solved by just one solution. In fact, it’s one of the few salons that specialise in Asian skin here in Singapore.

Even though everyone’s skin is different and it’s hard to make a general statement about any skin, there are similarities that can be noted. The more common problems that Caucasian girls face include freckles, dry skin, wrinkles and skin that is more prone to sunburns. On the other hand, Asian skin often has pigmentation issues, open pores, dehydrated skin and acne scarring. It’s probably due to the fact that we are exposed to a different climate and environment. The humidity in Singapore doesn’t help the open pores, air conditioning that we are often in due to the hot climate makes our skin dehydrated and pigmentation issues are due to the sun. Asian Skin Solutions specialise in addressing these particular concerns.

I first started out with a personal analysis of my skin using this ultra cool “magic wand”. I’ll call it a magic wand since I’m not sure what it’s actually called. Anyway, it reminded me of the SKII magic ring crossed with an ultrasound instrument. It’s great because when put to the face – it can analyze on a program different skin issues like how rough your skin is, to oil control and pigmentation.

My major skin concerns were pigmentation and uneven skin tone. I wasn’t surprised to be honest since I do have a few little acne scars popping up recently. I haven’t been getting much sleep either since the boy is a chef and gets off work really late. However, my skin texture and collagen count wasn’t too bad at all!

If you haven’t recognised, the amount of collagen is directly related to how many triangles you see right here in this analysis. The first picture in the top left is my face, the second on the top right is my neck and the bottom is my forearm. My forearm is like baby skin un-exposed to the sun so that’s why it’s like the “ideal” skin. The other two seem to say that I haven’t been applying enough sunscreen, but to be honest that’s my facial skin with make-up on. Contrary to popular belief, consuming collagen doesn’t always guarantee you that you’ll be softer and supple because you can’t control where and to what body part the collagen will go to after its been consumed.

After the analysis, I was prescribed the Rose Oxygen -Infused Facial Peel Treatment! This facial treatment is supposed to hydrate your skin, and revitalize and brighten your complexion. It’s definitely a must-need for me since my schedule makes me a busy bee even during the day and into the night. I learnt from a skincare specialist ages ago that blackheads are easily removed when the skin is hydrated. I’ve been having more than a few clogged pores even with exfoliation lately so I’m glad the treatment called for that. I asked to skip the extraction part of the facial not because I can’t stand the pain, but because I don’t believe in extraction. Girl, didn’t your mama tell you, you should never pick your pimples? Well, even if its done professionally, I don’t believe in it.

Of course the first step is to remove your make-up! It was really relaxing thanks to the massage skills of the specialist and the warm damp towels to remove the make-up. My lipstick was really hard to remove since it’s the Revlon Ultimate Suede – my favourite lipstick of the moment!

After a super cleanse, the specialist scrubbed my skin clean to remove any dead skin cells and then turned on the steam! I love getting a good facial steam. It’s really relaxing and warm and it just feels like my skin cells are breathing again. After the steaming, the specialist massaged my skin with an oxygen infused serum and added a rosewater mist. I don’t know if it’s the fact that my name is Roseanne that makes me love rose flowers and smells so much, but wow, that rosewater just made the facial. It smelled amazing and the serum gel felt really nice and cold. It was a wonderful massage that helped drain any toxins away too. She then added a softening mask and let me just melt into it for the next 15 minutes.

I know, I look a little freaky. But don’t be scared, you’re about to be informed about basically the most interesting facemask method I’ve ever done! This is a two-mask system. Basically, she added a white clay like mask on first. I thought that this was it until she added a layer of soft cotton mesh on top of it. She then added a towel on top of my eyes to relax them. Then, she applied a layer of the green peel treatment on top of the mesh layer. Did you know that I took these pictures blindfolded (I know, pretty good right?) and I only saw what I looked like after the facial? I was pretty shocked too!

The gel dries to a soft rubber that peels off and my skin feels ridiculously soft and smooth after it! This is me about 2 hours after the facial after coming back home, no make-up or skincare on at all. My complexion really does look brighter, rosier and healthier! It also feels much calmer too. Overall, it was a really good experience (despite looking like the incredible hulk, rawr!)

If you’re having a blush emergency, pick up the phone and call…Fine One One! I’ve been recently into cream blushes, something I never really enjoyed until now. I love how they’re totally on the go, they don’t need an additional brush to slap on and they give an irreplaceable natural glow. Here’s my review of a fairly new one that’s hit the market – the Benefit Cosmetics Fine One One!

The Fine One One actually claims to be a brightening stick more than a cream blush. I think the most appropriate category to put this in is a cream blush stick. And seriously, they need more of these around. Open the stick up and you see that it’s much like a stick or lipstick. Use the rotating wheel to get more of the product out like a push pop. Fine One One is made up of three colours – a bright orange, sweetheart candy red and a pearly highlighter – that together create a beautiful peachy glow.

The first time I tried this –  I tried to angle the stick in a way so that the highlighter would be on the top, red in the middle and orange at the bottom. Although it was a nice streak, I ended up blending everything anyway. That being said, I use the stick by applying the product in downward streaks where I want the blush to go (usually near the apples of my cheek, blending upwards).

Then, I take my fingers and rub and blend the blush upwards. It’s a cream blush so you don’t need to use an additional brush (unless you’re obsessively clean) and I love the glow it gives you! I found the product to be really easily blendable. You don’t have to be afraid of applying too much cream blush and looking like a clown because it seems even a lot on when blended becomes really pretty and natural. You can also use this on your lips but because I’m really into red lips lately, I skipped that step, heh.

This is the perfect blush color in my opinion. Not too pink, not too peachy. It’s like the perfect coral colour. What’s not to love about this product? Hmm. Well, I guess it doesn’t last as long as your regular powder blushes but that’s already a given. I’d say apply a sheer coat of this and set with your favourite blush if you want to make it last through the night. Other than that, I give it a full thumbs up!

It’s an idiot- proof blush that’s great for on the go and everyday. I have it in my make-up bag for easy blush touch-ups!

Hey Everyone!

I can’t believe it’s the last day of our Disneyland adventure. It has been such an inspiring and fun trip to Hong Kong and such a break from the city. From having breakfast with Mickey to going vertical on RC Racer, it was such a dream vacation. But, let’s finish off with a bang shall we? Of course, it’s breakfast time! This time, it was at our Hollywood Hotel at Chef Mickey!

Chef Mickey is a restaurant with an international buffet! You’re for sure talking an international cuisine with food from Japan, USA, and of course local delights again like Dim Sum and noodles. It’s a really nice spread of food. Apparently Mickey is supposed to come out and surprise us in his chef costume but I guess he slept in today!

Look at the uniforms and those Mickey buttons!

They didn’t have egg tarts at the Enchanted Garden and Hong Kong (especially Macau which is just a ferry ride away) is known for their delicious egg tarts! These for sure didn’t disappoint.

Full tummies yet again! I really liked the dim sum. I’ve never had that much variety of dim sum at a breakfast buffet before. Well we are in Hong Kong I guess!

Time to work it off and our first stop is Space Mountain – of course after a bit of walking and shopping! I know right. But it’s actually one of my favourite rides in Disneyland. Space Mountain is a fast moving indoor roller coaster but don’t worry, there’s not flips or anything. It just goes really fast.

I love Space Mountain because it feels like you’re really in outer space! There are stars everywhere and you feel like you’re really rushing through all the stars on a space rocket. It is so much fun and I totally recommend it!

But I guess we shouldn’t forget the classic rides either like Orbitron. This is the classic spinning ride that allows you to push a button to let your carriage go up and down as you please. It’s been done by Dumbo the Flying Elephant and even Dinosaurs but it never gets old.

