Hey Everyone!

Benefit Fake Up1

I was recently invited to the launch of Benefit’s brand new concealer, Fake-Up! Benefit is the Queen when it comes to faking it. Whether it be eyelashes, radiance or even a flawless complexion. Now, they’ve found a product finally worthy of the name and that’s this concealer. P.S I had an amazing time at the launch, loved the skit they did below!

The new concealer comes in extra chic packaging and an absolutely beautiful tube and the stick form makes it easy for girls on the go. What makes this concealer different from the rest? It’s wrapped with a “hydrating core”. Basically your pigment comes from the core of the product and a moisturising balm wraps around the pigment. So, when you glide, you get a mix of moisturisation and the concealer.

The main objective of this concealer is that it provides the coverage without the creasing. Because it’s slightly sheer when you glide it, you don’t end up building lots of the product up, preventing creasing. Dry air or even air conditioning might separate some concealers leaving it to crease but because of the hydrating core in Benefit’s fake up concealer, this worry is basically gone!

The concealer comes in three shades – light, medium and deep. However, if you’re an extra dark skin tone, it’s hard to find your shade here. The Deep probably matches an NC40 – 45. I was surprised to see that the concealer is wrapped in the hydrating core and not the other way!  But because of this reason, I feel like sometimes I’m putting more of a moisturiser on than a concealer.

However, don’t be fooled when you first swatch the product at the counter. When you first swatch the product, the hydrating core doesn’t really blend with the concealer and it feels a bit like a slippery mess. You’re wondering at this stage, how is this concealer going to cover anything? However, once you blend and wait, you’ll see that your skin absorbs most of the balm leaving the concealer. It does hide well and is good alternative for people who want to hide undereyes without the fuss of patting in a liquid concealer. But, in any case I wouldn’t use this for serious eyebags but for light to medium pandas like me, it works just fine!

Hope you liked this post! Update on the online store – we’ve been testing and there are some technical issues that need to be solved on our end. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to fix these in time for the proposed launch date on Wednesday. Most likely, it will unfortunately have to be after Chinese New Year! Probably better for all of us though but I will keep you posted!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Hey Everyone,

How To

Applying perfect eyeliner can be a difficult task for the newbie in make-up to some of the experts. It’s something that requires practice and patience. But if you’re out of both, here is a really easy way to put training wheels on your eyeliner. All you need is a dark eye-shadow like a matte black or brown that will be your eye definer and a sharp synthetic angled eyeliner brush. Use these two tools as your training wheels. Simply draw on the eye shadow where you would put your eyeliner. The synthetic angled eyeliner brush (I recommend the Ecotools one) will help you draw precise lines with the shadow.

The beauty of this is that if you make a mistake, you can simply rub or gently brush off the shadow. Good thing I’m wearing a smokey eye here! If not, use a dry q tip and in quick strokes, brush the powder away.

Once you’ve got your training wheels perfect, you can then go over the whole thing with your favourite eye liner.     HT3

So that’s about it! I think the best liner to use right now is a liquid liner. I’m using the Make-Up Forever Aqua Eyes precision liner but really like the Maybelline Impact Express pen looking one as well as the Revlon Colorstay! Hope you liked this post! I’m launching my online store soon! Do stay tuned on my Facebook Page to keep updated!

Hey Everyone!

tips

Cream blush has always been a love it or hate it product for me. If applied to heavily, I look like Krusty the Clown and for some reason it never wants to stay on your cheek right? So today I’m going to teach you how to properly apply cream blush so that you get the exact color every time.

Cream blush is simply a blush in cream consistency. Almost every big name make-up brand has a cream blusher and for good reason. They give you a healthy glow especially great for photoshoots when you want to a healthy and glowing finish on your model.

creme1

The trick to applying cream blush is to apply it only after your foundation. Or, if you have flawless skin, straight on your skin. Never apply it on a powdered or set face because powder and cream (like oil and water) don’t mix and you will end up with a cakey mess. Then, you will need two fingers to apply your blush. One blush to dot the cream on your cheek where you want it and the other to blend. That way you don’t apply too much and you can build the color up. I painted my nail a different color so that you can see that I’m using two fingers.

After that, dust with a transparent powder to set. For an even longer life blush, you can dust over a complimentary powder blush over your cheek but make sure you aren’t going too heavy! And that’s it!