I always feel like I’m flying on this ride, even though pushing the button is a bit redundant since I like it at the max level!

After the ride, we managed to get a meal and drink coupon so why not try the Quick Service restaurants around the park! These are just sort of like food centres and there is one pretty much at every land. If you aren’t keen for spending a lot at a cafe, then try these food centres as they’re much more affordable. Since I liked the ambience of Adventureland so much, we settled for Tahitian Terrace!

The food was actually not bad. Jacob got the Butter Chicken with rice and I got the Balinese Chicken. It kind of tasted like green curry and rice and the portion size was pretty good too. I remember when I was in Disneyland in L.A and my parents would by just two meals to feed four of us because the portion sizes in the states were so huge!

After that, we made our way to the media launch of the new land, Mystic Point! Mystic Point is the last land of Hong Kong Disneyland’s expansion project and the land will be open to public on May 17th, 2013! How exciting right? I felt so blessed to be able to see it before everyone else could!

The story about Mystic Point isn’t something that is classically Disney. It’s about this character called Lord Henry who is an eccentric explorer and adventurer and his explorations and travels around the globe. He has an extensive collection of fine art, findings, antiques and collectables from all over the world which he has put in Mystic Manor for everyone to see. It has a mysterious and alluring vibe to it. Lord Henry also happens to have a mischievous monkey as well that you’ll get to know more about when I talk about the ride.

I thought they did a beautiful job with Mystic Manor. I mean look at it. It’s a full scale mansion. You can like go in and live in it now. It’s amazing how much detail, effort and attention goes into everything that Disney creates. It’s so magical! We also got to try their new drink that will be available at Mystic Point called the Blueberry Myst! It is a yummy cream soda with blueberry compote and the lighted ice cubes make such a nice mysterious touch!

The main dining area is the Explorer’s Club Restaurant. The restaurant is divided into five themes and countries – like Egypt, Russia, Morocco, India and China. They will be offering 16 special dishes and guests can admire the decor as they savor all the yummy delicacies! The Chef recommends the Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup (which is also approved by yours truly) and the Blueberry Myst.

The whole land was absolutely stunning and fit to the theme. You’ll also get to go shopping at the Archive Shop which offers a brand new merchandise assortment of over 140 items with 4 main themes of Mystic Manor.

Of course the highlight of the trip is the ride of Mystic Point – the Mystic Magneto-Electrical Carriage! This ride is about five minutes long and features state of the art 4K HD Cinema projectors that are used to create 40 different types of special visual effects.

The ride tells the story of Lord Henry’s mischievous monkey and the magical music box that turns Lord Henry’s collection and artefacts to life! Music dust from the music box weaves its way through the rooms of Mystic Manor as you see the story progress. The cars actually rotate which brings you almost a mobile theatre experience!

From seeing music instruments coming to life, to singing Egyptian Antiques to Tribal Arts and Mediterranean Antiques – it is surely a ride that really tells an engaging and fun story!

If you’re more keen on exploring, the Garden of Wonders at Mystic Point is really cool too. There are several ancient sculptures and mosaics there including optical illusions like this one and 3D illusions as well.

There’s a view finder to see the illusion come to life! Jacob looks so much bigger than me right? It’s just an optical illusion!

The Mystic -Point Freight Depot will have cultural ambassadors that will appear in traditional Native American, Egyptian, Bulgarian, Indian and Mexican costumes to meet the guests for a truly international experience. The Depot is also scattered with precious artefacts from different historical backgrounds that you can take pictures with!

I still can’t believe that sitting here and typing up this post means it’s the end of the adventure but the memories will always remain. It was a remarkable time and such a good break from reality. Even though I’ve spent three days at the park, I’m looking forward to many more trips to Hong Kong Disneyland in the future. I can never really get tired of it because each time you visit, it still is magical and new.

Hong Kong Disneyland is a really special place to visit and I totally recommend going. I mean look at me, I still sing Winnie the Pooh from time to time. If you’re tired of city life and really want a magical escape then I don’t see why not.

They say that scents are collections of memories. A whiff of something can instantly bring you back to a moment in time. I reckon it’s like wearing a memory. If you are in need of a new perfume, I’m proud to announce that L’Occitane has just come out with four new scents available Tuesday this coming week in stores which are all worth a whiff! They smell amazing! It’s the L’Occitane Collection De Grasse range which I had the honor of previewing a few weeks ago!

Grasse is actually a town in France were local growers cultivate jasmine, rose, orange blossom and violet flowers. It’s actually undeniably the world capital of perfumery, a place that unites precious ingredients from near and far. In fact, the greatest perfumers in the world learned their skills in the laboratories of Grasse for centuries! Karine Dubreuil is the perfumer for L’Occitane who has worked for various major perfume houses. She is the nose behind many famous fragrances already and created the compositions for the L’Occitane Collection De Grasse. They’re a union of complimentary ingredients and that’s why they smell so good!

The perfumes use luxurious ingredients. The Vert & Bigarade can actually be worn for men and women and reminds us of a summer’s day. It is a very refreshing scent with Greet Tea extracts from Japan and bitter oranges from Tunisia! If you are a fan of the citrus fragrance, I totally recommend it. Head notes are oranges and bitter orange, heart notes being green tea while base notes are cedar, thyme and musk.

The Jasmin & Bergamote is a light, graceful and delicate scent. The perfume unites Jasmine flowers from Grasse and Egypt and bergamot from Italy. Two types of jasmine are needed from different locations to balance petals, leaves freshness and sensuality. It’s headnotes are mandarine orange and Bergamot, heart notes being Jasmine and lemon leaves and base notes being sandalwood and cedar. This fragrance comes with a wonderful hair mist too! Hair smelling nice is an absolute must-do!

The Magnolia & Mure fragrance is my ultimate favourite one. It’s a sensual and mysterious fragrance with deep and tender blackberry notes. However, those notes are balanced by the magnolia flower. The Magnolia essence in the fragrance is from the Far East and the blackberry infusion from the South of France. It smells amazing! Head notes are bergamot and blackberry, heart notes being Magnolia and Rose and Base notes being patchouli and moss.

The Vanilla & Narcisse is for all of the vanilla lovers out there but now with a twist. Unlike just a normal plain jane classic vanilla fragrance, it’s a vanilla lightly enveloped with white flowers. Those white flowers are the scent of the narcissus which L’Occitane has brought from France. The vanilla absolute in the fragrance comes from Madagascar. It’s a warm fragrance and it’s headnotes are blackcurrant and bergamot, heart notes being Narcissus, gardenia and base notes being Vanilla, tonka bean.

We even got creative at the event, making our own L’Occitane scarves! We had fun splattering paint on muslin cloths. I chose the colours of La Collection De Grasse – being yellow, purple, pink, orange and green!

I haven’t been art and crafty for a long time and it felt really good! Hey, I’m actually pretty proud of myself.

Along with La Collection De Grasse, you’ll be wanting their gift sets. To be honest, sometimes I purchase the gift sets first to try out everything before I dive into getting a full sized version. Plus, I love gift sets because it means my friends and family get to try out more things!

Like this one! If you are as indecisive as me, or like the whole lot, then go ahead and get the mini versions. I know how long it takes to finish one bottle so I like getting mini versions for myself so I can change it up.

I’ve been receiving lots of compliments on my nails lately so I thought I’d share with you what’s on them this week! There are so many nail trends nowadays – from magnetic to velvet and concrete – but “speckled’ nails in a bottle have also recently made its debut! I’ve been wearing Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Speckle – it’s a pretty pale purple with black speckles!

And even though it’s pretty much summer now, they remind me so much of chocolate Easter eggs! My parents brought back an entire bag of them and they’re so yummy. They’re like enlarged MnMs.

I get a lot of questions whether I did my nails myself and it’s as easy as just one swipe of the brush! The nail varnish has larger glitter particles and really small ones that are mono colour and when you apply it, they appear as black dots. The smaller speckled dots come from layering your nail polish too so you have a bit of a translucent gradient effect. The Illamasqua nail varnishes actually come in a few other shades like pink, green and blue besides purple!

The effect is a pretty unique set of nails. I really like the imperfect look of them and they add great texture to the nails too! And it doesn’t help that they look edible. But remember to stick to you easter eggs, lol.

Hey Everyone!

It’s Day 2 of our Disneyland Adventure! We first started off with a charming breakfast at the Enchanted Garden. The Enchanted Garden is a restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel and the buffet breakfast every morning is special in that Mickey and his friends will visit your table so that you can take pictures with them! It’s definitely a fun experience but make sure you know what timing session you are. They allow customers in by sessions according to the time each morning.

Isn’t it such a pretty place? I was also actually impressed with the food as well. I wasn’t expecting such a huge spread with so many different cuisines!

We’ve got our Western fare if you are a bacon and eggs person, Hong Kong cuisine like Dim Sum if you’re longing to taste some local food and even a whole spread of breads and pastries. We filled up fast because there were so many things to eat! Good thing we’re able to burn it off later when we walk the park ;).

But of course, your Enchanted Garden experience isn’t complete until Mickey Mouse comes walking around sniffing at your food. Don’t be bothered grabbing him while you grab your food for a picture. Mickey actually goes table by table.

And if you can’t get enough of Mickey when he goes to the next table, you can always munch on a Mickey shaped waffle! Aren’t these so adorable? There’s tons of different sauces you can try out as well. My friend, Yina, had a hidden Mickey in her pile of pancakes!

After such a filling breakfast, we scurried off to the park again. You’d think after one day of Disneyland, it’d be enough. But if feels like every time you go there, it’s a new experience all over again. The weather was a bit better today with blue skies. I had been warned that April tends to be quite cool but rainy so we were thankful for the blue. Main Street U.S.A was our first stop!

Main Street U.S.A is the first place you come into when you enter Disneyland and it leads up to the different lands, being Fantasyland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland. It’s a whole row of shops and dining places that look like an American town from the yester-years. You can buy any Disney souvenir, toy, sweet or cookie and is the best at night. It’s absolutely beautiful when the whole place lights up.

It’s really like a trip back in time. Everyone is dressed in that era and it is a beautiful place to walk around and really enjoy yourselves before being immersed in the different lands.

Did I mention you can even pose with the balloons. I look like I’m starring in a thing for Up! the movie. Some of the balloons available are actually really cute. There’s this Princess one that has lights in the balloon that is absolutely stunning at night. I wanted to take one home but I have no where to put it. And bringing it on board of flight might be a little risky.

I love how there are so many dress up things from Disney that you can buy too. Almost all the little girls around the resort had a princess costume on. You can buy princess dresses. I guess it’s the time to wear them since you are in Disneyland! How cute are these sunglasses?

If you are hungry, there are tons of places to eat at Main Street as well and not to mention snacks. Even with such a full buffet breakfast, we were tempted by the waffles and ice cream. We had an incredible amount of food on this trip. I should really be working it off right now, haha.

Since we had Mickey waffles at breakfast, we settled for ice cream! I got the Minnie Mouse ice cream that was strawberry and mango while Jacob got the chocolate covered vanilla ice cream. It was so yummy! Of course being me, I bit the ears off first! Oops.

We thought we would try something new and detoured off to Tomorrowland! Tomorrowland is sort of the Sci-Fi area of the park. Buzz Lightyear, Stich and anything mechanical lives in Tomorrowland including the popular ride, Space Mountain!

The Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride is a huge ride in Hong Kong Disneyland! So much so that they have fast pass machines. Fast pass machines help with the queue system at Disneyland by allotting you to a time that you can come back and just immediately take the ride.

All you have to do is insert your ticket into the mouth of the robot and the robot will spit out a fast pass ticket that allows you to come back and take the ride immediately at the time stated on the ticket.

As you can see, we can walk around until 1:35 to 2:35 and take the ride immediately during this time period. When I was in L.A and Orlando for Disneyworld and Disneyland, these machines were extremely helpful. We didn’t have to wait in line all day and could do other things. We even would collect fast past tickets all in one go so we didn’t have to wait at all!

The Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride is really fun. It’s basically a ride and shooting game together. You’re invited into this car with two guns and screens to keep score and you’re supposed to blast the guns at different targets.

You then get points for each time you blast the target correctly. Harder to reach targets earn you more points. But seriously I was just shooting randomly and managed to score higher than Jacob! He wanted to take the ride all over again. I think it’s just because he wanted to beat my score!

Eventually though we did take the ride again and yes, he scored higher than me this time.

Another great ride is Autopia. Granted you get past the almost constant 45 minute waiting time, it’s actually quite fun. It’s just a driving game. You press the pedal to the metal and steer but don’t worry if you get off track, there’s a track so even  if you press the accelerator and don’t touch the steering wheel, it’s absolutely fine. Great for kids I guess!

Having not taken my practical lessons for driving, I was pretty horrible. I didn’t expect it though since I’ve done go karts just fine! Maybe it’s just like driving in real life. If it is, we are gonna need some life jackets. I felt bad for Jacob next to me but don’t tell my future driving instructor.

After Tomorrowland, we hopped back to Fantasyland! Fantasyland is where I think the Disney magic really originates from. The town is like a little cartoon medieval land with Cinderella’s Castle in the background. Rides like Winnie the Pooh, Mad-hatter’s Spinning Tea Cups, the Disneyland Carousel and Mickey’s Philhar Magic are here.

Mickey’s Philhar Magic is another popular attraction. It’s a 4D experience so you’re talking not just seeing 3D but also “feeling” 3D.

You’ll need your 3D glasses for this one. It’s really a great experience and you don’t actually expect a lot of the things that are about to happen.

Just a few hints – you might just smell something delicious wafting in the air or feel a spritz of water on your face! But of course I’m leaving the rest of your discovery for your to do list.

Then, of course it’s lunch time! We had lunch at Corner Cafe which is a restaurant on Main Street. They offer American cuisine just like what Walt Disney would have had back home, but of course with a few Disney touches!

There are so many yummy things to eat. The High Tea set was really great that includes Mickey mouse shaped scones and designed macarons, little burgers and Tinkerbell strawberry tarts, as well as Mickey shaped fruit! We also dug into these delicious waffles again, but with a different spin. They had delicious cream in them that went very well with the maple and strawberry syrup that came with it!

We had quite a lot of mains between the four of us as well! Including the Ribs, Vegetable Lasagne and my vacation staple – Cheeseburger and fries. I always have to have a Cheeseburger during a vacation. I don’t know why. I really like burgers and fries. It’s like a most delicious combination! The food at Corner Cafe is great. All tasted absolutely perfect! It was also nice because we had the view of the Flight of Fantasy Parade that I talked about in my last post when we were eating!

After our filling lunch, we decided to walk it off at Adventureland! Jacob is trying to fit the mood but I think he looks like a growling bear, hehe. Our first stop is Tarzan’s House! Tarzan’s House is not really a ride. It’s more like a gallery and museum as you climb up and down his Treehouse! To get to his Treehouse though, you have to take a little platform boat across the river.

It was definetly a guided tour with a spin! As you walk through the house, you’ll see bridges, stairs and also the story of Tarzan through little alcoves of the characters!