Hey Everyone,

Lip liner is one of those love it or don’t know it kind of products. Most of us don’t even use lip liner and reach straight for our lipsticks right? I know I used to. But I find that for bold lips – whether it’s red, pink or even orange –  nothing beats a good lip liner to really define your lips and make sure that your lipstick doesn’t move or fade.

The best lip liners are smooth, easy to apply, sharp and pigmented. You need to be able to get pigment by a very light trace of the pencil. Here’s a simple tutorial on how to apply your lip liner. Of course the way you do this is just like eye liner in that you have thousands of different ways that you can draw the line but here’s how I do the job:

1.4

Start with your cupids bow and draw the line so that it frames your lips exactly. Lightly trace the pencil. Then, connect both ends to the ends of your top lip. Move down to your bottom lip and press your tongue against your chin so that you can see your lip line more clearly. Draw the centre first and connect to the ends of your bottom lip. Then, fill in the lip entirely with the lip pencil. Follow with matching lipstick. Another trick is to set your lipstick with a powder and then apply another coat of lipstick to make sure there will be absolutely no budging whatsoever.

The stars of this show is my new purchase, the MAC Moorange lipstick which is an Amplified Creme and the LA Girls Endless Lipliner in Nectar kindly suggested by the wonderful Sarah Chaudry or (facesbysarah) during dinner a few days ago. I love this lip liner and it does not budge. Plus it’s 10 bucks so I got myself a neutral shade too. Orange lips are good for this season if you’re looking for a more unique pop of color instead of the standard bright red and pink. It’s an often forgotten lip shade but it can look pretty cool too.

Hope you liked this post and let me know if you have any questions in the comments section below! P.S there’s a giveaway for this lovely wing ring on my Online Store’s Facebook Page! Hey Everyone!

Although it’s been a while since Burberry beauty landed on Singapore shores, I remember still feeling pretty excited that this classic luxury brand had finally made it’s own make-up line following in the footsteps of Chanel, Dior and YSL. Skeptics say that they can’t possibly make as good a product as they can with their fashion, but with YSL’s touche eclat, Chanel’s vita and matte lumiere and Dior’s lipsticks and nail polishes, it’s only about time till they come out with their own cult product.

star

Today’s star of the show is the Burberry Complete Eye Palette, my very first Burberry beauty product, in Smokey Grey (No. 0 1). I love the packaging of these beauties. The trademark criss cross pattern is printed not only on the beautiful mirrored casing, but also on it’s sleeve and onto the powdered product itself. It’s simple, classic and beautiful and the chrome texture is just the right thing to differentiate itself from any other make-up brand.

The Complete Eye Palette states that it is a quartet of colors that are densely pigmented and designed to have all that you need for a basic eye look. The black here can also be used with a liner and that’s probably why the sleeve also includes a liner brush (but I’m not very keen on powder liners anyway). The eyeshadows are also said to have a skin protecting formula with satin smooth silicones and enriching conditioners. The Complete Eye Palette also comes in a few other shades besides this grey smokey combo that comes with a matte black, matte darker grey, opalescent lighter grey and white.

But how good are these shadows? Not bad at all. In fact, there’s absolutely nothing to complain about. I love the texture of these eyeshadows, they aren’t dry and stiff but reasonably creamy and smooth. It’s very reminiscent of the Urban Decay shadows and also the Wet N’ Wild palettes which in my opinion have some of the best. They also have great pigmentation as you can see with one swipe below.

swatches

It’s also cute that this is the first time I’ve seen a luxury sleeve that has a little pocket for not one but three little brushes! Who uses these anyway right but I found the fluffy brown one to be actually quite good. And to be honest in case you ever need to apply eyeshadow outside, these come in handy when you don’t have space in your pouch for your regular eye brushes. Just remember to blend out with your fingers if all else fails.

So here’s a little tutorial of me applying the Burberry Complete Eye Palette. I’ve done a really simple, easy and great for daily wear look that you can do with this quad. You can always add more of the matte black if you need to make it more dramatic in the outer corner. Overall, they applied very well!

Overall, looking forward for sure to trying more Burberry Beauty! I’m really liking it so far!

Hope you had a great weekend everyone!