It’s kind of like an obstacle course actually and was great because it was kind of like your own little discovery each time you walked a bridge or climbed the staircase.

As you can see, there are little small huts, and you can read about the story of Tarzan. Everything is super realistic so it feels like the characters were actually living there.

Jacob as you can see was very entertained by everything. At the bottom of the treehouse, there are interactive things you can push or pull. Mostly great for the Kids but not too bad for adults either!

Did I mention that a popular snack at Hong Kong Disneyland is the Grilled squid? You usually see this at your local shop downstairs but Disneyland makes it fresh! They actually grill the squid in front of you and press it. The squid is yummy as well. Seasoned great and makes a great low-fat snack.

Of course what’s a trip to Disneyland without visiting the It’s A Small World Ride! They have this ride in all Disney parks I’ve been to and I guess it’s a really special ride to Disney. I didn’t expect them to create a whole new land for the ride though. I usually see it as a single ride but it looks so amazing, like a town by itself.

The ride is basically a gentle boat ride that takes you through different parts of the world because the ride is about racial harmony and having respect for everybody regardless of their race, gender or preferences. That’s why it’s called “It’s a Small World” because the world is really small and somehow, we are all connected to each other.

The ride was really colourful and the little dolls everywhere were singing in different languages or translations of the It’s A Small World song. I think if you don’t like dolls though, it’s best to give this ride a miss!

Everytime I go to a fair, I’m always game for some Cotton Candy! Look how much is on this stick! Because of the humidity though, you have to eat it fast, or it’s going to melt right then and there!

For dinner, we went back to the Disneyland Hotel for Dinner at Walt’s Cafe! It’s a restaurant that pays tribute to the great Walt Disney who created this all. I’m so amazed and inspired by Walt Disney, the man. He was a classical story of rags to riches and it all started when he saw a mouse scurry in his hotel room. I mean, wow. Look at him now, his legacy still continues and not just a movie but in a billion dollar industry – movies, cartoons, theme parks, merchandise and even hotels and resorts – bringing Disney magic to everyone all over the world – even in Hong Kong!

Walt’s Cafe is more of a fine dining restaurant and housed in that classical european theme that resonates in the rest of the Disneyland Hotel. It’s french and western cuisine but they offer also asian meals as well! Walt Disney’s pictures are hung around the restaurant which I thought was really cool because it showed sketches of when he wanted to design the parks and letters he wrote to people when he first started out his cartoons. It’s really inspiring!

We first started out with one of my favourite but very rich soups, the French Onion. It’s basically a brown onion soup with a covering of cheese over it. The cheese melts into the soup and it’s absolutely delicious. The guys also managed to make their own salads at the salad bar! Although it was more of a pick and choose and the waiter mixes sort of thing.

I ordered the lamb chops. I’ve had lamb chops with a herb crust before and I fell in love with them. Jacob made me the same ones that were from a Gordon Ramsay recipe  The chops were tender and well seasoned. We also ordered a beef rump, butter chicken and cod fish which were also great meals too.

Overall, Day 2 was an amazing day at Disneyland! Look forward to Day 3, our last day and an exciting mention of a new land coming up!

This is the only time I get to wear bad make-up and get away with it. I have to admit it and I’m sorry if I sound mean but there are times when I just wanna help a gal out. Either in the MRT, mall or even on the street, sometimes I just wonder what’s going on in their heads when they put on their make-up this morning. Being a make-up artist, it’s really hard not to look. Here are my top 5 make-up pet peeves (peeves are things that really annoy you) and how to fix them! They’re common make-up mistakes that everyone makes! Not like you gotta fix them for me, but let’s just say you gotta help yourself.

1. The Reverse Panda Eye

This is probably the most common. You’re doing your make-up and you didn’t sleep much last night so you’re layering on that concealer under the eye. In the mirror it looks pretty good but trust me girl, it’s deceiving. You think it brightens your look up but when the camera snaps and flash goes off, you look like what I call – the “Reverse Panda”.

It’s not a good look. You look like you have headlights under your eyes and it’s just plain distracting. But, here are a few tips to help you out. If you have heavy and dark under-eye circles it is totally understandable why you want the coverage. Instead, make sure you opt for a concealer with no SPF and no reflective properties. Anything that is a concealer and highlighter in one or a “radiant” concealer is an absolute no. Instead go for something that’s just a liquid concealer. However, if you have no under eye circles like me, and want to highlight – then, just dab three dots underneath your eye and in short dabbing motions, blend the concealer out! Just to clear things up, your under eye concealer should be the same color (not lighter) as your foundation/face.

2. Round Blush-a-Holic

I don’t know how this trend made it here, but it did. The round circle blush shape is making waves with it’s Japanese fans but truth be told, we don’t all look like Japanese dolls. I’ve seen this on girls on the train, going shopping, at the movies. And I hate to be mean, but I really think you look like Krusty the Clown’s wife. I mean look at me! I didn’t even do up myself that bad to show you. I usually see these girls with bright red or orange circles on their cheeks. I just wanna go up there, ask for their permission of course, and blend it out. Trust me, they’re not doing cosplay either.

Blush can do so much for you and it’s not just about looking fresher and more alive. It can help slim you down too. For the most natural flush, work the blush slightly from the top of your cheekbones down to your cheeks. Make sure you add a little at a time till you get the perfect flush and you can see that the blush looks much better and more complete!

3.  The Ashy Foundation 

One of my friends is super fair, but really wants to be tan so much so, she’s in “foundation shade denial”. She refuses to get a foundation that is her shade and usually goes for the shade 2 or 3 shades darker. Then, she bronzes up her entire body. Although looking tan isn’t the problem here in Singapore, I still think we have a similar problem. A lot of the more tan models I do always ask me to apply something lighter so they look lighter on camera. That’s not a problem since it’s on camera but walking around, you do look a little funny. The reason why you look ashy, dull or gray is because your foundation either is too light a shade for you or you’re walking around with the wrong undertone.

And it’s not your fault either. The BB Cream craze here is…crazy! They only provide one or two shades and all of them are for light skin tones. Even walking to your local Watsons and Guardian, most of the make-up brands even major ones supply only foundation shades for light skin tones. It kinda makes me a little mad. Find something that is your skin tone. But, it could be the fact that the actual foundation is gray! There are so many bb creams out there with a gray undertone. You squeeze it out on your palm and it’s obviously gray! Do you check this or no, because it’s gray. I show you ze difference. Gray vs. Yellow – BOTH are bb creams. I’m not going to name any names but you can see the difference for yourself.

4. Top Heavy Lashes

That picture makes me wanna go “heheheheh”. Lol. You can see how dramatically smaller my eyes have gotten and this is everywhere. I mean false lashes can do every Asian great things, including myself. They do open up the eyes. However! You must get lashes that suit your eye-shape. Sometimes people think that all false lashes are created equal but no, they come in different shapes and sizes for a reason! Getting super full lashes does not equate to getting super big eyes. In fact, it equates to smaller eyes if your eyes can’t carry them well.

So how do you pick a good lash. Granted the “good lash” isn’t the best lash I have but it will do. You can see the “good lash” has varying lengths, cris crosses, has more space between the lash and is layered. This is for sure going to look a little lighter on your eyes than the “bad lash”. Of course if you have really large eyes you can turn the “bad lash” into a “good lash”, but this lash is going to just flatten and squash your eye. It’s a straight cut which isn’t natural. It’s just thick. It’s like I can just grab the thing as one piece of hula skirt and take it off.

As you can see, the “good lash” makes such a gigantic difference. Even though the “good lash” isn’t as thick as the “bad lash”, it’s able to open my eyes even bigger than they originally were without lashes and that’s exactly what you want!

Disney has played a huge part of our lives when we were little. When I was 5 years old, all I wanted to be was Esmiralda from Disney’s Hunchback of Notredame and the year after, Belle from Sleeping Beauty. My favourite story book was Cinderella and I still have the torn up book I used to read time and time again. I might not be into Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj, but I love Disney and it’s a probably a love that will never fade.

I’ve always seen Disneyland as a huge escape from reality. It’s the best park to get lost in the magic of Disney – the sounds, smells, people and characters. I’ve been to all the parks around the world except the one in Paris (simply because I haven’t been to Paris yet) and I’m in love with all of them! With Jacob and I working pretty hard lately, we thought we would share with you our Hong Kong Disneyland adventure! We went for three days in total and to attend the Media launch of the new Hong Kong Disneyland expansion called Mystic Point. I’ve been to Hong Kong Disneyland previously when it first opened and it only had 3 areas so I felt it was quite small. However, that was five years ago and now they are double its size!

We left Singapore at about 5 to 6AM in the morning on a United Airlines flight. It was so early so we didn’t even bother sleeping! We touched down in Hong Kong and took a Taxi straight to the hotel to check-in. Taking a taxi from the airport to Disneyland is the best option – fastest and cheapest. The park is actually really near the airport!

Our Hotel was Disney’s Hollywood Hotel. There are two hotels in Disneyland – the Hollywood and also the Disneyland Hotel. Each have a different take. Hollywood is more of the Art Deco movie era while Disneyland is more Victorian and Princess/Royal.

After check-in, we headed straight for lunch! My favourite. Travelling around the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is really easy, just grab the shuttle bus that connects the Disneyland park and the two hotels together. We all hopped on a bus ready to dig in! The itinerary called for a Dim Sum lunch at the Crystal Lotus Restaurant.

The Disneyland Hotel is really beautiful and quite “atas” as they call it. You’re talking magnificent chandeliers so we knew the Crystal Lotus was going to be really swanky. It’s a fine dining Chinese restaurant that’s award winning as well. Sometimes when I think of Disneyland, I don’t immediately think that the food is top notch but really this whole trip there again impressed me and blew me away with how good the food is here.

And I guess I wasn’t expecting that our Dim Sum was going to be Disney themed as well. I really think the small details in everything really add up. I just love the Disney touches. You’re not talking about just in the park but if you stay in the hotels, the experience of being in another magical world really is there.

How cute are these Toy Story martians? They had a vegetable spinach filling in them and they were delicious. If you’re more of a meat person, why not grab a Char Siew Pau Piglet? They were almost too cute to eat.

But besides having delicious Disney Dim Sum we also had other main Chinese dishes like this Prawn and Asparagus! This was amazing. The prawns were really fresh and juicy and the asparagus complimented it really nicely. I didn’t know that they could make such a combination. My mom usually makes it with celery.

After a great lunch, we headed straight to Disneyland. I mean why waste any time right? I was ridiculously excited. You know those holidays when you’re constantly being just thrilled at everything you see? Yep. That was me in Disneyland. If you’re that big a Disney fan as I am, you would probably understand. I’m also a big theme park fan so put the two together and you kinda get the picture ;).

Jacob was thrilled too! Behind us is a gigantic fountain with Willy the whale spouting out Mickey on a surf board! By the way I’m wearing one of necklaces from the new roseanne.sg collection! The Ivory Gem Necklace, you’ve probably seen me wearing it a million times and I love it so much.

After entering the park, we heard the famous Flights of Fantasy Parade was starting so we quickly made it to our spots. The parade is better than I ever expected. They didn’t just have moving floats! People were dancing their ways down the streets, trapeeze artists were swinging and bouncing around and almost all the Disney classics had floats to represent them.

Here’s the Pooh float one of my favourites. Just the whole motions of everyone were so in sync. Everyone looked ridiculously happy and I can just imagine the hours of practice they put into this show so they can make smiles on people everyday! It was a great start to the vacation and really put the Disney spirit back in everyone!

We then made our ways to the new land – Toy Story Land! Number one, I’m a huge Toy Story fan. Number two, I’ve never been to this land before despite having been to Hong Kong Disneyland before so it was uber exciting. The whole story behind Toy Story Land is that they want to make you feel like you’re as tiny as Woody and Buzz Lightyear. All the toys tower above you and I love how every single little thing there makes you feel as if you’re part of the movie!

Surprisingly, there are also quite a number of rides in Toy Story land as well!

And of course a huge selection of picture opportunities. The whole place is one big picture opportunity. I really don’t see any other kind of theme park doing so much effort to make people feel like they’re immersed in their favourite childhood show.

The first ride we went on was the Toy Soldier Parachute Drop! What this ride basically does is that it brings you up, and then periodically drops you, brings you up and drops you again.

I’m actually quite scared of heights so I kind of only knew what I was getting into only when I was seated and seat belt-ed. Of course that’s mostly how it happens, eh? I was a little scared at first but thankfully it was more floaty than an actual drop. And it wasn’t the fast kind of drop either. It was alright but I still screamed!

The next ride is the Slinky Dog Spin! This is not for soft stomachs either! You ride Slinky the dog and it goes around and around and up and down. I think the trick is to keep on moving your eyes or you’ll kind of feel a little sick. Overall, it’s part of the ride and it’s fun!

When you look at Toy Story land from afar, you really feel as if you’re part of Toy Story. It’s hard to explain, but look! It’s such an amazing land.

There are sweet treats there too! We decided to get ourselves some Frozen Yoghurt! Perfect for the weather actually. It was hot and pretty humid. We mixed it with mixed berries and it was delicious!

We then tried out the last ride there – the RC Racer! It’s supposed to be the scariest ride in the whole of Disneyland.

It’s actually pretty scary for the scariest ride. I’m not a big fan of roller coasters but everyone insisted we go! Look, it goes vertical! Its basically a viking ship. To be honest, I shut my eyes the whole way so I didn’t see a thing. I did feel myself dropping though and continued screaming the whole way through. Can you spot us?

We then hopped down to Fantasyland for a ride that’s much milder. Winnie the Pooh! Winnie the Pooh is such a favourite and a classic. My sister is in love with Eeyore so I bought her an Eeyore plush toy. I’m still undecided between Eeyore and Pooh. Both are too cute. I think I used to like Piglet too because he was pink.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh takes you in small honey pots and tells you a Winnie the Pooh story about honey as you navigate in the ride. It’s more sight seeing but everything looks so cute. It’s a really popular ride in Hong Kong Disneyland!

Another new land I haven’t been to is Grizzly Gulch so we made our way there. Grizzly Gulch is about a really rich town in the West where gold is abundant so even putting out gold nuggets here and there is the norm! Rent is two dollars and they have a mine there. However, a bear family does come in from time to time and that’s why you see so many Grizzly bears!

Besides so many places to take great photos, Grizzly Gulch is known for it’s most popular ride – the Runaway Mine Cars Ride. It’s about how the family of bears come in and disturb the mine while you’re on it causing a fast moving roller coaster ride!

It is an extremely fun ride. At one point you’re even making your way up a steep slope and the ride releases and drops you back down. The bears rub against road switchers and dynamite so that blasts you into different lanes or even blasts you backwards!

After Grizzly Gulch, we made our way towards Adventureland. I really like Adventureland. The safari, rain forest kind of feel is really cool. Besides the River Cruise ride, there’s also Tarzan’s Treehouse and of course the well-known Lion King Show!

This isn’t just like any other musical though. It is a 360 degree musical and plays from every single angle.

It is an amazing show of mechanical characters and dancers which demonstrate the story of the Lion King from when Simba was just a small lion to how he became King.

It’s a show that I remember when I first came and something that I can’t forget.

That’s Tarzan’s Treehouse in the background but we’re exploring that in the next post ;)

But we did go on the River Cruise too! The River Cruise is a popular ride at Disneyland. The cruise involves you getting on a boat and exploring different areas of the river. From a lazy hippopotamus to a water spouting baby elephant..

To even massive theatrical performances like this one. It really is a ride where you’re bound to be surprised at every bend.

Of course after all that running around, we were getting hungry so we went to the Plaza Inn Restaurant near Main Street to grab some dinner. The Plaza Inn Restaurant is a Chinese Restaurant! You’re probably wondering why we are eating so much Chinese food but it’s because we are in Hong Kong! Hong Kong has great Chinese food and Plaza Inn provided us just that!

We had an assortment of meat and even rice dishes. All were noteworthy.

And ended dinner with this sweet Disney dessert plate of Mickey shaped mango pudding, watermelon, dragon fruit and coffee jelly! It was so yummy.

But no visit to Disneyland is complete with a Fireworks show. This isn’t 4th of July show, it was about fifteen to half an hour long and displayed fireworks that represented Disney classics like Mulan and Anastasia. It was so beautiful and behind the castle, it reminds me of all those Disney films where they start out with a mini fireworks animation behind Cinderella’s Castle. It was a beautiful end to the night. You might want to grab your seats early though as it can be pretty crowded.

Overall, what an amazing day right? It was back to the hotel! Stay tuned to my upcoming post for Day 2!

Everyone does monthly favourites, weekly favourites, but how about the stuff that you keep on going back to time and time again? These are my favourite products that I can’t live without. I haven’t been able to find good substitutes in Singapore for them and I feel like they’re the best products I don’t mind going to the store again and again for them! Let’s start shall we?

#1 Daiso Sponge Detergent:

Getting a good brush cleaner is absolutely essential to making sure you have perfect make-up every time. Clumpy foundation on a dirty brush leaves you with streaks. I don’t know about you, but I remember how hard it was getting foundation off my brush – it just wouldn’t melt off with your standard counter brush cleaners. Now introducing you the Daiso sponge detergent! It’s 2 dollars and it’s all you need. Seriously, all you need. Foundation just bows down to the stuff and melts right off leaving your brushes looking absolutely clean and new! It’s the only brush cleaner I use and will use. How can you beat 2 bucks right?

#2 Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler 

You might think there’s no difference in finding a great eyelash curler, but you need to try the Shu Uemura Eyelash curler. I’ve tried a many curlers, but nothing else curls your lashes at the same angle and at the same time. It’s a complete curl that’s really hard to find.

Back when I started make-up, I was in search of a good eyelash curler. I simply typed “the best eyelash curler” and it came up with forum upon forum with one answer – the Shu Umeura Eyelash Curler. It’s  a worthy investment at just thirty sum dollars. It’s one of those must-have vanity and makeup kit basics – like having a pair of jeans!

 #3 Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick – Finale

If you’re looking for a lipstick that does not budge or move throughout the day, then you need to get this. It literally dries on your lips and even when you drink water on a glass, it does not leave a lipstick mark at all! If you’re a vain pot, try kissing your hand and you’ll see that absolutely nothing transfers. It is amazing.

However a lot of people dismiss this lipstick for being clumpy or dry and it’s because you’ve layered the lipstick too much. So make sure you do two swipes back and forth or “coats” only and leave it to dry. Don’t purse your lips or move your lips too much in this period of time, but just like nail polish, when it’s dry, you can do whatever you want. It goes on super smooth but can feel drying later on. I guess it’s the price you pay for lip color that won’t budge. I usually wear this when I have a big event and I don’t want my make-up to move the whole day. It does the job.

 #4 Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Daily contouring is a must-do for me and it’s made really easy with the right bronzer. Some bronzers can be really orange or too glittery but I’ve found the perfect one and that is the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. It’s a matte bronzer that has a shadow to it so it is absolutely perfect for daily contouring. I love the texture of the powder too because it’s super smooth.

Just take some on your contouring brush and sweep onto the hollows of your cheek, temple and jaw line for a slimmer face. Take a small blending brush to contour your nose and run it along the sides of your nose. It’s the perfect shade of brown!

#5 M.A.C Technakohl Liner – Graphblack

I’ve sifted through the liners at your local Watsons and Guardian and I still can’t find a worthy liner for my waterline and tightline. There’s always something wrong with it and I find myself returning to the MAC Technakohl liner because it doesn’t move or slide as much as the other eyeliners I’ve tried.

Finding a good pencil liner is important to me because I’m always lining my tight line and water line so I have to make sure that it won’t make me look like Mr. Panda during the day. I love this liner because it’s the right hardness that can draw smooth lines, great black pigment and it’s automatic so I never have to sharpen it. It’s just easy.

#6 Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation

This is my all time favourite foundation. It’s hard to say that because I never knew I would make that statement someday but here it is. When I first laid eyes on the stick foundation, I was a bit skeptical. My classmates at make-up school were all for it but I didn’t know if it would be too thick. I tried it on though and it was love at first sight. The foundation melts into your skin making it look very natural.

And the coverage is so amazing. I just take a brush and then draw streaks of this on my face or you can go straight from the tube. Then, use a sponge to blend everything together. The foundation lasts a good amount of time and doesn’t look horrid in humid weather! So I love it for that reason. Plus it’s such good coverage and can double up as a concealer. I love that it is also super portable and I bring this wherever I go! I’m done with my second tube so I’m going on to my third. It’s a whopping $65 but worth it!

I’m sure us ladies are always on the hunt for that perfect lip gloss. One that isn’t sticky, doesn’t clump at the end of the day one that can make our lips that much juicer. Well ladies, I have your answer – it’s the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited Lip glosses. I have been trying these out for a while and I have fallen in love with them. They aren’t sticky, are really hydrating in fact and come in so many colors, you can probably have one for every outfit! In this post, I’ll be doing a review, tutorial on trendy lip gloss looks as seen on Spring runways, showing you some of my personal favourites and ending with a giveaway of one of them!

Shu Uemura has always been on the top of their game. They’re probably top in innovation and technology in cosmetics and are known for their vivid colors and breaking boundaries. You’ve seen them at every department store or mall and you probably have their eye-lash curlers. I raise my hand. Even when I was in make-up school, Shu Uemura was all our teachers (who have been doing makeup for like 20 years) could talk about. They said that their amazing quality and brushes surpasses all other make-up brands.

So here I am introducing you the new Shu Uemura Lip Gloss – the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited! Shu Uemura has integrated four key elements in these new lip glosses – being a shape memorising technology, artist modulator colors, a skin loving formula and a new applicator!

Previously, Shu Uemura included a rod shaped applicator in its lip glosses. Now, the applicator is a circular shaped donut that can catch just the right amount of lip gloss when you apply it. I love these applicators because they spread the gloss really well and they do trap lip gloss as well. The pointed top makes going into the corners of the mouth a lot easier too.

Another cool thing is the shape memorizing technology  When applied, the lip gloss forms a coat following the shape of your lips and even if you touch it, it doesn’t shift or move. It’s powered by a 3D elastic gel network that evelops the lips. When you disturb the surface of the gloss, with pressure or friction, it automatically repairs the smooth surface. It can reflect light well too!

These lip glosses are also super hydrating and really, they aren’t sticky at all. The super smooth formula is caused by a moisture active complex and botanical oils that condition and soften your lips.

I’ve always seen Shu Uemura as a real make-up artist brand and it’s so cool to see that they’re encouraging people out there to be make-up artists on themselves with exploring new color boundaries. The lip gloss range also has 4 Artist Modulator colors that you can wear before or after your lip glosses to change the look and texture of them. It’s sort of like on-the-spot customisation! You can mix and match these modulator colors to create new colorful shades or to make it suit your skin tone better.

Now it’s tutorial time! Today I’m going to show you how to do the trendy two-toned lip that’s been making an appearance everywhere including on the runway and in magazines. It’s a really easy look to do and something that’s really in right now.

Simply use a pink lipstick on your upper lip. Choose a vivid color or a sheer color depending on whether you’re more of a bold lip or natural lip gal. Then apply an orange lipstick to your bottom lip. Of course you don’t need to stick to these colours! Find colors that are complimentary to each other and those work too.

Then, apply your lipgloss! I’m using Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited in AT 60C and applying it to my top lip. It really brings the lip out automatically. Then, I’m using AT 50C on my bottom lip. Make sure you’re careful and if you need to, you can always use a bit of make-up remover and a q-tip to hide any mistakes.

And you’re finished!

The next look I thought about was how to make lips really have a pout with lipgloss. As a make-up artist, you learn that you don’t always have to stick to the rules and apply lip gloss all over your lips only. You can actually add a lighter lip gloss to the middle of your lips to make them pop and have a pout!

I’m using a wine beige lip pencil first and applying that all over my lips. This will help form a nice layer for the lipstick to cling on to and hide any skin tone imperfections. Then, apply a raspberry red lipstick and finish off with a pale orange lipgloss like the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited in OR10C! Using the applicator, just lightly dab the middle of your lips until you get that desired pout!

The last look is probably what is on everyone’s mind this season, being Spring. It’s that pretty nude lip! It’s great for even a smokey eye or keeping it natural with pretty pink cheeks to match.

Instead of using a lipstick which can be too nude and harsh, I’m using a nude lip pencil to do the trick. I love using this pencil because I can layer it on until I get the desired nude lip. All I have to do is put streaks on my lips and use my finger to blend it out. You’ll see that you’ll have a much more natural nude lip and it helps the nude lips show up on darker skin tones too. Then, I apply Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited PK 60s which is a really pretty fairytale pink with a bit of silver shimmer and that completes your nude lip look!

My personal favourites that I’ve been loving lately are the CR 20S, WN 20S, PK 30S and RD 10G. The CR 20S is a beautiful coral and pink shade with a subtle silver reflex. It’s an amazing everyday color that goes well with all make-up looks!

I love the WN 20S because it’s such a unique color for a lip gloss – that dark burgundy that’s really in right now as a color. You can go lighter or go all out and use this even without a lipstick and the pigmentation is totally Shu Uemura!

The PK 30S is a creamy pink that reminds me of barbie. It’s really pretty and has a multi tone reflex that really makes your lips shine. I feel like it does a really good job plumping the lips too! RD  10G may look really vibrant and bold in the tube but straight on the lips (like these swatches with JUST glosses on and no lipstick ) you can see it really enhances the lips and is quite wearable. It’s a gold and red orange combination that’s super pretty.

I’m sure we all know how to conceal, but what about colour correcting? No, I’m no talking about slapping on another foundation or concealer to “colour correct” our skin, but using actual cream colours to do the job. Using green and purple concealers might only make sense if you’re helping do Barney the Dinosaur’s make-up, but it can really actually help you achieve an even flawless base under your make-up. This is colour correcting.

Today I’m using my favourite which is the Make Up For Ever Camo Cream Palette. I always use this palette when I need to colour correct my clients or models and I love the texture. It is a dream. There are two main things you need to know about colour correcting – being what colour corrects what, and how to correctly apply the cream (because it’s not how you usually do it).

Dark oranges - are great for dark skin tones because it is able to warm up the skin so that foundation doesn’t look pale and ashy. Often, more african skin tones can have gray or ashy “pigmentation spots” and more commonly, the middle of the face doesn’t match the tone of the border of the face. This dark orange helps to correct the mismatched spots. For midnight dark skin, you can even use your red lipstick to do the job as I’ve done before!

Purple/Lilac – used to correct sallowness of the skin or yellowness and significantly brighten your complexion. Did you know that this colour theory is all according to the colour wheel. Therefore, since purple is used to correct yellow, yellow corrects purple or blue/black spots. For example, if you have really dark under eye circles, you can use a pale yellow colour corrector to correct your under-eye first before applying your concealer. You’ll find that it goes away even better.

Green – the most common colour corrector. It’s used to correct redness, eczema, pink blemishes and zits. Applying the green colour correct before, will help you hide the redness that usually shows up through your concealer. It’s great to hide those hard to hide red areas too.

The rest of the palette features concealers that you can mix together to hide your flaws, they aren’t really colour correctors. I would say this palette is missing a pale yellow because that’s pretty much all that’s left! As you would know, a pale yellow helps to correct the dark under eye circles and helps to neutralize it.

In applying your colour corrector, the keyword again is neutralize. You’re supposed to neutralize the colour, not conceal it. Therefore, as you can see in the picture, the first swatch is wrong. Applying a green layer is not going to help you and will make you look like shrek. Instead, lightly pat the corrector onto the affected area. See how light that is? That’s exactly the amount (or less) that you need to neutralize whatever you’re trying to hide!

I don’t even remember when was the last time I did one of these Q&A quizzes. But for a little bit of nostalgia, I thought why not? Thanks to the lovely Min Ru for tagging me for the Beauty Blogger Tag! There are actually 32 questions, but I chose 18 because the rest were a bit redundant to be honest. Let’s get started ;)

1. Do you wear the same style everyday or do you change it?

Yep, I’m one of those ultra classic ladies and if you’re talking about my daily make-up, then the only time I change it up is when I can’t find my make-up palette I usually use and end up using another one. Then I’m stuck on there for about 2 weeks before maybe thinking of changing it up again.

2. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?

I love getting my nails done at the salon. It’s a horrible indulgence since it’s so expensive here. I do my own nails too though so it depends on my mood. If I’m feeling down, I’ll probably think of going to salon. It’s like going to McDonalds. These two things always make me happy.

3. How long does it take for you to put on your make-up?

Nowadays I’m putting a little more effort, aka my latest obsession, individual lashes. I used to take ten minutes, now its more like 2o minutes. I reckon the more I practice my individual lashes, the faster I’ll get though.

4. What do you do first? Face or eyes?

Always the face. It’s a distraction without my foundation on.

5. Do you “collect” make-up or just buy what you need when you need it?

I used to be (as you would probably know) a collector. I have so much MAC, I’m so happy that I’m a make-up artist now so I put it to good use and collected make-up like crazy when I was in college. Now I’ve slowed down a lot and only get something when I need it. Of course if it’s a really spectacular product, I don’t think twice!

6. How often do you wear false lashes?

Nowadays, everyday. Not strip lashes though, but for individual lashes. I love them so much and they look natural, flirty and lush. They take some time and patience but it’s really worth it.

7. Do you do a full face of make-up everyday?

I guess I could say yes to that. It depends if I’m leaving the house to town or to an event then of course.

8. Do you wear make-up when you are home alone or with family?

Nope, for sure not. If I’m staying home all day or just going around my neighborhood, I won’t be wearing my make-up!

9. Will you leave the house without make-up?

Yes! If it’s to my nearby mall, mrt station, grocery store, having breakfast with Mom and Dad.

10. How many high end products do you have?

Haha, I’ll be putting up my make-up collection soon so you can find out :D

11. How often do you change your handbag?

I almost never change my handbag. I wish I could be one of those girls that style themselves and change up their bags but I’m loyal to only one – the Longchamp Le Pliage. And girls, it’s my third consecutive one. I guess you can tell a lot about my personality from there. My Dad got me a back-up too so when this one breaks down, I’ll be on my fourth. That’s how I roll. I guess I’d like to but I am so lazy to take things out and put things in another bag. I love the Le Pliage – fits everything, looks classic. It’s just a great bag.

12. What time do you get up and go to sleep?

I used to be a 7 AM early bird and sleep early too. Nowadays because of work, I’m looking at 12 AM to 1 Am and waking up at 8 to 9 AM. I cannot stand being sleepy though. I go into this coma and all my friends know it. I can’t even see that properly. I just have to get my sleep and have never done an all nighter in my life.

13. How often do you work out?

Haha, well I swim occasionally. I used to work out like crazy though but I guess I go into fitness seasons. Truth be told, I don’t like working out. I’d rather do a sport or a team sport to get my heart beating again.

14. Do you speak a foreign language?

I speak Hokkien at home actually! Well a mix of hokkien (a dialect) and english although its not Taiwan or Singapore hokkien which is different from Penang Hokkien. My parents are from Penang in Malaysia so it’s a very mild sort of hokkien we speak. I do understand Mandarin but my tones are making me feel very embarrassed when I have to say something.

15. How did you come up with your blog name?

Well it was a mistake actually. When I was 16, I wanted to get a gmail account and something happened and I couldn’t create a roseannetang@gmail.com, so I added an RS at the end which signifies my initials for my Chinese name to the end and it became “roseannetangrs”. I was like, good enough.

16. What kind of camera do you use for photographs?

I have two cameras at the moment – the Nikon DSLR D5100 and the Canon S95 which I use for photos and video. I use the D5100 more but its so heavy if you know what I mean and hard to carry around to events. The S95 which I thought was a great camera is great for portraits but isn’t that clear as I’d like. I really want the Olympus EPL5 right now but its so pricey. I really have to save up for it.

17. What is your favourite color?

I love hot pink. The color of my logo! It’s such a vibrant but feminine personality that totally relates to me!

18. What are you doing with the rest of your day?

I have a Dior event at night but before that, an article to write and making sure my store is ready to launch its next collection on May 1st! I then really want to hop down to see my Olympus EPL5 again – pay it a visit you know. I’ll probably come see it everyday. Oh dear.

Whenever I pass by the Benefit Counter these days, I’m amazed at how many make-up kits they have. From priming, to eye-shadow to even bronzing, they’re probably the first I’ll think about when I want to buy somebody a gift. That’s because these kits make amazing gifts. I mean who wouldn’t want one of these?

Today I’ll be talking about their new boxes of love – the Benefit World Famous Neutrals Eyeshadow Kits! They are a mouthful to say and remember but just like the other kits they’re offering, they are super easy to follow and provide you with just what you need. There are three varieties – the Most Glamorous Nudes Ever, Easiest Nudes Ever and Sexiest Nudes Ever – courtesy of Eyenessa who’s on the front cover. Lets start with Most Glamorous Nudes Ever (short for MGNE)! The eyeshadow kits feature Benefit’s four long-wear powder eyeshadows and two creaseless cream shadows. I simply love the packaging, comes in a book box and it reminds you that when you’re done with everything, you can take out the shadow part and use it as a box for your precious items!

On the top part of the box is an instruction manual with step by step instructions for creating a daytime and night time look with your kit. It’s great for travel but as it doesn’t include liners, you might want to pack that along. I was very much looking forward to trying out the shadows as it will be my first benefit eye-shadow actually!

But seriously, the quality of these shadows were not surprising. They’re fantastic. The creaseless cream shadows went on like a dream, very creamy but great payoff. The shadows were super soft and blend able and both the texture and pigmentation is impressive. My favourite has to be birthday suit and it’s complicated! Such beautiful shades!

But of course, what’s a review in Roseanne’s world without a tutorial. You’ll have to excuse my eyes being a bit pink and red. I had the fan blowing at the side of my face in the morning because it was hot and it must have dried them out a bit. Nonetheless, I followed the instructions for the daytime look!

Isn’t this so cute on how it opens up like this? Daytime and..instead of nighttime, they called it play time lol. I love their names. So cute!

To achieve a simple daytime look with the Glamorous Neutrals palette, start by applying Birthday Suit all over the lids. This will act as a good base for your eyeshadow to cling onto.

Then apply It’s Complicated which is a beautiful rose gold shade onto the middle of your lids. Or if you like all over your lids to set your cream shadow.

After that, apply buff which is a matte cream color to highlight your brows and also in the inner corner! Then, use a synthetic brush with birthday suit again and smoke upwards from the lid line.

Use your favourite eyeliner for your lid line, water line and tight line and you get something like this. Wasn’t that easy? I really feel like Benefit took all the complicated things about eyeshadow and tossed them right out the window! It’s so idiot-proof and you get a pretty fantastic look. I also defined my brows, used Benefit Dandelion blush and a Shu Uemura lip gloss to finish off the look.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. There is also Easiest Nudes Ever which features more pink and girly shades. Pink and brown make a great color combination.

There’s also Sexiest Nudes Ever which is more of a plum smokey eye palette. It’s so gorgeous and very versatile. I always think that plum and purple colors if done right suit everyone!

I don’t know about you, but just like going to the dentist,  I’m actually pretty paranoid of going to the hairdressers. That’s because I love having long hair – it frames my face the way I want it too and takes off the extra pounds. But, the salons I’ve vistied these days always go a little too crazy with the scissors and probably 90% of the time, I end up regretting it seeing my locks on the floor!

A few weeks ago, I had to get my hair done because my producer for Toggle TV insisted I chop off those dry ends because I was filming the next day! To be honest, my hair was looking like an overgrown patch of grass and needed a bit of refreshment. I’ve seen so many posts on Salon Vim @ 313 Somerset and had to go try them out. I was a little nervous, but seriously, look what happened to my hair:

I absolutely LOVE it! I was so suprised to see the end result. Perfect length and the curls are now making me want to curl my hair every day (I’ve actually been doing just that) and I just realised how important your hair is to getting a fabulous look! I mean if you have no make up on and good hair is better than having make-up on with bad hair! Right?

They first gave me a good hair wash. I love getting my hair professionally washed. It’s always a great massage and the shower of water feels great. Although sometimes it tickles.

After the wash, my hairstylist, Allen, proceeded to cut away and give me layers. I insisted on still wanting long hair as I always do so I just wanted him to cut off any dry ends and give me more layers. I really didn’t know what I was talking about though since I get more facials done in a year than haircuts. He was really professional and knew what he was doin’! It was cool that he was cutting while my hair was wet. He said this was easier to see. Great tip!

Then I got a treatment which would really help hydrate my hair and make it look shiny and new again. One of his assistants applied the treatment product on sections of my hair including a pre-treatment and then the actual treatment consisted of me having my hair steamed! Look at that steam machine!

Then, I got a good blow dry and even when it was straight, it’s a great length. He then gave me a few curls using the curling tongs and I felt like I could go to the Oscars already. I’ve never seen my hair like this before, total hair transformation and no one has curled my hair this nicely before. It really made me see my hair as a new outlet, not just doing make-up, but hair really adds such a big difference!

Overall, I just wanted to thank Allen, my wonderful Salon Vim hairstylist. I’ve seen so many girls get their hair coloured there like ombre or blue and green highlights but to be honest, I’m not that experimental with color. I like my hair black as the night. I’ve gotten my hair brown before but it was done badly – maybe all I have to do is see what Salon Vim can do! Let me know if you have any suggestions for my hair!
